Great value, glad I have these in my tool box. Not my first Astro product, and won't be my last.

Both units work pretty well and the included bits have held up great as well. I did buy a second set of bits to keep my aluminum and steel bits separate and I use these ones on steel and stainless and they've held up great. The grinders themselves work pretty well. As others have mentioned, sometimes they get a little hung up and won't spin but manually spinning them and then pulling the trigger seems to set them straight. I also had issues with the collet being difficult to loosen on the straight body tool and broke both the wrenches it came with. I made a set out of thicker 1/8" material and left a little more meat on the sides of the wrench and those have held up fine. Wish they just shipped with adequate wrenches in the first place. I'm also more careful to not overtighten that tool. I recently let my girlfriend use it for a stainless project she's working on and forgot to tell her about not overtightening and had a tricky time loosening it again. I'm still within the one year warranty and plan to send it back to Astro for service to see if they can replace the collet assembly for me. I suspect a burr left behind from manufacturing causes the issue for me. I called them to ask what they could do when I first had problems and 1) Got an English speaking human being within 30 seconds of calling who 2) Covered their warranty policy and estimated turn around time on repairs. I've bought other Astro tools and once had a punch set show up without writing on one of the punches in the set. A quick phone call later and Astro mailed me out a replacement with writing on the tool at no charge to me. They're California based so shipping for me is quick and affordable if I ever need to pay for it. Will be continuing to buy Astro as I build my tool collection up. They are built well enough for my needs and offered at relatively affordable pricing when compared to similar tools from more well-known companies.

great value

I love this set! the grinders are great, especially for the value. You dont get too much torque with these and they only have a one year warranty, but the feel in the hand is great. They dont get cold like the economy metal handled tools. Theyre fast, compact and light. I just love them. They also dont vibrate in the hand a ridiculous amount like some die grinders ive had. The greatest surprise about this kit was the carbide bits though. I was expecting them to be pretty disposable and overall not that great, but they are wonderful. Very sharp and hard and have held up to everything i have put them through so far.

Best grinders I've ever used

Very comfortable to hold and they have allot of fine control with the trigger, very quiet as well. Use them at work every day and they are worth every penny, much better than Mac or snapon in my opinion. The burr set is also very useful as well

Money not well spent

Not my first Astro Onyx tool, I own plenty of them, but for some reason I had really bad luck with this set, i ordered this set because it was a good deal, specially because of the Carbide Rotary Burr Set, but I had bad luck with the 90 degree grinder, it was completely frozen when I try it the first time No movement at all, only the straight grinder worked fine. I decided to send it back and get a replacement the second time, but for my luck it didn’t work as well, but I decided to keep it because I needed the straight grinder, plus i needed to finish some work asap, I use my tools to the max because I work in the auto body industry, if you’re in the market for a straight grinder &Carbide Rotary Burr Set! Look for an individual set I believe Oxys sells the straight one with the Burt’s kit, get that one instead, and save some money.

Just do it!

I ran the straight grinder solid (with oil on a kaiser compressor with dryer) for almost 3 straight hours with no loss of power. The tool is much quieter than my buddies "Snappy" and you can direct the air exhaust. Even if I burned it up after a solid hour I would've bought another. I fully expected this tool to grenade itself but it's a solid buy. The burrs that come with it are pretty solid too.

Great Buy!

Sorry this is a very late review. But the die grinder kit arrived on time. It was a exactly as advertised. I don’t use it on a regular basis, but when I do - it is great. It’s exactly what you would order off the manufacturer’s site, but a lot less $$$. The minute you pick up the tools, you know they are very well made. You just have to remember the attachments are new and will grap the material quickly and it could get away from you. I would definitely buy it again.

Astro is hit-or-miss

Astro is very hit or miss. Some of their products are amazing, while others straight up suck. I bought this grinder set because I needed it for work. The straight grinder works well. The angled grinder was seized straight from the packaging. Disappointing

excellent kit except for the angled die grinder

excellent kit for the price. I had a problem with an air leak on the angled die grinder(90°), you can hear the air coming out from the exhaust. I've returned my first unit(major air leak) . my 8 gal compressor was working like crazy non-stop on my second unit , on the angled die grinder again (small air leak) I'm on my third kit and its still have the small air leak problem. but decided to keep it because you won't find tools at this price.and it doesnt seems to affect the performance of the tool like the first one I had the rest of the kit is perfect, I never had air leak on the straight die grinder. excellent carbide burr set

Great little grinders

For the price, these are fantastic. The fit and finish is great, and although the die case will probably not last long, the dies seem to be of similar quality to much more expensive ones. Both tools have worked well through a few hours of hard use, which is good enough for me. One very nice feature is that both of the wrenches the tool came with are identical; each has one side for the chuck and one side for the spindle. I don't know why none of my past die grinders have been like this, but I like it. One slight downside is that although the bits have a case, the tools themselves don't, which is a bit of a pain.

Works great

I have had minimal use so far but both the drivers and dies have performed well. I had to elongate a few holes in 6mm plate by a few millimetres not a problem, could put on a decent amount of force before they would stall out. Happy with the purchase.

Quiet decent tool.

I mainly use the 90° for everything, no complaints it does what it needs to do, super quiet compared to my co-workers.
