Good lock takes a little longer to pick
These are very good quality locks they hold up well to the elements. They have a few security pins that makes it take longer to pick if you are a beginner. The shackle is fairly hard and cant be cut easily with small bolt cutters. A angle grinder will buzz right through it though.

Better Than Master.
Better Than Master. I was getting Comb Picked left and right by Gang Stalkers.

Only one working key
Ordered this primarily for locksport practice, but figured I could also use it for low-security applications. Just got it delivered and immediately tried it out. Using the first key, it wouldn't open, so I took it out and tried the second key, which worked. I then looked at the bitting on the keys and found that they are not the same. The key that does not work can't even be filed down to work for the lock, since the bitting on the bad key is deeper than the true key. It's not as though it's super impactful that I only have a single working key for the lock, but it is enough of an issue to knock off a star. They might want to be a bit more diligent when packing the keys and locks into the box.

Great lock, as long as you use it for its intended purpose
People should realize that padlocks are very specific security devices; you need to get the proper padlock for your application. I'm stating this, as it's very apparent from reading many of the reviews that people don't realize this. This model lock is a very good *medium security* padlock. It isn't meant to secure your high dollar bicycle on the streets of New York City. It's meant to keep honest people honest. The body of this lock isn't solid steel. It is not going to resist brute force attacks. The shackle is hardened, but isn't thick enough to resist large bolt cutters. So again... MEDIUM SECURITY application lock, which it excels at. I'm into lock sport (picking locks), and this series of lock is a fantastic tool for guys to up their lock picking game. Once you've learned to deal with security pins, buy this lock. It will humble you quickly. It is very likely that you will spend weeks to get your first open on an American 1100 series lock. So yes, this lock has decent pick resistance. Very good for a MEDIUM SECURITY lock. It is full of serrated and serrated spool pins. It is unfortunate that one of the chambers of this lock does not come populated with pins. I'm knocking one star off of the rating, because American (owned by Master Lock) is too cheap to populate all of the chambers with pins. It would likely increase the Bill Of Materials cost by two pennies to add that last pin, but they gotta squeeze every last penny of profit out of things these days. So again, great lock for its intended use. Lock sport guys: buy this lock. Buy a few of them if you can, as they are really *that* good at teaching picking techniques for the pins used in this lock.

It's a decent lock, but...
Unfortunately, these are still shipping (FEB 2022) without the anti-bypass wafer. Lock can be easily bypassed with a $2.00 tool. If you're intending to use this on your gym locker, or to lock up other valuables, you might want to look elsewhere. You can buy the wafers online, but not currently available on Amazon. For its intended purposes, which is a LOTO lock, it's fine. It's just a shame that this otherwise great lock is missing the one component to block an amateur attack. Long story short: As is, can be opened by an unskilled criminal with a easily obtained or fabricated tool in about 5 seconds.

Lock picking practice
These are great locks for lockpicking practice! They're full of spools and serrated pins, and give awesome feedback like "good job" and "you got this buddy." Really good value for people who want to learn lockpicking. American locks specifically are just super fun to pick in my opinion. I have three of them and they're definitely tricksters, in a way where you can respect the design and manufacturing quality. As far as their intended purpose, they're definitely a tougher pick than competitively priced master locks and the build quality overall feels way more refined against others at the same price point. It'll keep amateur pickers out for sure, or at least keep them in a compromising position long enough that they might get caught. The locks won't stand up to forced entry against somebody with the right tools, but they'll keep people honest. Overall, great value if you're a weirdo like me that buys locks just to pick them.

Fits Vault 770
I needed a heavy duty locks for my pelican case and didn’t want to buy flimsy cable locks with a lot of play. Also I didn’t want a solid one with a lot of “play.” Did my home work and settled on American’s lock. Am quite happy. You won’t be able to rotate the lock to get easy key access but you can still insert key from bottom (I.e you won’t be able to see the key enter unless you elevate the case). This is actually good for security. Will pony up for a tsa lock when the time comes but until then, things look secure.

American lock 1106 padlock
I do locksport for fun. I received this lock configured with 5 pins and the last pin chamber empty with a non key retaining actuator. I did not get an anti-bypass wafer meaning that someone can use a bypass tool to open this lock about as fast as with the key. When picking, this lock feels easier to pick than older locks even with the security pins equipped.

If colour is important double check with seller
Received this product, works well as a padlock Purchased for locksport so excited to try and open it without the key Was described as yellow but a red padlock arrived

A decent low cost lock
I originally bought this for lock-picking practice. In that regard it's been a fun lock. Would I recommend it as an actual padlock? Yes, with some caveats. It's built well enough, and the shackle is a good size for going around things like chain links, posts or other items. However, it's not a lock for securing "high value" items, but for locking your stationery cupboard or tagging out equipment that you want to stop people accidentally using, it's more than good.
