Great can opener
I had one of these can openers a few years ago and I loved it so when my son said he needed a can opener I was so glad that Amazon had this very can opener and it will last a very long time just don’t leave it in water too much because you can cause it to rust. I would definitely recommend buying this.

LOVE this!!
I was gifted this brand of can opener about 10 yrs ago. I purchased this to replace it and it works just as well as the first. Only draw back is the grip tends to slide off. My favorite can opener by far.

Works Great
It is sad that this can opener is no longer made in the USA but as sell outs it is to be expected but on the bright side it appears that the quality design is still in place making this a very good if not the best hand held can opener out there.

Solid opener
These can openers are much higher quality than most. Super solid construction - they last for years! I bought this one for my vacation rental based on my positive experience from purchasing the identical opener 5 years ago (that one is still going strong).

Save your marriage. This is the one you want.
There are two basic things you need for successful cohabitation with a life partner - comfortable dining chairs and a functioning can opener. We tried for years with the $5 can openers that have 1000's of positive reviews. Not one of them ever worked right, not on the first day and certainly not on the day that I tossed them in the trash. They were so bad, so often, they'd frequently come with spare parts, right in the box. I don't know what's wrong with my cans or the awesome strength of my turning hand but none of these openers were ever up to the task. Unknown to me at the time, this was also having a detrimental effect on my marriage. I tried everything to bridge the chasm that was forming. Vacations, a new car, a new dining set. Each had its own positive but sadly short-lived effects. Eventually, we'd need to open a can and our happiness would drain, widening the gap. I bottled my emotions in easy-to-open jars because if they were in a can they'd be lost forever. Cold and empty, my life had become a tinderbox and I was searching for a spark so I could feel something, anything, again. Enter Swing-A-Way! Like most nights, we fought the night I made the Amazon purchase. "You spent how much? On a CAN OPENER!?" The walls of a house have memories and if you listen closely, you can still hear the echoes of that night. I sat emotionless, realizing this was my last, my only chance, to save my marriage. The other things brought us short bouts of happiness, but nothing lasted, it couldn't. I didn't want my children to have a broken home. How do you even get divorced during COVID? I'm a Prime member. While I don’t like to throw that around, this affords me certain things like free shipping at sometimes unreasonable speeds. Unfortunately, this was not one of those times. Seems like a lot of guys were trying the same things I was, and the Swing-A-Way was not a next-day delivery. I'd have to wait two full days to get my order. The package arrived before lunch, in a typical Amazon bubble mailer, sitting on top of a stack of boxes in front of my garage. A stack of objects bought to fill a life, once full, but now empty from the void of our love. As I carried these shame boxes into the house, I couldn't have dreamed what lay inside of that Amazon emblazoned bubble wrapper. I pulled the perforated tab and was greeted by a sense of calm. I knew it was a can opener, but I didn't know it could be a life opener. This was a Friday, and I was raised Catholic. I continue to eat fish on Fridays out of habit and canned goods, seemingly, as a means of self-flagellation. Lunch that day would be Albacore tuna. A sign that she still cared was that it didn’t say “Friskies” on the tin. When that round Swing-A-Way blade first pierced the rolled steel top of the vessel, I was freed. Overcome with how effortlessly it poked the metal, I turned the handle. In disbelief, it cut a full circle without grinding or skipping, and without any swearing. When the circle was complete and the lid became fully separated from the can, an unfamiliar “tink” noise echoed through the house. It was a noise I remembered from childhood, a noise which I can only now, fully equate to “love”. It must have called to her too because just as quickly as it happened, she magically appeared behind me like an enchantress. “Ewww, Tuna? Keep that away from me.” With those words, I knew the Swing-A-Way saved my marriage.

Simply the best
Best can opener! we replaced our 25-30 year old opener of the same brand not because it broke, it just got dull. Hoping it's still made to the same quality and it can bring us through a couple more decades! Thanks swingaway.

Spectacular can opener
This is the best can opener I have ever used in my entire life. My last one lasted 10 years.. so I bought each and every one of my kids one for Christmas. Now they're good for a good 10 years before they need another one. They really are super duper.

The perfect manual can opener
These are the gold standard of hand help manual can openers. We have used them for years and none have ever worn out. They are easy to use, don't leave sharp external edges, are very economical, and last forever. We buy new ones to have in multiple locations or for house warming gifts.

Damaged but works...
Can opener works great but arrive covered in deep scratches... atleast its just cosmetic damage, not worth the trouble of sending it back.

Where have you been all my life
I never really liked the clamp style sort of can openers, partly because the previous ones I had either rusted really easily or had the same metal cutting abilities as a slice of bread. One of the ones I used to use was absolutely dismal and I almost gave up on canned goods until I decided to have a last crack at a decent can opener and throw in at least $2. The Amco Swing-A-Way can opener is definitely not a compact design, and hence I wouldn’t call it “portable”. If I had to pack canned food for a picnic I’d much rather get the Shelby Co Gi P-38 or the Winco CO-201 can opener, which comes in what I call a “pocketable” size convenient for taking out of the home with you. As for something that resides permanently at home, the Amco “non-portable” can opener does its job nicely. Clamping this baby onto a can and turning its dial is as smooth as sliding a piece of butter across a hot pan. It’s almost intuitive. The blades are sharp concealed somewhat so that it’s not easy to cut your fingers on it, and yet it’s sharp enough to cut through metal like a MacBook Air cuts through cake. The grippy rubber handles gives you the confidence that it won’t slip while you turn the dial. For people with the same memory capabilities as a squirrel, the can opener even nicely indicates the direction in which the dial should be turned. The blades and gears on this can opener don't seem like it would rust easily, but if it does I will update this review accordingly. I am thoroughly pleased with this can opener; it even has a bottle opener as a bonus!

Very easy to use--no effort at all
Very easy to use--no effort at all. I've just replaced my 30 year old Swingaway because it was starting to rust, not because it was blunt.

A reliable tool
This is the second Swing-A-Way that we have bought. They are very reliable, but in time they do lose their edge and don't cut cleanly. However, this takes several years to happen, and in the interim they are very handy in the kitchen.
