Comparing to Filtrete filter
We’ve been using the Filtrete under sink system for a while and have been very happy with it. Sure, it’s not a reverse osmosis system but then neither are the filters in your fridge most people rely on. What we like about the Filtrete system: makes the city water taste better while giving peace of mind that we’re reducing contaminants including lead as we opt for the Max filters. So how about these Amazon filters? You can see by the pics that the housing is different and so definitely not a simple rebranding of the Filtrete filters. That said it fits and does not leak. Taste wise, the water has been improved. If there is any concern it’s that the filter specs aren’t very clear from info on the product page or the filter itself. It mention some lead filtering but a reduced effective time period. All in all, we have no complaints with these filters though will likely stay with the Filtrete Max filters for peace of mind in lead filtering.

Fit and perform well
This filter fit as well as most of the other brands I have used in the past for my under kitchen sink. The price, however, is very compatible to other name brands. I would think Amazon Basics price would be a little under the other name brands? Water seem to taste fine.

So let me start by saying that when this became available, I had only recently installed a new filter, so I have not had the chance to install the Amazon Basics one yet. But, I am really glad that they are now available. Before this I was ordering random ones as I could find them and they were not always available. Amazon Basics has been a go-to option for other products that fall in the intersection of quality and affordability and I expect this will be the same. The technical specs listed are very close to the last filter that I bought, so as long as it functions the same I'll be happy. It is identical in size, shape and connection otherwise. Including a side by side for reference. I won't have to install this for a couple of months still, but if needed I will update this review. I will only say that the ones I previously got were technically cheaper because it was a two pack for $40, where this is individual for just under $24, so it would be awesome if that deal was available for this one as well. Overall, I don't expect any problems and these will probably be my go-to option going forward.

Needed a new filter and this popped up. Works as good as the expensive ones...
We usually buy the more expensive ones but they add up. So I came across this and tried it. Glad I did. This works as well as the more expensive ones, but at a cheaper price point. The water tastes the same as before and the flow rate is excellent(tried one a ways back that killed the flow rate). Very good replacement filter.

Great Alternative
This Amazon Basics version of the 3M Filtrete Advanced appears to be a direct replacement for a filter that seems to currently be both very difficult to find and also even more overpriced than just the name brand would suggest. This filter slots right into my under sink system, with no noticeable difference to its function. The only difference I did notice was that this filter lacked the little "feet" that allow the filter to stand on its own. That's not critically important though, as it was only noticed during the short time between unboxing this filter and installing it, when I had to lay it down on its side. This filter is approximately half the price that I've purchased the name brand in-store previously, and it's at the very least from a brand I've heard of. Of course, many companies do make replacement filters for this system, and I may at some point have occasion to acquaint myself with them. Until then, this filter seems to provide function indistinguishable from the genuine article and at a comparatively very fair price.

Quality, easy install, great price
Product like this are hard to review because they do the job - you install it and just forget about it. They never get the kudos or glory they deserve. They are the unsung heroes of the kitchen, hiding under the sink - doing all the grunt work 24x7 without complaint. Well, for at least this one moment, we;'ll pause to recognize the good work of this hard-working little water filter. After unceremoniously unscrewing and tossing the old (overpriced) filter - I jutted this baby in the slot, gave it a quick quarter turn or so and never looked back. Within seconds we were back to drinking filtered water without fear of being poisoned by whatever poisens that filters like these dispose of. And ever since,, he has been quietly working to save the lives of everyone in this house, 24 hours a day 7 days a week, 365 days a year, 20 years a score. 100 years a centennial. Well sort of,. We'll probably retire it in a year or so, So great value, and works like it should.
