Easy to install, lasts a long time.
I replaced these filters in about 5 minutes. I called my son over after reading the worrisome reviews, but everything went smoothly. The tops came off easily with the included tool and I was able to reattach myself. Didn't need to over tighten and confident I will be able to do this again. Will probably wait longer next time, there didn't appear to be any build up in the old filters. I was just getting annoyed by the beeping of the low battery reminder. I did need to drop a coin in the bottom of the cylinder on the first (I believe it was the yellow) sleeve, because the filter dropped and I lost pressure after the first day. Great customer service, by the way.

These filters work very well, but are expensive to replace every 6 months.
The filters do a great job removing the chlorine taste from our water and are simple to install. However, the cost should be lower. For a product that needs replacing every 6 months, $80 is a high price. I wish Aquasana could figure out a way to extend the life of these filters, or reduce the price. A good product overall, though.

Best under sink water filter
I have had this filter for years, if you are a handyman it might be challenging but really it’s not that difficult after it’s installed to replace filters and have the best water the amount under the sink filter can give you, if you just read the instructions it will tell you everything you need to know so if you have questions please just read everything, it’s all right there with the best water, I love tea! Can’t have my tea without good water, and my water here where I live, isnt noticeable to some people but after you get great water like this product give you. You will never drink tap again.. and people just read and stop asking questions that are clearly answered, all you need to know and answer all your questions at your finger tips, but Aquasana will answer ?? With kindness and patience.. great product! Don’t waste another minute reading any more reviews just buy it, you will love it!

Use a Sharpie to mark your sumps before replacing filters
I replaced my filters after 1 year. The water flow was very slow from sediment build-up. In order to make sure I tightened the sumps exactly the right amount, before filter replacement I used a Sharpie to make a mark where the top and bottom sections of each sump meet. So after replacing the filter, I just lined up the mark on the sump and knew it wasn't too tight or too loose. When reattaching to the housing I held each sump from the top so that I didn't inadvertently twist and misalign the marks on the sump. I ended up having to add a coin at the bottom to each sump after finding water flow very low. I had to use long chopsticks to get the coin centered on the protrusion at the bottom of the sump - it was pretty tedious.

The thing is fussy and leaks - we know the secret handshake, though.
After over 6 months of perfect service, we recently replaced the filter cartridges in our 5300 + R. The housings leaked LIKE CRAZY. After being on hold with Aquasana's customer service number for 45 minutes (during posted business hours), we never were connected to a representative, and the call was disconnected. >:( This is what we did to get it to stop leaking: 1.) Take the o-rings off of the tops and wash them gently with a lint-free rag in soapy water and then rinse in freshwater 2.) Take a lint-free rag and GENTLY pat them dry - do not scratch the o-rings, or you're toast 3.) Rinse and wipe out the threads on the tops and the filter sumps 4.) Liberally apply 100% pure petroleum jelly to the o-rings and refit them to the tops of the housings 5.) With same petroleum jelly, use your finger to "caulk" the o-ring into place, filling any gaps between the rubber and the plastic thread 6.) Go ahead and smear some on the top 2 nubs for the in/out water 7.) With the filter cartridge in place, screw the top onto the sump housing - here's the secret handshake: just hand tighten until the sump housing stops on it's own and then BACK IT OFF by about a 16th of an inch. 8.) Reinsert the filter housing back into the bracket and then grip the very top (NOT the sump housing) and twist to lock in place Yes, it will feel loose when it goes back in, but do not twist the sump housing, that will flatten the o-ring and the whole damn thing will spew like a Freshman. Edited: Well, it DID quit leaking, but the pressure was so poor with the new cartridges, we decided to uninstall it and go with a different company. I just think there is a difference in quality between the filters you get when you first buy the setup and the refills. We purchased TWO sets of cartridges and neither one performed like the original install. I wouldn't recommend this product at all.

No problems installing or replacing. Great water quality.
I installed my AQ-5300+.55 filter system six months ago, and I replaced the filters with these 5300+R cartridges today. No leaks. I am a moderately handy person, not a plumber. But I did happen to have a plumber at my house today for a different issue, and I asked him about these filters. He’s installed a lot of them. He pointed out that there are many little rubber gaskets on the connections, and if a gasket shifts out of place or you don’t properly seat a connection, you definitely will get a leak. When you remove and reinstall the sumps (the plastic cylinders that contain the filters), keep an eye on all the black gaskets: make sure they’re properly seated, and clean them off if they seem dirty. My municipal water seems to contain a considerable amount of sediment and other stuff. The new filters are white, but after half a year, the sediment filter is a deep orange-brown and the other two are dark gray. The plumber recommended that I check the filters after three months of use, and maybe consider replacing them after three or four months rather than six — for my specific water supply. I saw another reviewer here who waited two years to replace their filters, and I really, really would not wait that long. My filtered water didn’t look or taste terrible after six months, but it is definitely better with the new filters. In my experience, this is a good product.

Do not buy it if you are not a plumber.
Very disappointed. The installation was lots of work and when you replace the cartridges, the water pipe somehow gets lose and it will leak and you should call a plumber to finish the job for you or you have to buy a new filter system. Do not buy it if you are not good at plumbing.

Expensive but filters well
They are the long ones you need for the model I bought. Double check before you buy that you ordered the correct filtre size. Change them once a year but expensive. Reminds me of ink jet printers.

Best taste water
Have been using Aquasana for 6 years, best taste water! Although the filters need to be changed every 5 months or even shorter for the small ones, the water quality remains very consistent through out.
