Excellent pneumatic Pinner for 23 gauge pins

The Arrow PT23G pinner is an excellent tool for assembling items with tiny 23 gauge pins. Typical used for theater sets, models, and wood construction in conjunction with glue, the Arrow pinner is precise and easy to use. As with all pneumatic air nailers, caution is urged to prevent nailing yourself. Loading 23 gauge pins up to 1" is easy. I found no problems with operating the Pinner except that the . safety interlock is a little awkward to use. Better safety interlocks could be designed. While this unit is reasonably priced, Harbor Freight sells a very similar unit without the safety lock. However, safety interlocks are important, but they need to be well designed. Still I recommend this unit.

Did the job

Good quality pin nailer. For the amount of time a pin nailer is needed in my life this one is more than adequate. I had to replace some 1/8 thick finish toe kick panels under my kitchen cabinets after having to remove them to have the floors refinished. They were originally installed with a pin nailer of which I didn’t own and a Brad would have still made holes to large to leave unfilled. So I took to Amazon in search of a decently priced nailer knowing I would have very little applications going forward where I needed this thing. This one fits the bill perfectly. Decently well built, simple to use, no oil required, and no jamming. For the price and for working as advertised through the whole job it gets 5 stars.

This item works great! The only problem is that I should have researched more for pricing I think that third or second party from Amazon is to expensive.

Great air tool

Turns out this air tool works really well. I was surprized it drives 1inch pin nails in very well. Im very happy with this tool

Works Great

I bought this to fix some trim on the kitchen cabinets. The guys who installed them did a shoddy job (I guess that's why they went bankrupt at the end of our job). The kids are rough on them too, so I had several pieces of small trim to reinstall. This is how they were originally installed so I knew it would look right using the 23 g pins. They disappear into the wood grain and you really don't have to touch up after them or anything. Once you shoot a few you will learn how to hold the nailer to make sure you don't get an imprint of the driver too. I almost didn't buy this because of some of the negative reviews but it seems to work great. No complaints. I probably shot around 100 pins, 5/8", Grex brand and had no jams. No issues setting the pin length although I will agree that the little plastic slide could be made better (hence I took a star off for that). Make sure you lightly oil it and make sure the pins are inserted the correct direction (would be easy to get them backwards but the ones I bought have arrows to make sure you install correctly). For the price of this pin nailer, I saved enough time and money that even if it quits working tomorrow, I've got my money's worth, but I suspect this will be a handy little tool for light duty jobs around the house for years to come. I normally don't leave reviews, but I was so pleased, in light of the negative reviews, that hopefully this one will be helpful for other folks needing a similar tool.

Got a bad unit....i hope.

This pin nailer is inexpensive. Part of the reason is the range of pin nail lengths it can drive is less than the $100 models. I bought it it for work on miniature wood working projects (dollhouses, dioramas, etc) so not being able to use the longer pins was not an issue for me. The nailer appeared well made and sturdy. I set it up as soon as I received it to test it. There is a sliding button on the side of the unit that has to be set to the length of the pin that is being used. I was able to adjust it once before it jammed. It would not move. It was set at the 1" pin length so I decided to try using 1" pins on a project. The tool would only set the first nail. It would not set a nail with subsequent trigger pulls. The price is attractive considering the limited applications I need the tool for. I am hoping I just got a bad unit and opted for a replacement from amazon. Will update after I receive replacement. Update: Received my replacement nailer and immediately put it to use. The nail height adjustment worked on this unit. It DID refuse to move easily on one occasion (which is what happened to the first one i received before it jammed). I pulled the trigger on the unit (which I had unloaded prior to attempting the adjustment) to release the air and that seemed to do the trick. One issue I did have was when I set the adjustment to 3/4" nails the nails did not seat properly and kept the unit from closing. I had to set the unit to 1" to use the 3/4" nails. The unit worked fine with the 3/4" nails (and the other sizes I put through it) despite of the issue. I have a brad and finish nailer which don't incorporate a nail height adjustment. I can only assume that the diameter (gauge) of the pins requires the mechanism to assure the pins seat properly in the nailer. It is the first pin nailer I have ever owned and am unfamiliar if the height setting is standard with these types of tools. Only 4 stars because of the adjustment issue (minor at this point) and the inadequate documentation/manual.

Great value, good little work horse?

It's super light and compact. It says oilless but I oiled it anyway. I got because it shoots 3/8 pin nails. This is the smallest I've found. The limitation is that it only shoots a max length of an inch. That's OK with me as longer ones tend to deflect.

Wonderful!

For the price, I think this is unbeatable! It works really well. I did have to change the coupler to a standard UK one, but that was an easy and cheap job. Would definitely recommend this.

Would not fit

Item came quickly with no extra wrapping or additional packaging....Seemed like a well built unit....Read all instructions then tried to connect it to my air hose but it felt like it wasn't going in all the way and would not lock ! Tried it on a few other hoses with same results The hole on the end of the coupler looks slightly smaller than on my other tools ? Sending it back as I can't use it.....

Pin doesn't get enough power to penetrate

This is my second gun from same company that didn’t work upto the mark It just shoots pin out but doesn’t get the job done Before this I got a staple gun, it never worked too I’ll be posting a video on both non performing guns soon
