Easy to use
I thought this was pretty simple to use and looks great. The sand was pretty clean when it arrived. I did rinse the sand prior to using and I also put plastic over the sand when I started filling the tank it kept the cloudiness to a minimum. Within 24 hours the water was back to clear. I would recommend this brand.

It’s so pretty you won’t want to put fish in there.
Beautiful off white. Bit pricey but worth it. This is a 7.5 gallon tank containing one 10lb bag. Never rinsed. Clear from day 1. 6 weeks later: I’m having trouble planting. It’s a light sand. Not that it floats or anything but it doesn’t “grab” at the rooted plants. Also it does not disguise root tabs. They dissolve and turn the sand gray. If you’re planting, I’d suggest a dirted bottom and a black cap as opposed to white. Live and learn. It is pretty for a small tank with water column feeders only.

Pretty white and very clean
I didn't wash it I put it in as fish were swimming in tank, only 8 white clouds and two fantails. Contrasted well and very happy with look. Spreads quite well, does cloud tank but started clearing up in a few hours amd by next day crystal clear again. I do have a question to it's composition, I only had clay balls in bottom before for about a month and had no issue with brown algae. After a few weeks of this I have a ton of brown algae, they say it eats silica so if this is silica, watch for that. Found absolutely no foreign matter or dust in bag, super clean and my incan snails cruise right across it. I added on top of clay balls and now it's pretty mixed which is bugging me but that's my bad I should have isolated plant substrate to containers because fan tails love mixing it up.

not white sand but it is fine will likely work for axolotls and is cheaper than petsmart

Not white
This is more of a neutral/brownish sand color, like you would see at the beach. Other than being thrown off by the color, it’s good

Excellent
The media could not be loaded. Easy to clean, no dust, looks great. My tank was already established when I put the sand it, and even putting the sand in a full tank I didn’t have any stir up or cloudiness. Just make sure you wash it well.

Outstanding product
I use this as the base for my tropical fish tank. It makes the tank pop and the fish and plants even more so. Not the cheapest but lasts at least six months- with regular filtering of the sand and not overfeeding the fish. *Despite my cats being in this photo, you can see the crisp white sand in the tank behind them.
