What the 5 year warranty really means.
I purchased this counter in 2009 or about 4 years ago. I used it for counting laps in the gym which given my exercise patterns means it got off and on use. Suddenly, it stopped registering laps when the tally lever was pushed. I noticed on the amazon product description that it had a 5 year warranty and that the product was sold by Amazon. When calling Amazon, I was told that the warranty was a manufacturer's warranty and surprise, the product was not warranted by Amazon. OK. A more honest disclosure on the part of Amazon's product description would have been to note that this was not a warranty offered by Amazon but a warranty offered by the manufacturer. A link to the warranty that applied and its terms would have been useful. Amazon then suggested I contact the manufacturer for details, but had no number to provide for the manufacturer. I pointed out that Amazon still sold the product and they finally got me the phone number which turned out to be the wrong number although the person I spoke to was a middle man who pleasantly helped me to the degree he could. Eventually, I was able to get the correct number through Goggle. I was told by the Accusplit representative that the 5 year warranty actually reflected a one year replacement policy on the item and after that 1 year I would be charged a $5 replacement fee. In both cases I was responsible for shipping the object to accusplit and paying the postage. The cost for the item new on Amazon is around $8. In short, the purchase price would cost me less than using the 5 year warranty. Amazon should provide warranty details on purchased items and honor the warranty on items in which Amazon is listed as the seller. This is more an issue of principle and not of great financial loss. At a minimum, Amazon should note that what is offered is a manufacturer's warranty. Bottom line, Amazon's help on this issue was minimal at best.

very good considering price
I bought one of these to keep track of my exercise rep's, that is until my wife borrowed it to use as a stitch counter for her knitting...hmmmm!, anyway, build quality is good, maybe slightly tinny, but given its price, it's well worth putting up with 'good' rather than 'exceptional' build quality. A really good, well engineered click-counter can cost up to and over a hundred bucks. Sure, it would be nice if it were a fraction smaller too, but yet again - you pay your money and so you take your choice, and fwiw, the knitting stitch counter my wife uses cost three times as much and wasn't/isn't half as good as this. Unless you need one professionally, one that's going to be used day and night, this will more than suffice for most situations.

Not What I Expected
The one I got works well. There were no problems with it, per say, but I was expecting something different. I hook this to my belt and I use it to count when I'm loading cars. Customers like to strike up a conversation and I lose track constantly. One of the biggest problems is that the counting button can be easily pushed in by accident. The other major disappointment is that it's not spring-loaded. That thing on the side isn't a button but a nob that you have to rotate all the way around to reset. For this price I expected better quality, and, while it serves its function, it doesn't impress on any other level.

Good, and it works!
I bought this to use for counting paces (steps) while working outside in the field.. and it works perfect for that! The casing is sturdy enough that I can hike around with it without feeling I am going to squeeze it apart... thats a good thing! Being right handed, I naturally put this in my right hand... but for counting tallies, it goes in the left hand! (just a note for any left handers... its not changeable!) My counter numbers are not centered in the window... it almost cuts the 1000ths digit off, but it is still perfect readable from an angle. Has worked great for me so far.

Some work, some don't.
I needed three of these for counting technicians to count a process at work. Two of them worked fine and the third didn't at all out of the box. RMAd the dud and got a replacement very rapidly (thanks Amazon). After a month of operation, we just had another one fail after ~300 actuations. Going to buy a replacement and will see how long it lasts. Your mileage may vary, but we're batting .500 on these.

Cheap in cost and quality
I bought 4 of these for counting reps when doing physical therapy exercises. They're great for that purpose--when they work. I was glad I bought so many at once since 2 of them stopped working within 6 weeks of use. One of them got hung up on the "1" in the units column (column on the right). The other would not count up unless you pushed the button at a precise angle. I didn't return them since it would have cost almost as much for shipping and handling as the units were worth. Unfortunately, there isn't much choice out there unless you go to an electronic counter.

Great product
I am a director at a summer camp, and my staff was wanting a way to count more accurately. I bought this little clicker and they love it. It is easy to push, makes a little clicking sound and counts off. It is perfect for getting a count of children as they get on the bus or come into the gym at camp. All the staff like it so much they all want to take turns counting, a job that used to be unpopular when doing it manually. Great product!

Broken out of packaging...
I received this item and upon cutting open the packaging and removing the item it immediately fell apart. There are two plastic bars that hold the sides of this product together that had broken before I even received it. A working copy of this product might be fine, provided that it is used for desk-work. However, I would not suggest that this be used for jogging, working out, etc... any sort of activity that might create the potential for any impact. It appears to have quite fragile, cheap construction.

Mismatch in photo vs actual product
Photo shows full metal body. Actual product is part metal part plastic. This is available in most stationery shops for lesser price. The finger ring breaks off in few months because of the plastic part. Was expecting all metal body.
