A pretty cool car combination - be aware of the boom

What a great addition to my HO layout. The boom and hook can be adjusted up and down using the small "tool" that fits through a window to control them. Heavy and well made, it fits well with the Walthers NW2/SW7 work locomotive I purchased. The boom and work car combination have one minor drawback. The boom swings outside of the work car on my 18" radius curves having me to adjust trees, shave the inside and outside of tunnels, etc on my layout. If you leave the boom lowered into the work car it will catch on the cradle sides and de-rail it or the boom car on curves. Also, I found it helpful to move the two hooks up out of the way so the boom was free to swing at a lower height. I had to raise all of my overhead "electric wires" where they crossed the tracks due to the height of the exhaust pipe on top of the boom car. The tool is a fairly small part to raise and lower the boom and hook so I pounded a small tack onto my control board to safely "store" it. It would be easy to lose this and I'm not sure what you might use to substitute its purpose as I have set the boom car up several times to portray a derailment scenario or other work situation. All in all it is a fun and realistic set that my son and grandkids (and I) enjoy.

It is a very realistic and detailed crane model. We can manually control the crane inclination angle and the up and down of hook. I recommend it.
