I love it so much
This was my first time buying gouache and Windsor and newton is the one brand I trust for my paint. The paint is so pigmented and rich, I’ve been using it all the time. Gouache paint now ranks in my top 3 favorite paints. Ai bought this because I needed it for a tiny watercolor pallet I bought from Etsy. Literally fell in love with the paint.

Why didn’t I try this sooner?!
I’ve been using cheap gouache to see if I would like it and I fell in love with the art medium. Wish I would’ve purchased this sooner. It’s a great price and amazing pigment and quality!

Very opaque!
So, little disclaimer here, I'm new to gouache. (Literally started using it five days ago.) I previously bought and have been using Reeves gouache to play with until these arrived since they were cheap AND on sale. There are HUGE, noticable differences between the two. Yet I love them both. Man oh man, I thought the Reeves was bright, these outshine them 100%! Pros: -They're very opaque, and cover well. Even light over dark. -They dry fast. -They mix well. -They are chocked full of pigment. -They don't lift off each time you try to add another layer (*cough cough* Looking at you, Reeves.) Cons: - The white loves picking up the other colours if they're still slightly wet. -They have an odd smell. Especially the green. -They will stain plastic pallettes, I advise a ceramic plate or pallette instead just to be safe. Y'know, unless you don't care if it stains it then don't worry about this flaw! -Maybe this one is my brushes, but I used different types and got the same result. The paint just loves staying in the brushes! Make sure to dab them off on a tissue just to make sure all pigment is out before switching colours. I did not however have this problem with my water brushes. (Niji and Pentel.) That's about it, honestly these paints have already made a huge impact on my life and I just got them today, lol. I hope you all take the plunge and buy these! They're worth it. Woooorth it! (Though if you can't afford them, definitely buy Reeves, they're not as bad as people make them out to be, you just can't go as heavy with them, you gave to use them more like a watercolour.)

My set came defective
It took me a while to understand gouache until I bought several brands to see how gouache should behave. My Winsor and Newton Designers Gouache 6 Tube Set came defective. My Primary Blue was streaky and dried glossy. Permanent Green Middle sometimes would randomly dry matte or semi gloss. Primary Red and Primary Yellow were streaky with and without water. It took me a while to get used to gouache until I bought several other brands of gouache to compare. Because I was new to gouache, I spent days trying to figure out how to learn the medium that I missed the 30 day return for refund. A few months later, my Winsor and Newton Designers Gouache became unusable and had to dispose them. There was pigment separation, Primary Red had bubbles coming out of the tube every time I squeezed it, and my Primary Blue and Permanent Green Middle still dried glossy. I bought gouache because I wanted a medium that would dry flat, matte, and opaque. I heard that gouache was a good medium to use as a watercolor too, but my set wasn’t suitable for watercolor effects. I noticed that the white tubes were still circulating as well as the old tubes. The new tubes come in silver now. I went to Michaels to buy this brand open stock but I chose not to because the gouache Michael’s had were old tubes, dried and hard, and the cap was falling apart. I asked when were they going to restock and the employee said that they didn’t know. I bought a 10 Tube Set from the Dick Blick online and the problem was exactly the same (but I was able to get a refund this time). Primary Blue still dried glossy, Primary Yellow and Primary Red were still streaky, and Permanent Green Middle would dry glossy unexpectedly again. I couldn’t believe Winsor and Newton was selling old and/or defective gouache while artists online were praising Winsor and Newton. I expected Winsor and Newton to be a great brand to use because no one seems to have a problem. Winsor and Newton should seriously check that their products are working well before selling them. Massaging the tubes doesn’t work because it had no effect. I tried putting them on pans to dry but they were so difficult to reconstitute. Not only that, but gouache is not the same reconstituted than squeezed fresh from the tube. I’m not a fan of mixing white because it always looks milky. I needed to use more white sometimes to reduce the look of streaks and glossiness, but I want to use bright vivid colors both diluted like watercolor or tick and opaque kinda like acrylic without needing to add white. The Zinc White was kinda gross to work with. Kinda slimy and hard to clean off the brush even with a lot of water. I really want to use Winsor and Newton Designers Gouache because their colors are bright and look nice, but they can’t seem to be in good condition. I hope future sets and open stock tubes come in better condition soon.

Amazing paints, horrible delivery service
Product is paints, shap and standard. Love the product. Don't like the product was deliver by a 12 year old child. Amazon.com will not let me report this

Good paints but our set wasn't brand new
This is a good product, but the particular set we were given seemed like it had been opened and returned. The glue was seeping from the bottom of one of the tubes, and it smelled really bad. Some of the other tubes clearly had been opened. We needed to use it for a project so didn't have time to return it, but it was disappointing given the price.

Rotten and exploded
Within 3 months of having these the black paint exploded and seeped this disgusting rotten scent that went through the box and ruined the stuff in the drawer under it It was so horrible

Love this gouache!
Winsor and Newton gouache is fantastic, and it is nice to have all of the primary colors in one set. I have had only the primaries for over a year and find I can mix any color with this set, as they are true primaries. The quality of the paint is amazing. It dries very matte and is a joy to work with. I do find that the white is a little thick to work with sometimes, and I enjoy the M. Graham one, but honestly, you just have to mix in a good amount of water with the white and it works great. I would definitely recommend!

Great gouache, red cracks on palette when dry.
Gouache is wonderful. Using it along with my watercolour. Colours dry well on my palette other then the red which cracks a lot. Will buy again other then the red. All colours would be perfect using out of the tube.

If you buy quality, you get quality.... great paint!
Windsor and Newton is a highly recognized and recommended paint in the art world. My wife is very happy with this paint and says that if you pay for quality, you get quality.... simple.
