Works great - but too abrasive. Here is the fix...
I have been using a round bottomed wok on my Kenmore/Whirlpool stove -- the stove for which this wok ring is designed -- without much stability problem for years. Then I decided to give this a try. It works very well, and I have come to love it.... BUT there was a rough spot at the beginning of our relationship. The heavy cast iron of this wok ring has a very abrasive surface; the roughness is equivalent to a coarse grinding pad. As I cooked and moved the wok around, the four prongs upon which the wok sits were grinding the surface of my beautiful carbon steel wok. Other reviewers have noted this problem. Some scratching would not be a problem, but this was not just scratching. It was really GRINDING the surface of the wok, and it was far too much to accept for long-term use. My solution was to take out a file and smooth the the prongs that support the wok. That made a big difference in the relationship; wok and ring are now mating happily. If this is a problem for you too, do this: Coat the wok with a generous amount of cooking oil. Then put it on the wok ring, move the wok around, and take it off. Notice where the the wok rested on the four prongs of the wok ring by the oil stains left at the contact areas. Take a file, and smooth these areas down. It took about thirty minutes to file the contact areas smooth. My arm was sore at the end of the task. But now my wok sits and moves well on the ring. The ring does not grind the wok surface, though it does of course leave some normal scratching. My five-star rating takes into account this simple modification. Without the modification to smooth the ring prongs, I was reluctant to use this wok ring -- and I suppose that would be a three-star rating, at best. And I will add a bonus suggestion. The Whirlpool or Maytag stove burner for which this ring is designed works very well with a wok, with a slight modification. This is probably also true for other stove models. The gas burners on this (and similar stoves) have a top flame diffusion plate, which is easily removed -- it simply lifts off. On the high-output burner, one can take off the diffusion plate, light the gas jet (light it on LOW setting), and then cook on a jet flame that is PERFECT for wok cooking. I have attached several photos to show this. Is it safe to do this, you ask? I have used it this way for years to cook on the wok, but it is not something suggested in the operation manual of the stove. Give it a try, and use your own judgment. This provides a big gas jet flame, and you must be cautious when cooking with it. And it works only on the high-output burner. Look at the photos. The first photo shows the file, and the smoothed wok ring prong. The second photo shows the gas flame on low with the diffusion plate removed. The third photo is taken with the burner turned to high -- note that this is a big flame. The fourth and last photo shows the wok sitting on the ring, with the gas jet turned on high. This is perfect for wok cooking.

Solid Support
This is probably the best ring to use for a round bottom wok. It sits over by gas stove grill very well and almost locks in place. The best feature is it is heavy enough that it does NOT move while cooking., My wok is a round bottom 16" wok and it very heavy but sits perfectly still on the ring. Other stainless steel rings seemed a bit to flimsy for such a large wok, so I went with this cast iron ring hoping to get good support and it is perfect!! If there is one drawback is that it can scratch the outside of the wok. I don't move my wok much while cooking, but when I have, I have seen some small scratch due to the ring. But this is a minimum concern. Overall very happy with this item.

Don’t fit right
First one didn’t fit right. Neither did the second. I had to grind a leg down to fit. Works fine now.

Solid Cast Iron Wok Ring for Stove grates with 4 Legs
This thing worked well for use on my Iwatani 35FW portable butane stove. I have a round bottom wok and you could "balance" the wok on the Iwatani but it was not very stable. A traditional wok ring wasn't an option because there was not way to anchor it to the stove. The Iwatani stove has a grate with 4 legs and the notches on the bottom of this Whirlpool wok ring sit perfectly on them limiting movement. As another reviewer mentioned the surface of the cast iron in this wok ring is pretty rough, almost like 80-100 grit sand paper. I used a wire brush wheel in my Dremel tool to smooth the surfaces where the wok touches the ring and also underneath where the ring contacts the grate on the stove. It only took a couple minutes to remove the abrasiveness from these 8 areas.

Doesn't Fit my Stove all That Well - But it Works
This does not fit my strove very well, but I can make it work. I have a few ideas on how to modify it to make it fit better so it does no slip around so much. I took a chance on the purchase so I can't blame the seller and if I can get my modification to wok.....it will be great. That said it's heavy duty and holds my 14" wok very well. If it fits your stove and will stay put, I would recommend this over the thin metal ones without hesitation.

great wok ring, and now it's 3 bucks cheaper lol
Wow, one week after i buy it, it goes down in price 3 bucks lol. Oh well, but this wok ring is great, it does fit my samsung gas range model NX58H5600SS. Actually when placing on the high flame burner, the left and right fit on the grate, the top and bottom fit just inside the the grates, but it it doesn't move, it holds well. The grate itself, is cast iron, and heavy. Quality made item. If you have a joan chen flat bottom wok, then you probably don't need this as its made to hold the round bottom woks, but i put my 12" joyce chen flat bottom wok on it and it holds it as well, so if you want your wok a little higher off the burner, then this works as well.

The 4 Prongs Are Slightly Abrasive; But still a great purchase for Round Bottom Woks
I purchased this for my round bottom wok and so the wok is unable to stabilize on normal flat top cookers. This Wok Ring adequately holds my wok in place over my kitchen stove (I have a gas stovetop) and is built from sturdy, heavy cast iron. I also have a backyard burner which has 30,000 BTU's and this ring is also stable on that surface as well. The only small flaw is that the four prongs which hold the wok upright are not smooth and slightly rough abrasive, so if your the type of cook who "throws" your food around in the wok and moves the handle a lot, this can scratch the bottom surface of your wok. Otherwise, this is a great purchase.

Great for a 14" wok, but very rough
I use this on a Thermador gas range, and it fits my 14" wok very well. It's not a perfect fit on the range, but it's close enough. And due to the abrasive texture, it doesn't slide around once it's in place. The rough texture is also the down side, however. It really scratches the bottom of the wok. One reviewer said that he filed down the rough edges, which I could see working; however I just don't have the interest or patience (or file for that matter) to do that.
