Absolutely love the bags. The hard containers are iffy

So I have been using this set for almost a year. The bags are fantastic. They stay sealed in the refrigerator, the freezer, or pantry. It is a little tricky when you are trying to pack something with liquid so you have to be careful. I wasn't careful enough one time and sucked a bunch of wine my meat was marinating in into the vacuum sealer. It never worked again after that. I had to buy another starter set to get another vacuum. I have sucked some liquid into this new one but as long as you catch it quick, you can blow out and clean with a q-tip most of the liquid and you are OK. The hard containers are OK. I have used them for muffins, cookies and other stuff I don't want to get crushed by the bags. They work great initially but over time I have found a lot of air leaks in. I have tried putting petroleum jelly around the seals which usually buys me a few more days but after about a week or so I find the seal is completely gone. If you do get the hard containers, I recommend getting the glass containers rather than the plastic. The plastic will bend inward when you make the seal and you will have less room than you want when packing something. The bags though I can't speak highly enough about. If it weren't for the bad seal on the hard containers, this product would have been 5 stars. But due to it not holding the seal very long I gave it 4.

Fantastic vacuum sealer! Except..

The bags and container are great (though I wish I got glass instead) the only problem was the weakness in the lid cracked like many others in these reviews. Good news is, Zwilling was more than happy to send me a replacement. No real hassle. They just wanted a proof of purchase picture of the damage and an address to send it to. And even better news is the new lid seems to have been redesigned to be more durable! The only complaint will be all those spaces that will be more difficult to clean.

Bags are work great, plastic containers not so much.

I've been using the plastic starter kit for a few weeks now and I have to say the bags work GREAT. They do everything they said they would. I live in Nevada, and it is VERY dry here. Anything stored in the fridge slowly has any moisture sucked away. Think of pasta dishes where the pasta dries out, the same with rice. Putting them in the bags keeps that from happening. Fruits and vegetables also last longer, and I find myself throwing away less. In this economy, that's a boon. My one issue is the plastic container that comes with this kit. When you vacuum the container, the plastic starts to deform. After a while the seal was broken because the container deformed so much. When that happens, the vacuum function of the container is kaput. I had to return the plastic starter kit because of this. I think the glass starter kit will work better because the glass won't deform like the plastic container. If I had to purchase again, I'd go with the glass kit from the start. Any containers I purchase may have to be the glass versions.

It's ok.

The pump worked great. The bags would not maintain a seal after two uses. The container never maintained a seal.

Adding a Star

I love this product, idea for keeping fresh fruit for weeks and preventing freezer burn. However, I've had this product for 2 months and the charging station cracked. Amazon will do nothing because it's beyond the 30 days. The warranty is good for 3 months. The company WILL NOT REPLACE anything until you return the defective product. I'm sure they will honor the warranty but in the meantime, I'm out of the product for 4-12 weeks until they send a replacement. Even though they see the damage and a photo of the receipt they will not do anything until they receive the defective product. I guess I'm back to rotten fruit and freezer burn for a month or two. This is a BAD customer service policy!!! OK I'm going to add a star, it still cracked and I still had to have a discussion with customer service about the 4-12 weeks for replacement but, to their credit, after telling me they would put a rush on my replacement, I got it in just 1 week. Unfortunately, since I didn't want to wait the possible 12 weeks, I bought another!!.. Ok, so now I have a backup:):)

Game changer

I've alway loved my Food Saver that I've used for years, but not leaving it on the counter or dragging it out each time I need it. I saw a YouTube video with this product and was curious. One little handheld device that could be kept in a drawer? Yes! I find myself using this almost daily now and have revamped my refrigerator and freezer. I buy a lot of fresh produce and have tried other methods for keeping them fresh with little luck. Removing the air has been key to not having to throw so much away and makes more room in the fridge and freezer. Goodbye freezer burn! The downside is that that the bags and containers can be pricey, but they are reusable. The Food Saver bags give you more but are not reusable, so it's a fair tradeoff. I highly recommend this product!

Great investment

I’ve had a food saver for years. This is a game changer. It’s so much quieter, smaller and the charge lasts so long. I have a small kitchen so the real estate for this tool is amazing. UPDATE: The lid to the container has cracked. We’ve only kept it in the refrigerator. Disappointing but it hasn’t seemed to mess with the quality of the deal yet.

Works great.

I purchased this product some months ago and after rearranging my pantry just started using it now. I really like how simple it is to use and it’s quiet. Have had strawberries in the fridge for 5 days as a test in a container and they look like I just bought them. Am going to donate my Tupperware and just use these now. I also like that you can scan the lid code and enter your contents and the date it was sealed.

Great storage system

Am enjoying having a tidier fridge, and ensuring my food will last longer. Only disappointment is that of course the bags being plastic stain, as does all plastic. But storage life is extended, so a savings there!

Excellent product!!

What’s exactly as it should and food last longer. Wish they would have issued a couple more of the liquid barriers for when marinating. Also, the design for the base recharger was not very well thought out or where they placed the outlet on the base of recharger

No more zip lock bags or vacuum seal bags.

Reusable, saving the planet; price on the glass containers are a bit steep.
