Sufficiently Flexible
GENERAL: Manufacturing a universal A/C support bracket is difficult at best so be prepared to modify or replace the nylon support pieces if you consider using them at all. I used the metal shelf and hardware without mods so the package provides a good value in that you have what you need to get started. But bottom line, (if your installation is similar to mine) you should be fairly proficient with hand tools if your A/C installation is a DIY. THE INSTALLATION: The metal (and sufficiently strong) bracket adapted readily to installing a 6K BTU A/C in a Florida room addition on a 12' wide Park Model. The Frigidaire A/C was designed to fit in a window that slides up and down and was furnished with a support bracket that assumes it will sit on a sill of some type. Since I had no sill this support bracket was discarded. NOTE: This discarded bracket inserted up into the CENTER OF THE A/C to prevent its moving, so see below for the impact of discarding it. USING THE LIGHT DUTY SUPPORT BRACKET: A band saw was used to modify the height of the center support nylon so that the top of the installed support bracket sat flush with the bottom window opening. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS for the bracket also recommended moving the bracket to the heavy side of the A/C; this was done. The two furnished and hardened support screws were more than sufficient to mount the bracket thru the modified nylon into the aluminum window frame. This completed the off-center support for the A/C. Two other plastic support pieces were modified by band saw and mounted (using two of my screws) at the two front corners of the A/C to obtain the same height as the off-center support and prevent the A/C moving left to right. Front to back, the hardware did a good job permitting the slight drop in the back of the A/C. In my installation the very bottom rubber pad rests against the slightly flexible aluminum side wall of the outside Florida room but after several days use of the A/C, the completed 3 hour installation works well. Would do it all again.

meets NYC requirements
NYC now requires brackets under all window AC's even in double hung windows (which are great at holding AC's in place) or your building could be fined by the department of building inspection. I got 3 of the longer 160's during the off season on the cheap, which get the job done if you have some DIY skills. I didn't like how this design requires you to drill into the window frame as I wanted to be able to completely remove my AC and brackets in the winter time. I also found the available bracket positions made pitching my AC more outside difficult, and how I had to add more foam insulation under the bracket because it can leave an air gap. In order to defeat most of this bracket design defects, I used a multi-tool to cut a length of scrap wood trim to correspond with the contours of my window casing, then I used my own 1" screws to attach this bracket into that custom trim that now lays sandwiched between the AC and the window frame. it's a bit of work but doing it for all 3 of my units, but after removing the AC I can simply lift the bracket out with that custom wood frame intact, fold and store it over the window for the following Summer. bottom line is there are better designs around, but if you skilled enough to fine tune these to your window, you can save a lot of money in the long run.

Handy Outside AC Bracket
The first thing you should know about this product is that you need to be able to drill holes in your outside window sill. Don't have the tools, or your building doesn't allow you to? Then don't get this. The installation for this is simple with the provided instruction manual. 1) Find the center of gravity of your AC. This is where this bracket will go under. 2) Draw where you intend to drill holes in your window sill. 3) Make sure the air bubble indicator is at the right level (where the AC slopes downwards so that liquids flow onto the ground, and not inside your house). 4) Drill the necessary screws. 5) Attach the wall bracket, and make sure it's flush against the wall outside. Done. This is a good option for secure AC support. Another option is using a brick or two under your AC, which is much cheaper and simpler to install.

Great engineering and for a fair price
1. Ease of installation - did the whole set up and install by myself. 2. No need to drill holes in outside wall!! 3. Great engineering allows you to adjust the tilt of the AC unit. Remember you need to allow a 3-4% rear tilt to allow condensation to drain. This could not happen with out modifications if you used a fixed angled support. 4. Price was very fair. They provide all the necessary parts for set up and installation. 5. My next install with this product will only take me 30-45 mins now that I understand the simplicity.

good buy
I like the many plastic supports that attach to the window sill for many possible heights. This is a little shorter than I thought, but it works well.

Not quite 5 stars but very close
It is very strong, good value! As you can see my air conditioner cannot lay flat because it has bumps underneath and when I try to lay flat then I cannot have the correct angle to get a slight slope downward. But happy, it does the job!

Good construction at a reasonable price.
My windows open horizontally so I built a frame to be able to use window setted a/c. This mount helped me be able to hold up the a/c from falling out the window. I def recommend this product to any one with similar challenges.
