Functional Bag
Pockets are roomy and easily accessible. Backpack can accommodate a 17 inch laptop or smaller with ease and has storage for power cords. There is a pocket on the top which will allow for quick storage of cables, earbuds, and power blocks for travel. The shoulder straps are padded and comfortable when carrying gear to work or traveling.

Great bookbag, big main compartment, lots of pockets
I bought the larger, 17" version. The dimensions I saw when I bought it weren't right. The dimension that goes away from the back is not smaller than the stated 16" version, not that I wanted/want it to be. It's like they picked a different way of measuring it, or something. The side compartments could be bigger, like 2" taller/up the back dimension, and 2" more outward in the across the back dimension. The mesh gets a little worn out easily. These side pockets has material on the bottom inside that help prevent items from falling out, if you forget to zip it up. (this is ordered top to bottom, and going around outside vertically, then in) The pocket at the very top is really nice/usable, although with a 2cm to 1in longer zipper, so that it could fit my organizer in there perfectly(it fits, just doesn't go in there easily). I can use this pocket to put in my computer mouse, etc... It's really nice, but I'm not so sure on how good this pocket would be with the smaller version of this book bag, books in the main compartment might hit it. The main compartment is really big. It fits all my books, notebooks, binders, gym clothes, etc... Even when I feel like taking a lot of stuff with me, it'll still fit it all. It also has a mesh pocket on the other side that's away from the wearer's back. The big main pocket is the main reason I picked this book bag. The handle looks really strong, feels better if you keep a loose grip on it rather than a tight grip. If there nothing in the book bag, it can flop down at times, getting in the way of the main zipper. The picture looks like the top pocket is a single handle zipper, but it's really a two handle zipper, like I think it should be (

Replacement for my used Targus Drifter II
I bought this as a replacement for my 6-year-old Targus backpack of the same model. Great backpack. Many pockets. I even missed a flight a few years ago, because I was in a rush to catch the plane, put my passport in a pocket I don’t normally use for my passport and couldn’t find it. :-D Lots of room for a laptop, extra clothes, books, whatever else. When I travel to the office, I can even fit an ergonomic keyboard in it. Glad this was still on the market.

Solid Bag
So far, so good. Lots of space and seemingly well constructed.

Decent, inexpensive large bag
This bag has tons of different pockets that can hold virtually anything you might need to lug along with your laptop. A few very minor quibbles so far, bearing in mind that I've just received the bag and haven't tried putting it through its paces yet: - If your laptop is smaller than 17 inches, the 17 inch model of the bag may turn out to be a bit too large. My 14.5 inch machine slides down pretty far, and almost gets lost in the bag. Perhaps the 16-inch model might be a bit better, but an inch wouldn't make that much difference. So if you have a smaller laptop, this one might be overkill. - There's not a perfect place to keep the essential bulky corded items (power and mouse). There's plenty of *room* for it, but the smaller zipper compartments would be very lumpy with the cord brick, and if I keep them in the larger main compartments (the one with the laptop or the other main one), the cords etc. will fall to the bottom and I'd have to stick my whole arm in there to get at them. There is a smallish mesh zipper compartment at the top of the laptop section, which just holds the cord and mouse, though I'm concerned that this will not hold up long term. - There are metal grommets in several places on the front of the nag. When I first noticed them I thought they were for ventilation or something. Nope, they don't appear to do anything beyond being decorative. No harm, it just looked a little odd. - There's a key clip inside one of the smaller compartments. Which is nice, but there's no additional length to the clip, it's right against the seam. So you can't fish out and use your keys without detaching them. My older bag had the key clip attached by a ribbon - still not long enough to *use* the keys, but I could at least retrieve them and have a bit more room to do the detaching. With this bag, you have to open the zipper and stick your hand inside. - On my old bag, the webbing straps you can use to adjust the strap length had plastic finger loops at the ends - easier to grasp when tightening the bag while it is on your back. This one has the webbing, but the loop is just a loop of webbing. A bit more trouble to stick fingers in for a better grasp. - The straps themselves are a little stiff-feeling. They might be a bit irritating for some people especially those who will be loading the bag down with a lot of books, and hauling it through airports or while walking longer distances. I'm tall and broad-shouldered so they seem OK for me, but then I'm going to be using this for car commuting. - The very front has a zipper that leads to a narrow and surprisingly deep compartment. If you have large hands, your hand will just barely fit inside there. I'm not entirely sure would that compartment would be good for, storage-wise, because things could get lost down there. Glasses, perhaps, though there's a nice fleece-lined pocket at the top between the two large compartments that would better for those. The good: This thing will hold everything you could possibly need unless you're lugging entire sets of the Encyclopedia Brittanica. The second large compartment (the one without the laptop sleeve) seems like it could hold a 5-6 inch stack of stuff - certainly enough to handle a full day at college or a change of clothes if you're traveling. There's a fold-down flap that helps hold that space open. Side compartments should hold smallish bottles of water, there are even zipper compartments that might hold a small umbrella. Same problem as that narrow front zipper compartment though: don't put anything in there that might drop down and be hard to retrieve. The padding feels pretty good across the back. There's a nifty "hidden" zipper compartment along the back padding which could hold some small things. I wouldn't suggest putting things like glasses in there (the pressure of the bag might break them), but for emergency cash or even a small wallet, it would to nicely. The front zipper area looks to be just the right size for an iPad or other tablet. I haven't tried this yet - I don't have an iPad, but my Nook Color fits there nicely.

Large and comfy
This is surprisingly spacious, I have been able to fit an awful lot of kit into this enough for working away upto 4 weeks at a time, which includes a reasonable amount of electronic gadgetry, almost fully loaded I have around 25lbs of kit in the bag, the shoulder straps and back pads are very comfortable when fully loaded, these are probably the most comfortable shoulder straps Targus has fitted to a bag (the previous I have had always dig in at the seams leaving uncomfortable pressure points on shoulders), The side zip pockets when the bag is fully packed do not offer much extra space for kit unless the kit is very thin, when looking at the bag there is a section which looks like it is an upper pocket, this though is a full height compartment which is good for folders etc, slightly larger than A4. the lower front being a pocket for some of your gadgets, pens and other fiddly things. There is also a small slide in pocket between compartments at the top soft lined for glasses etc, I use it for my kindle. In the padding at the small of your back there is an additional thin pocket for keeping high value/important documents safe when wearing the rucksack. This is very much a worthwhile purchase, if it lasts anywhere near as long as their previous bags I will be more than happy, I have previous bags which are still in use after 5 years of use, travelling to Africa and back so have been used quite harshly, they always seem to out last the wenger options I have had in the past. So if you need a spacious rucksack for Laptop/notebooks this will be a good safe option. One thing I would have liked on it would be lockable zips, the zips fitted do not offer that option simply, so enough to knock a half star but not enough to knock down to 4 stars.

A great bag but...
I like the design of this bag, in fact, I like the bag so much I've bought at least 5 of them in the last 4 years. There-in lies the problem though, they don't last. The biggest issue is the straps, they break at the bottom of the padding making it very uncomfortable to use once it's broken. I've put up with that sometimes because it was only a month old at the time and then the top handle has broken, the plastic breaks making it painful to carry. Of course, I was only using the handle because the back-strap had broken. It's a big bag obviously designed for a 15 to 17-inch laptop (I use a mac book pro), I carry an iPad, several cables, the odd battery, headphones, sometimes some clothes for a day trip and often a water bottle in the side pocket. Heavy? yes, it's not a light load but it's not so much that the bag should break after a month of usage. The number of pockets is what I really like, I can separate my gadgets and "stuff" into different pockets. All that said, I'm just about to order yet another because the one I have has a broken strap again and I'm fed up with it, I just can't find anything like it though.

Capacious bag but questionable longevity.
I bought this bag about nine months ago and have found it quite useful; I won't be using it much longer, however. It has an enormous capacity, but is quite light in itself and comfortable to carry to work and back. I have used it on one or two occasions at full capacity, when it almost becomes too unwieldy to carry. There are a multitude of compartments and pockets of varying sizes. One of the most useful pockets is at the top of a large compartment which means that if you open the zipper on the compartment, the whole front of the case flops down and the thing can overbalance unless you have something heavy in another compartment. This flopping may be why the stitching alongside the compartment has come adrift (see first picture). Unfortunately, this is a bit of a problem, as it is slowly becoming worse and eventually the whole front of the bag will be open to view. The zip on the aforementioned useful pocket has come off the rails, too - the stitching at one end has unravelled allowing the zipper to fall off (see the second picture). Since I paid about £65 for this, I expected it to last for eighteen months or so before anything like this occurred, so I give the item three stars because it is useful and nice to look at, but not either of the top grades because I feel there's a question mark over its longevity when used regularly at median capacity.

This can more than comfortably hold a 17" with loads of other stuff
I'd you have a big laptop you need a big case! This can more than comfortably hold a 17" with loads of other stuff. Only gripe I have is they know the large laptops are three most expensive workstations or gamers - why nor put more effort into the laptop protection. Yeah there is some, but maybe a more rigid compartment with more bottom cushioning.

Great bag! Would definitely recommend for those who need the space
A tad bit bigger than I expected, but plenty of pockets (a few hidden ones too) and enough space to pack my digital (portable chargers, laptop, tablet and accessories) and clothes and supplies for a 3 day camping weekend away! The build so far is great, and would probably report back here in the future after a month or two more of use. I've read a few reports about the zips not holding up and all, but I haven't had any problems so far (I probably haven't been using it as much as some other people). It's good for a day to day work commute (especially if you need the space), but there are better looking "work" backpacks.
