Cheap but effective
Sooo, you definitely get what you pay for with this piece. It's very cheap and lightweight. It didn't want to stay straight when I screwed it a certain way, but I was able to adjust it to fit just how I needed. It does exactly what it's supposed to, so I have no complaints, just make sure you aren't expecting something heavy duty or high quality. ????

So far, so good
I put mine up to cover shelves built in to the wall to avoid dust on contents, and after reading other reviews about how this didn't stay up that well, I've been careful not to tug too hard when moving my lightweight curtain. I was looking for those cheap skinny white ones from long ago, but this was the cheapest one I could find, and because the rod is wider around, I had to put it thru the wider pocket of the curtain. It was not super easy, and you do need to screw it to where you need it at a little angle/ then slide it up into place, and this took several tries; trying to screw it level right where you want it did not work for me. I got the brushed pewter because white wasn't available, and it's a nice neutral color. Holding up so far. Still want to find the other skinny white ones for organizing the inside of drawers!

Nice looking, but not very sturdy...
I ordered these to match the bronze/oil rubbed bronze fixtures & accents that I updated a bathroom with. So, for that purpose, they're fine. BUT -- they're pretty flimsy! I got 2 of them since I have a cafe curtain & I can't see these holding much more weight than the single panel 18" valance & 2 panels of 24" inch curtain I'm using them with. The end pops off to slide on your curtain (I'm using them with grommet style tops), but be careful doing it because these will bend easily. At just under $10, these are pretty reasonably priced for what you get. (Thanks for reading this review & I hope that it's Helpful!)

Works for what I needed it for
I am using this to keep a robot vacuum from entering a room. I have it in the doorway at floor level and it works like a charm. I have stepped on it a couple of times, and it has held up well. Have not tripped over it!

Good for the price, buy with proper expectations!
I want to start my review by saying my rating is based on my expectation of the product for the price it is offered at, and how it is described/shown. That said: The product looks exactly as pictured and described. It is made of extremely lightweight metal (magnet will cling to it). The rod is about as thick as a Sharpie Marker. If used correctly it stays in place. (a tension rod has to be 'unscrewed' to a length a little wider than where it will be placed, then pushed in to make it fit, thereby keeping tension). I would NOT recommend this for use with a heavy curtain. The metal is extremely lightweight, thus not well suited to load bearing. I think it would work best with a single lightweight door curtain, or interior window cafe curtains. This product is fine for it's pricing, and has a much better look than the simple white tension rod. I was not given any discounts or incentives for this review.

Impressive
I know that this is not the intended purpose of this rod, but HOLY COW, look at all the stuff I've got hanging from it! Four planters, well watered. I've had this rod up for more than a year, and I've just purchased another one for a proper doorway curtain hanging. No hardware, no tools; you just untwist the rod to the length you want and slide it where you want it and it holds with astonishing pressure. And it's under six bucks!! Unless you're hanging 80-pound Masque of the Red Death velvet curtains, go with this rod. Perfect in my little place.

Flimsy
For the price, I guess it is okay. I'm using this item in a door way and the house live in is older so there are interesting molding configurations. This allows for the item to have a lip to rest on and still be of use. If that lip was not there the item would just slide down the frame. Tried tightening the tension although that didn't solve the problem. If you don't have a lip or a place for either side of the bar to rest on I wouldn't buy this. Also, it is very thin and tiny. It worked for my purpose although I can see how it could be disapointing to others.

Not easy to expand
Made of very poor materials. It took using a vice grip clipped on one end to get the right leverage to expand this tension rod. It wouldn’t torque right, away from the spring inside, when I tried to do it by hand because the metal is so flimsy. You can’t get a good grip on one end without accidentally holding onto the other side of the other rod at the same time. Fortunately, with the right tools at home I was able to get it loose and then adjust it, although it stripped off some of the bronze coating. It bends with the weight of a single, simple blackout curtain. The only reason I’m not returning this item is because what I need it for isn’t going to be very visible. I needed a blackout curtain to cover up my wine collection on top of cabinets and the rod is far away from view that no one can tell that it’s cheap or that I ruined the bronze coating on the one side where I used the vice grip.
