An excellent vacuum-insulated steel French press
When I originally received this Zojirushi SK-XAE10XA Fresh Brew Vacuum Insulated Stainless French Press, the List Price was $142. That's quite a bit for a French press, but there were more expensive options even at the time. Probably the only downside I could see was the price, and that's not currently an issue - the current list price of $89.99 is much more reasonable for a high quality unit like this. It works great and makes coffee that tastes great, without being gritty as I'm used to with our existing French press - the half-blocked filter plate and grit block disk design seems to be pretty effective. I found after the typical 4mins the coffee was fine, but 2hr later the remaining coffee was still hot enough to warrant caution before slurping it up. I found the taste to be fuller at that point without seeming over-extracted or tasting bitter at all. I use some pretty reasonably-priced beans that I ground to a course grind just before adding them to the carafe, but your mileage may vary, depending on the beans, water, and probably other factors. This replaces/augments a smaller, single-service glass French press. We thought we might use it for camping, where glass is frowned upon, but it's so nice I'm not sure I'll bring myself to take it out in the wild. They used some pretty complex cardboard packaging to keep the product safe without resorting to Styrofoam. Like, I suspect it actually took a bit of effort to design it appropriately. There are separate user manuals for English, Spanish, and French, so you can keep the ones you need and recycle the ones you don’t need - much better than having a manual three times larger than you need it to be, or having to tear one up so you can keep the important bits. Note: There's a 'hot water' caution sticker that says, near the bottom, "Do not remove this sticker." My wife did not notice that advice and went to some effort to pull off that sticker and the UPC sticker, leaving a residue on the surface that I was able to scrub off, but a distortion in the steel remained that may fade over time but was still somewhat noticeable even after a good scrub and rinse. I've attached a photo of the stickers, their residue (pre-scrub), and the post-scrub distortion. This is pretty minor, and folks may not even notice this if they're not looking for it, and I get that there are probably legal reasons they have to include a 'hot water' caution, but it would be nice if it weren't so visible, or if there were some alternative...

Fantastic
Yes, this is more expensive than other comparable products, but I am a believer in Zojirushi — I have a rice cooker of theirs from at least 12 years ago and it has put out perfect, impeccable rice year after year, even when I'm sloppy with my ratios. I've also had some French Press "incidents" — one of which remains as a large scar on my chest. I've used this twice now and here are some of the things I believe set this French Press apart: • Weight distribution. It's a bit heavier, which makes it feel more stable. Depressing the plunger feels solid — and it does really filter out the grounds later, too — but it is never so difficult you feel like you might push too hard and tilt the press (this is something that unfortunately happens a lot with this type of coffeemaker). • The locking lid. Unlike others I have tried, this one has a lid you can turn to seal the pot while it's brewing. This really moves the needle (along with the stainless body) for keeping the coffee at the right temperature for longer. When you're ready to pour, just rotate the lid to the open position. • The filtration. It's better. No "cowboy coffee" with this french press. To be honest, I expect a little grit in my french press coffee; it just seems inevitable. But I have to say despite my low expectations I was pleasantly surprised to find I did not get any — only a little dust sediment (not grit — smaller) in the dregs. Overall I'm not sure it's worth its current price of $120, but it IS a cut above my Bodum and other similar brands.

Excellent Quality French Press, Easy To Use
While this French press has more parts than other typical presses, it is easy to put together and use. The instructions are clear and helpful, and it's quick to disassemble and clean as well. The construction appears to be very good, using high quality stainless steel with no seams that attract buildup. The design of the filter, which keeps out the acidic grounds, is fantastic. I really like no longer having the dregs get included when pouring the last cup. It pours nicely and when sealed it maintains it's heat all morning. Not only do I have no complaints with this press but it exceeded my expectations and then some.

Reportedly makes the best coffee my husband has ever had
As expected with Zojirushi products (we've had a Zojirushi rice cooker for 35 years, which can be relied upon to function perfectly every time, and we eat a lot of rice), this is extremely well made , with top quality materials. The plastic top has a silicone seal, as does the plunger/press unit, not the typical metal spiral. The double wall, stainless steel construction holds the temperature during brewing, and while being consumed. This can make three 8 oz. cups (my husband likes to decant some after brewing) of what my husband describes as the best tasting coffee he has ever had". (Sadly, I'm allergic to coffee, so I have to take his word about it.) Since we camp and travel, the design of this French press is particularly appreciated. Cleanup is easy. Thank you for reading my review. I hope you found it helpful.

Pretty nice
Easy to assemble/re-assemble and easy to clean. I brew both coffee and tea with this pot. Needless to say, this press can make some rich and aromatic coffee and tea without much effort and minimum residual grounds. They stay really hot and aromatic inside the pot for 3-4 hours and start to slowly cool down afterward. I'm overall pretty happy with this press.
