Great albums

As others have mentioned, these albums can be very tricky to put together and take apart. You are not going to want to mess with it once you get it put together. That being said, once you figure it out, they make beautiful albums. I ordered three of these albums (black with gold trim) for my husband's Navy scrapbook. I ruined one album when my screwdriver (yes, you need a screwdriver to open these things!) slipped and gouged the album cover. But the album that I completed is gorgeous. I bought lots of extra magnetic pages (10 come with the album, but you will likely need many more) for the second (unfinished) album. The albums are beautiful mementos of his career, and I love that they are classic so I can order the exact same thing down the road. My recommendation for the post bound system: As you add pages, you will need to add posts (each extra set of 10 pages comes with one post). The albums can accommodate a lot of pages! So, when you add a post, tighten it only enough so that it doesn't feel loose anymore. Your instinct will be to tighten it really tight, but if you do, you won't be able to get it off again. And if you have someone to help you (which I didn't), it would be a lot easier. I hope this makes sense. My final recommendation: If you want to change things around, or add/remove pages frequently, you really need a three ring album system. I so wish Pioneer would make a three ring album this size and this nice that used the same magnetic pages. That would be an ideal system to work with, in my opinion. But if you already know what your project is going to be, and you don't intend to change things later, then this will work and be beautiful at the end of the project. I suggest making your pages as you go, keeping them in the box the album comes in, and then assembling the album at the end of your project / year / whatever. They do make a beautiful presentation when you are finished.

Served us well...

Honestly, who uses these anymore? Turns out that I needed one and, in my mid 30's I found myself building an album with my hands instead of just swiping. For what I needed this for it worked really well. We printed out most of our photos on standard paper and also a few on photo paper to put in the album. Both of them stuck to the pages well. The album is very easy to use, simply pull back the cellophane-like top piece to expose the sticky page. From there, place your photos and fold the cellophane-like top piece back over. The sticky pages are pretty sticky and hold the photos in place. When folding the top piece back over, you have to do it carefully to avoid bubbles...it does "reseal" the page well. It is very easy to add more pages as well. Really, it's just two screws to undo and redo. The album itself looks nice. It looks like the ones we had as kids (if your in your mid 30's). It almost has a nostalgic look and feel. I wouldn't describe it as cheap looking either. Very solid look wise. This can only be used for photos, I wouldn't try and put anything textured in it. Anything scrapbook like won't really translate. Use this for photos. Very happy with the album. Gave us just what we needed and was simple.

It arrived quickly.

I have a number of other photo albums from this manufacturer and am now using them to sort old photos by family. This type of album makes it easy to move photos around and remove or add pages.

A bit compact but best I know of for magnetism and archival display

I give it 5 stars because it's the 'best of breed' and an old friend for many years, beginning with the Holson Magnetic, PVC-free albums. (Actually, the pages do yellow/brown after 10-15 years and I can no longer get refills to renew them.) This is about 2" less length than the ones I have on my shelves now, so it won't fit 8x12 prints and just barely fits 8x10, with little 'wiggle room' arranging a few 3x5 or 4x6 or 5x7 on the same page, the joy of magnetic. But I digress, "it is what it is", the only size in town now, for magnetic (except the jumbo version of this), and the quality is even better than years back, the pages easy to use, and now a flap of binder material to give it a nice book-ish appearance when it grows thicker, which is another joy of this album: expandability. So 5 stars for this, despite my gripe at not being able to get refills any more for a slightly larger version. I sure do hope refills for these are around a long while!

Classic album

Classic photo album like my parents used to use for organizing pictures of me. It probably sticks the back of pictures on it as time pasts, but this type of album is not supposed to peel off once you put your pictures. Your memories will stick on the album forever and that is the beauty of this type of album.
