Great Gadget!!
This item was actually a gift for my mother but I have had the opportunity to use it a couple of times, and it is awesome!! Now, I know what some of you are thinking, "How hard is it to slice an avocado,really?" I know! I thought the same thing before I used this tool. This is a great little tool by Chef'n, that perfectly slices nine thin uniform slices of avocado for you and also cuts it away from the skin as it does so!! How cool is that? Definitely worth a buy if you value thin uniform slices that make a nice presentation or if you are slicing a bunch of avocado for salads and burgers all summer long... zip, zip, zip, All done!! The only thing I would recommend is, contrary to the instructions, start slicing your avocados from the narrower/smaller end. The handle is quite stiff so this makes it easier on you and it lets the tool do all the work. So basically, you squeeze the handle, insert into the avocado and then drag it through, allowing the handle to open up as you go along. Voila!! Perfect slices. Really nice tool from Chef'n!! I also highly recommend their VeggiChop manual food processor, which I did buy for myself, and is so great to be able to process small amounts without all the noise of an electric.

I'm not thrilled!
I'm not thrilled! I had hoped it worked a little differently. It seems like it's best use is for scooping out the contents to make guacamole. It starts out like it will give you perfect slices, but then the ends are just all mushed and you only get half slices. Even if the avocado is firm it doesn't quite make the slice all the way to the end and then you still have to get it to release out of the tines. I've gone back to slicing with a knife when I want good slices, until I find a better tool.

The bigger the better.
I used this with small avocados and it didn't work all that great. I think it would work better if I did not have to squeeze so hard to make it small for the shape of the avocado. The last half of the avocado didn't really cut it kind of just got stuck.

ehh... works fine, but only when it works
Half the time this ends up making a mess of our avocado. We've also had avocados that are too firm for this to press through although plenty ripe enough to eat for our tastes. Probably wouldn't recommend to a friend. Maybe I'll cut the forks out and just use it to scoop out what I cut with a knife in the skin.

Item was better looking on the page than the simlistic one I received. No deception but a small, plastice and not what I would have hoped for. The price was commensurate with the quality so I have no, complaints there. I should have been more aware and careful when i ordered the item. Not the sellers fault - mine alone.

neat idea, but not really necessary
This is a neat idea but didn't honestly work as well as I thought it would. It becomes one more piece of kitchen equipment that you could live without. You could do what this does with a knife. Made of strong plastic but is sometimes too large for some avocados.

Much needed
I just used it last night, works great on large avocados but a little tricky on small avocados, which is why I bought it. My previous one is made of metal and can't bend to fit a small avocado but this one will bend a bit.

Love this tool
We have a 25-foot avocado tree, so when the fruit matures, we are eating them constantly for five months. This tool is perfect for the size and shape of our avocados, which is larger than the "Haas" but smaller than the typical Florida variety. Most of the time, the flesh comes out in one swipe. I have one for myself, and with this purchase, sent 3 to our family up north for Thanksgiving (with avocados, of course!). They all have told me they love it, too!

Not much added value
The product doesn't work quite as well as they make it out in the how-to video online. The slices of avocado don't end up very neat and the tool is hard to clean ... the added value of this product isn't great.

OK but not lifechanging
I eat avocadoes quite often and wantes something to slice them easily. The tool is really useful only if the avocadoes are exactly ripe, not slightly hard (it won't slice through and peel) or to mushy (you end up completely ruining them as you have to hold them in your hand with some firmness)

The flex is the thing
Being able to squeeze the sides of this tool means it can be used easily in all sizes of avocado. I get good results from this and indeed this is the second one I have bought. Yes the avocado needs to be ripe (but unripe ones are a bit nasty!) I recomend this item and found it at a good price here.

Disappointing.
I've wanted one of these for ages...be careful what you wish for. It just doesn't work, which is a shame as I had high hopes. Rather than gently sliding down into the flesh of the avacado, instead it squishes down and you get a big mess. Thinking it was user error (on my part - this is easily possible) my partner had a go...same result...such a shame.
