They Fit!

I have a Samsung fridge that’s 8 years old. A few years ago Samsung made a change to the water filter they manufacture for my model and the part that goes up into the filter opening in the fridge won’t lock in place on the new version. There was an authorized online Samsung parts dealer that had them. I bought them that way for a few years for $50 per filter plus shipping. They no longer had the version I need. Found these on Amazon and reviews by a number of customers said they had the same issue and these work fine. Basically filter the same things the original did. Maybe a bit smaller and may need to change sooner. They fit perfectly and water tastes great. These cost less for 2 than I was paying for 1. I've been using it for almost 2 months and no complaints.

Fridge filter

Water tastes great!

Unfortunately our Samsung refrigerator is an older model (2010) the Samsung filters no longer fit for some reason so we needed to find a filter that gave us great tasting water. We've tried other brands and found this particular filter that gives us the same great tasting water that the original Samsung filter did. Happy with the price also.

Changing my review from 1 to 5 Stars (and removed title 'horrible tasting water'). Original Review: I think the bad taste varies from filter to filter, but horrible taste nonetheless. I think the water is bypassing the filter. I am going back to the more expensive name brand filter we used for years. Update: After speaking to reps at Samsung and other water filter brand companies I've learned: 1.) From Samsung: Off brands of water filters are somehow changing the configuration of the water filter house, so that when you use an 'off' brand and it works fine, if you go back to a brand that has a matching configuration it will no longer work. The samsung rep admitted that they changed their own water filter model for my fridge to make this adjustment and now their own filter (still being marketed to fit my fridge) will not work. He had no idea why they were still selling it as compatible with my fridge and whether they would start making the old one again. BAD BUSINESS...... 2.) I learned all of this because I was using the same working brand for years (HDX), switched to Amazon brand which worked fine, but when I went back to the HDX brand (always found at Home Depot) it no longer fit. So after returning that one and purchasing from Amazon again, that one no longer fit. Purchased a different brand from Amazon that also didn't fit. This was all after countless tries. Desperate and no longer caring if we broke something in the cartridge house since nothing seemed to fit anyway, my husband twisted this one in successfully with what must have been Herculean force. After filtering a few gallons out, the water now tastes fine. The problem when I wrote my original review is that the filter was twisted in all the way. This is after knowing this could be the problem and using all our strength to try to get it in (point being, we weren't twisting gently). The reason for only 3 stars on this update is that there is NO WAY a filter should take this much work to get in. And I'm not happy that it had to change the configuration so that previously working brands no longer fit (even the samsung brand). I had to figure out what was wrong with the product myself after purchasing multiple products, something I'm used to being able to learn online first before this much trial and error. So annoying. I hope this review helps someone. If it doesn't fit, but it did before, get a very strong person to keep trying.

Great Alternative to Manufacturer's filter

I had been looking for an alternative to the pricey filters from Samsung, but did not want to sacrifice quality. Many of the cheaper filters did not have the same filtering certifications. Also, a browse through the internet reveals issues with parts coming off some of the cheaper filters and getting stuck in the filter housing. When I saw this premium filter from Amazon, I ordered it, along with one from Samsung just in case. It lasted about the same length of time as the previous Samsung filters and the water tasted the same, so overall its a winner. There were two relatively minor issues. It took just a little longer for the water to become clear during the initial flush. I think I ran 5 or 6 or gallons through, rather than the usual 3. Also, this filter is a little taller than the Samsung, which required me to remove a shelf for the installation process. Once installed, the shelf went back in with no problem. Otherwise, installation was great. No leaks, and it locked in place just fine. No problem removing it at end of life either (other that having to take out the shelf again). One note, Samsung appears to have changed the design on their filters. They now have 3 "fins" along the ridges that engage with the locking mechanism in the refrigerator housing rather than two as before. An internet search reveals lots of stories of the newer filters no longer being compatible with their refrigerator, even though its the recommended filter by Samsung. I just had the same problem with aforementioned Samsung filter. Since the return window had long expired, I found a modification on the internet that allowed it to fit.

basic but inexpensive

Good fit in my ca.2011 Samsung fridge. The "basic" filter doesn't do as much (lower rating), but comes in at 1/3 the cost of the Samsung OEM part (which is rated more like the "Advanced" version). In my case, I picked the "basic" version of this filter for the sake of flavor, and not needing to filter a lot of the other contaminants. Even the "advanced" version would still have been a savings. Installation is easy, though I had to move the fridge top shelf down to have enough room. Otherwise, just follow the (mostly unnecessary) directions-- draw off a bunch of water after installing, to clear the air out of the filter and tubing. It can be a little tricky to know when the filter is seated right, but in my fridge, when the filter seats, it engages a valve in the fridge which creates an audible flow of water into the filter. That's your cue that you did it right. Good savings. Recommended.

It Fits!!!

This Amazon own brand substitute water filter is better than the Samsung original, back when Samsung still made them for my fridge that is. For the past year or more, I’ve been forced to return to the Brita Filter jug in the fridge door and ice-cube trays, and I won’t buy another Samsung product ever again. On a fairly new fridge, useless Samsung stopped making filters to fit it. Ridiculous. All the substitute filters claimed they would fit my fridge but didn’t. All of which rendered my fridge useless except for storing chilled stuff in. At last, thanks to Amazon, I can now use the water and ice-cube capabilities of my fridge once again. This filter fit into place so much more easily than the original. It’s also so much cheaper … a LOT cheaper! And the water tastes great. I went for the 2-pack at a little over £21 … compared to £35 to £45 for the originals. What’s not to like? Being disabled, having these fridge functions back and not having to manhandle the door jug makes a huge difference for me. Thank you, Amazon, for filling this gap.

Fits samsung RSG5MUBP !

I have searched everywhere to find a good fitting filter for my fridge. The Samsung original filters do not fit properly !! I have wasted so much time and money trying to find a filter. Thanks to someone's review on amazon I found this filter. It fits perfect, what a relief.

Performs well and low cost

I have purchased the Amazon Basics Premium Replacement Water Filter Cartridge (for Samsung Fridge DA29-00003G) previously and have found them easy to install and perform as well as the Samsung brand at a much lower cost. I have not installed the filter that I bought this time, as it is a backup and will be installed the next time the filter has to be changed.
