This is a great slicer for the price.
This is a great little slicers. If you plan to use a mandolin a lot, then you might want to spend more but for an occasional use it’s good. All parts go in the dishwasher so easy to keep clean. I’m glad I didn’t spend more and I’ve had this slicer for more than a year.

Bought this a few years ago worked ok.
Worked great. Stuff sometimes gets stuck underneath at the blade - hard and dangerous to clean. After a while some rust so we tossed it.

Better than Pampered Chef
Much nicer and user friendly than old mandolin from Pampered Chef. Does not have metal pins on handheld guide. Last one tore up the blade and was not removable to sharpen it , due to metal pins striking the blade and ruining it. Lots of different plates for different uses. Love stuff from Norpro! Have their meat tenderizer and got me hooked on Norpro quality. Happy and will recommend.

Can't figure it out
Even with instructions and illustrates, I can't figure out how to slice a cucumber thinly. Maybe it's me. Besides, it traces up too much room to store.

Don't waste your money
I used this for the first time yesterday to slice some carrots, and I quickly realized it's a piece a crap. There's some items you can just look at and touch, and realize they're made in China. The screws that hold down the blade are not countersunk so your food hits the head of the screws every time you go to slice. The plastic is flimsy and unsturdy. Then I realized that the carrot that I'm trying to slice had more structural integrity than the slicer...

Best Bet for the money
My husband and I have had one of these (1 purchased at the Corning Revere Factory Store, and another found in a thrift shop on the west coast of Florida) and have used it, without incident, for almost 20 years. It's sharp, does what it's supposed to do, and the attachments are great. We mostly use the slicing inserts, not the shredding or julienne options, but for slicing potatoes, onions, tomatoes, etc., it's amazing. I start by holding the item when I'm slicing, and then as I get down further, use the guard, which is a must to keep your fingers safe. At one point we purchased a suave, upscale (read "expensive") model, and returned it, because it didn't slice the sweet potatoes as well as our cheapo model does. We've given this as gifts to friends over the years, and everyone uses it without incident or problem. I HIGHLY recommend this! (Sure liked it better when it was $5.99 in the Corning shop though!)
