Huge Comfy Dog Bed

I purchased the 47-Inch by 36-Inch by 5-Inch brown dog bed with espresso lining, for my very big lovable malamute mix. His name is Rascal. He's a big smelly puppy that is about the size of a small Saint Bernard. We have no idea what sort of dog his dad was but he is BIG. My other malamute Coho can easily fit on most large sized dog beds. Rascal's too big. We needed something giant sized for him. And that's when I found this ginormous piece of fluffy fabric. Perfect! It's basically a huge floor pillow. To give you an idea of measurements we store it under our couch. It is about 2/3 the length of our couch. About the width of two couch cushions. Big enough for even really big dogs. The second Rascal saw it he ran over and jumped onto it. He loves big soft squishy things. He bounced around a little, tried to dig, then rolled his sweet self all over that soft fabric- loving every minute of it's cushiony goodness. Coho's a much more dainty dog- so she just came over and laid on it (no ridiculous hyperness needed). She has a bed of her own, but instead she wanted Rascal's. Rascal didn't care and now they both share. This bed holds true to it's length and width measurements- but it is not 5 inches high. It's about three. In it's thinner parts it's closer to two. It's not as thick as I would have liked it to be- but it's thick enough to give my dogs a big comfy place to lay down. The bottom is a dark brown color fully covered in small rubber dots. I'm assuming these dots are to give the bed traction so it doesn't slip around. We have carpeted flooring so we didn't need this, but it would work really well for wooden floors- I'm sure. The top of this bed is lined with a very soft faux fur material. It's a wood-like tan color. A good color for hiding dirt if you have outdoor/indoor dogs like we do. I don't have to clean this as often as I do lighter colored dog beds. The dirt doesn't show up as easily. (Speaking of cleaning this cover can be unzipped from the pillow and washed- but cannot be dried. You have to air dry it). My dogs seem to really like to faux fur material. It's very soft and warm. Even my cat loves it- and he's picky when it comes to what he'll sleep on. These dog beds work for more than just dogs. I had a foster daughter who would not sleep on her bed. She had always slept on the floor and refused to sleep anywhere else. This dog bed was thick enough to give her a comfy place to lay. She loved it and used it the entire time she lived with us. I've also used it to sit down and read books next to my dogs. It cushions me enough to sit on our floor and cuddle with the pups while I delve into a good book. The faux fur is so soft too! I just want to fall asleep on it. So this dog bed could also be used as a floor mat for kids or a cushion for adults. This dog bed has held up through months of constant use with almost no signs of wear. The pillow is becoming a bit lumpy, but that's no big deal. The outer part is holding up great- no holes or any real signs of wear. When it does wear out though I'll definitely be buying another. I was really happy with this purchase.

He likes it! He really likes it!!

Arrived 1 day early, today - awesome! I opened the package laid it down and my 120 lb. German Shepherd crawled right on top of it without prompting - as if he knew it was his. We live in a loft and have both concrete or hardwood floors so I worry about his hips since he's getting older - but he is so picky about his beds. I have purchased seven beds in the last two years and ended up giving away/returning 6 of them because he wouldn't sleep on them. He would literally drag the them out of his "space" - I guess it was his way of telling me he didn't like them.The memory foam ones were 5 times the price of this bed but he grabbed his ball and crawled right on it - no problem. I would like to have had a larger option but he likes to curl up and has shunned larger beds before - God only know's why. It's seems to be of decent quality, no weird smells, and handsome. The dark brown side seems water proof and when its rainy or slushy, i can reverse it and let him lay on it. Its prettier in person with mocha, caramel color as opposed to the muted brown in the pic Amazon provides - I like nice things and was concerned this would by ugly and dull but was pleasantly surprised. If he continues to use the AND it holds up over multiple washes, I will give it 5 stars and buy 5 more. If it doesn't, I will come back and update my review. I included a pic so that those who have giant breeds like mine can see how it will fit your furry family member.

Nice bed

The bed is not as cushiony as I hoped for but the dog loves it. That is all that matters.

I've only had it a couple of weeks

I've only had it a couple of weeks so I can't yet attest to durability but the bed seems very nice so far. My 85# golden retriever fits on it easily with room to spare and the color complements his coat, too! He does act like it is a little too warm for him but I think that's normal, at least for him. He likes to be cool. It's in my office so I need something that looks nice. The rectangular shape fits into corners where a round or oval one really would waste space.I like that the cover comes off to be washed. But like I said, I haven't had it long so I don't know how it will hold up over time. The pad comes folded in half and seems pretty thin but when you take it out of the box it quickly puffs up and so far has stayed puffy. The actual pad part has four "channels" which should help keep the puffiness because all the stuffing won't end up at the ends. The bottom side has some non-skid dots on it which helps to keep it where you want it. All in all, I think I got the best value for my money. An attractive bed that looks comfy at a very competitive price.

Think Twice if Buying for Waterproof Lining

Purchased this bed as the first bed for my mini goldendoodle. She liked it, but maybe a little but too much. In addition to laying on it, it became a chew toy, a play thing, and in the early days, a place to go to the bathroom when it was too cold outside! We've only had the bed for a bit over seven months and it's already time for a replacement :(. The insides are shot from having to wash it after a few accidents and the back panel is getting pretty chewed up. The funny part is that the feature that bugs me the most about this bed is what attracted me to it in the first place, the waterproof lining. Having a waterproof lining sounds good, but in reality it causes issues. The lining is basically like saran wrap over the interior pillow. The problem is when liquid goes through the cushion it sits on top of the saran wrap, therefore when you move the cushion it runs off - get the picture? This is a problem both after the dog has an accident and after you wash it because the water from the wash stays pooled on the bed. I am also noticing that the saran wrap lining is now in bad shape from all the "digging" and chewing my dog does to the bed. I guess it's time to try something different and not worry about the waterproof lining ;-)

Save your money

Piece of crap. Before I bought this bed I checked the reviews and they were excellent. When I got it the xl one the dimensions are not even close to what was advertised. And they said it was supposed to be 4" thick...not even close. Upon checking the reviews again and looking at the pictures they had posted to my surprise the reviews are for a completely different bed and not for the bed I ordered. Had I known about the false advertising I would never had bought it. I'm really disappointed with Amazon at this point and this isn't the first time I've had problems with them either it's becoming a regular thing with them anymore. I'm ready to be done with them all together.

Did not meet our expectations

We juged the mat too poor quality for out 15 pounds teckel. Not thick enough and the material didn't seem tough enough. From reading the description and other comments, we thought it would do, but we decided to return it. Would not recommend for anything else than a small cat...

great purchase - UPDATE

My dog (chocolate lab - 75lbs) LOVES her new bed. So far, great purchase! Updated The stuffing basically has disintegrated. Not sure how that happened. The outside liner washes well but it has lost most of its "fluff". Unless you get this on sale, I would look for something else.

Nice item but a bit loud

I really like it, I have found similar products for way more money. I love the fact that the cover is removable and washable! It is quite large and fits big dogs well. The only problem is that it makes a crunchy sound when the dog lays on it or moves and he is unsure of what it is. I'm sure he'll get used to it.

Our dog love it.

Our dog loves it. On it all the time. He's a big boy, so any smaller and he won't use it. And it's not to fluffy for him either. Quality seems good. Looks like it will hold up to lots of use.
