Needed Item for Remote Locking and unlocking Door

I bought the schlage electronic keypad door lock and everything I read indicated I would have remote capability to lock and unlock the door. When I installed and set thing app up on my iphone it worked fine. Turned my wifi off on my iphone and still worked so I thought I was good. Left my house and checked the app and the lock could not be located. So did some research and found that the initial setup with the app is some kind of blue tooth connection. Never could find on my blue tooth list but bottom line only good for 20 - 30 feet. So you have to buy and setup the BR400 with your door lock to remotely connect. Easy to setup and works great but a bit pricey for something that only locks and unlocks your door from your iphone. I think schlage would be better served to just bundle it all together so you know what you are getting when you buy one of there keypad locks.

"Adding your wi-fi adapter to your account..." failure and solution

My home wifi network supports both 2.4 and 5ghz with the same wifi network name. When setting up the lock my phone was using 5ghz and the lock was using 2.4ghz. This wasn't immediately obvious though. During the setup I would see an error saying 'your phone and the lock are on different networks' but this came up as my phone was disconnecting from the lock's install wifi network & switching back to my home wifi network so I thought that's what it was referring to. But it turns out in order to get the wifi adapter to add to my account I had to go into my home wifi network settings and disable the 5 ghz network so my phone and lock were on the same 2.4 ghz network then after setting the wifi password the adapter was finally able to associate with my account.

Please reset! when sell refurbish!

What I ordered was refurbished. And I could not connect to my WIFI network with it. I replaced it but the replacement did not work as well. The issue was because of that it was not reset. I reset it and it is working well.

does what it says but pricey

First, I don't like having to rely on mfg cloud services and have to make a login and account for stuff like this, but I suppose if you want remote access, that's just how it is. Instructions are not as clear as they should be for various models of Schlage locks. Documentation is somewhat lacking. If you are of average intelligence, you will eventually figure it out though. There are warnings about this not working with some mesh or dual band SSID's in a mesh, but I can confirm that it does work with Netgear WAX610 mesh system running dual band SSID broadcasting. It does the job, but it's probably a 35 dollar solution that should already be built-in to the expensive lock itself rather than a 70 dollar add-on.

Has worked flawlessly for me. Here are my step-by-step instructions for Apple Home Kit Users to get this to work

I was frustrated because my Schlage Sense and my 4G Apple TV were not connecting via bluetooth. Therefore, neither HomeKit nor the Schlage Sense app would recognize the lock unless I was virtually standing right next to the lock, rendering all remote capabilities -even if my "remote" location was simply in our bedroom - useless. Here is exactly what I did. It took me about 10 minutes to set up, and after a day of testing both on my home's WiFi and away from my home using cellular, I can confirm that the system (so far) is working flawlessly. 1. If your Wi-Fi network has both 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz capabilities - and most do - temporarily disable the 5 ghz channel 2. Remove the Schlage lock from your HomeKit configuration. 3. Delete the Schlage Sense app from your phone 4. Turn off and re-start your phone 5. Make sure that you have handy the original Programming Code and User Codes that came with your lock when you bought it. 6. Re-set the Schlage lock to its factory configuration. Do so by a) disconnect the battery connector, b) press and hold the outside Schlage button, and while holding the outside Schlage button, reconnect the battery connector, c) make sure that you correctly reset the lock to its factory configuration by pressing the outside Schlage button and then entering one of the two four digit User Codes that came with the lock (if successful, the lock should run through a quick locking sequence. 7. Reinstall Schlage app on phone. 8. From the Schlage app on phone, create a Schlage account (you'll need to enter a valid email account and create a password) 9. Add your lock to the Schlage Sense app by tapping on the "+Lock" icon on the top right of the screen. 10. If you get an "it looks like you're using a Home Kit configuration" message, tap on "Explore Other Options" 11. When asked, enter the Programming Code from the original documentation, first on your phone and then on the lock. You'll then be asked to establish and name the code you want to use on the lock's outside keypad. 12. *Do not plug the wifi adapter in to an outlet yet*. Tap on the 3-bar icon on the upper left of the Schlage app screen. 13. Tap "Wi Fi Adpaters" 14. Tap the "+" icon. 15. When indicated, scan the QR code on the back of the WiFi adapter with your phone. 16. Plug the WiFi adapter in to an outlet. 17. Follow the instructions, which will include entering your Wifi account and password. 18. Once your WiFi adapter connects, it might ask if you want to update its firmware. Do so if asked by following the instructions. 19. Test everything out from the Schlage Sense app by using it to unlock and lock the door first while your phone is on your local wifi, and second, when your phone is on your cellular network. 20. If everything is working right, remember to go back to the controller for your Wi-Fi router to turn the 5 ghz channel back on. 21. Fly to some remote corner of the earth to lock and unlock your home's front door, while thinking all along: this is the coolest thing ever!

Works with Android and Apple phones

Works with Apple and android phones at the same time. That was the only reason I bought this thing. Can be a pain in the butt. First I had my lock working thru my I pad I think that was using home kit. Easy to set up worked good but my son could not use his android phone. So got adapter did factory reset on lock blah, blah never got it to work. So gave up. So I came to find out if we go on vacation and take ipad with us we can not unlock or lock the door. That defeats the remote feature! So I dug out the little unit and did a factory reset to it and the door followed the instructions and this time it worked and has continued working, go figure. It is a little slower to unlock the door so I set in my truck and wait for my home Wifi to connect. Then the app does its job. I also added a home Wifi extender to my home network the stronger signal to my phone increase my range outside and the time my phone take to connect to the network. Good luck

Be sure to write down your code before you start and reset the adapter / lock once they are plugged in before you attempt to contact them Overall experience not to bad but unit is working great

NOT WORKING CANT PLUGGED IN PROPERLY

The media could not be loaded. First of all this thing is EXTREMELLY HARD TO hookup with my power outlet. I have first seen such things like that in my first life time. Cheaply plastic make for that amount of money.Also I have seen reviews saying it could only connect to 2.4G network so I tried to connect it to my wifi. Not one time, not twice, not 3 times, not 4 either but at least 5 TIME! 5 times guys I am not kidding you or even more than that I lost count. Seriously??????????!!?? Tf in the world this plastic costed me over 80 bucks and giving me such a hassule in my life which has been already hard enough?

Good Product

I was connecting my Schlage sense door lock to my Apple TV or iPad to use with HomeKit. Really patchy connection on the same network and when out of the house on cellular. Took the plunge and bought this to use as the connection instead. Solved all my issues. It’s been set up for 6 months or so now. Always realiable and just works. I get a notice each time the door is unlocked and can unlock/lock and add door codes all remotely as necessary. Haven’t touched it since set up; no issues.
