VERY easy product to assemble. Very sturdy.

All you need is a rubber mallet and you are set. Nothing else to assembly. Just make sure you have the correct parts in order. These units are incredibly durable.

It provides the shelf space we needed near the kitchen and ties into the space well. The security loop gadget is a minor flaw.

Much Much Better than expected, so I bought another.

Normally, I view Amazon Basics as a hold your nose and hope product because it has a good chance to be suboptimal. These shelves are not that way at all; they are very very good. Machining is precise, all the items fit exactly as they should. Assembled easily. Light weight to move around. The shelve boards are okay, and not warped. No odd odor. I recommend a rubber mallet for assembly. Very pleased so I purchased a second one…. And it was just like the 1st

The frame is a "5" but I'm giving it 4 stars because the MDF shelves are garbage

I purchased this to make a cat tower for my screened in patio. The metal frame is easily assembled with a rubber mallet and the frame is quite sturdy and looks much nicer than what you'd find at a big box store. I cut up some Ikea wooden bed slats that I had on hand and used them as the bottom shelf. Unlike the cheeze-ball MDF shelves that come with the unit, the bed slats are easily able to hold the heavy bins of tile I used to weigh the unit down and prevent those fat cat asses from toppling the whole thing over. The MDF shelves as I said are garbage - barely 3/8" thick and warp easily. To build the landings at each level I cut each shelf in half and alternated the half shelves so the cats could climb to the top. The remaining halves I stored with my plywood stash. After a few months, I noticed the shelves on the patio were getting really moldy - not surprising with Florida's humidity. But when I pulled out the halves that I'd put away - they too were covered in mold. Yuck! I just chucked the MDF that came with the shelves and cut new landing shelves from my scrap plywood. All in all the shelving frame is great but plan on replacing the original MDF shelves with something that can support some amount of weight and not turn into a petri dish.

DO NOT REMOVE MIDDLE SHELF! THE TOP HALF FELL ON ME!

The way this shelving unit is designed, the vertical support bars are split into top and bottom halves. To hold top to the bottom, a shelf HAS to be placed where it connects top to bottom. If you have the whole set up, say, for a long time (I did) and you decide to move the middle shelf (I did) when you try to remove the middle shelf brackets, the top half will fall on you!!!! This is what happened to me. It did not occur to me that the shelf was serving as a support, since that's not what any other shelving unit I own have. Removing shelves on other shelving units does not affect the integrity of the whole structure. So I removed all of the items on the shelf, then the plywood shelf insert, and I began removing the shelf support brackets/bars. Upon removing one of the larger ones, the top half of the shelving unit (with photo boxes and 3 baskets of fabric) all fell on top of me with a huuuge crash. Why is an unmarked shelf a major part of the support?? The middle shelf has no different paint or stickers or other marker to tell you to not remove it! And why didn't the maker just provide brackets with the unit that would allow me to move shelves??? I quit for the day after that. This was the pits. Luckily, somehow, no metal or other object seriously injured me. About 20-25 lbs of stuff fell.

I love these shelves

Compared to your typical heavy duty garage type shelving these are beyond super easy to assemble. I did need to use a rubber mallet to firmly lock the pieces into place. If memory serves the original description says they can be assembled without any tools but that was really not the case. Maybe by someone with a whole lot more upper arm strength. Did not detract from my opinion of them in any way. Shelves are fully adjustable and no super annoying plastic stoppers for shelf support which rarely seem to work right. They hold a good deal of weight and are not cheap looking. The only wish I had was that the plastic end caps came pre-assembled. The ends of the corner supports are very sharp (hence the plastic end caps) and I did cut myself (minor) a couple of time while trying to fit them into place. The easiest method I found was to insert the small end openings and then gently tap the corner into place with a rubber mallet.

Great quality at this price

I can’t believe the quality of these shelves at such a good price. I had a load of heavy boxes to store in the garage and wanted a single set of shelves to hold them. I’d been looking at shelves for three times this price but in the end decided to take a chance on these. I’m glad I did because they were simple to put together and really solid. I would highly recommend them.

Best bang for your buck

Pretty decent, light, sturdy, easy to assemble (only need a rubber hammer) and good looking racking system. It can easily be use in a house. The fiber boards don't have any cover on it so if it goes liquid on it I don't think it will hold up. Furthermore,the aluminium parts were not wrap separately so some were having scratches. In my case I don't mind so much because it's installed in a garage. I recommend the product but be aware about possibilities of scratches on alu. I gave 4 stars for the alu thingy and the fiber board not cover by a panel.

Good value and more than strong enough for the rated weight capacity

These shelves were easy to set up and are strong enough for the storage I need. They were not as sturdy as I thought they would be but once assembled can hold the rated weight with no problem

Great shelving ... bought for my bedroom

So, I'm a no-frills person and I bought this to store clothing on, with some possible storage for various items. I will say this, it's so easy to put up (you don't need a rubber mallet. Just anything heavy you wrap in a tea-towel will do … I wrapped a small hammer up and - using it sideways, it was far sufficient enough). All in all, I can't fault this set of shelving.

Price Gouged?

I really like the shelves, easy to set up, sturdy and look good. Delivery was a nightmare had to wait over 4 weeks ... despite being “in stock” and expedited! This week there is a significant price reduction. Happy with shelves just a bitter taste on price hike.
