Cancer ladle? No Thanks!
The ladle arrived today, looking solid and good, except that it came with a generic CA Prop 65 Cancer-causing item warning (excerpt below). It says "Stainless Steel India" on the handle, which i would normally think is a good sign. Now i'm not worried about a prop-65 warning on a tarp or something, but this is a food item and i need to serve food with it at my workplace. I can't be using a cancer-causing ladle! I can't find a way to contact Winco directly, but i would love to know what chemicals it contains, or some explanation. "...over 800 chemicals are known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. The law requires that businesses with 10 or more employees warn you prior to knowingly and intentionally exposing you to any of these chemicals when the exposure is over a certain level. This product contains chemicals known to the state of CA to cause cancer, or birth defects, or other reproductive harm..." It did come with some sort of black substance smeared on it just a tiny bit... maybe i better go wash my hands!

Rubber-like handle coating odor
This is an inexpensive, unremarkable ladle that would be great except the black handle material smells like gasoline which does not go away after repeated washing. I wonder if I received a legitimate "Winco"-brand product since there are no markings or packaging materials to speak of (other than a plastic bag full of fumes). The smelly, slightly tacky, black rubbery plastic handle is likely the source of the California Prop 65 warning mentioned by another reviewer. I generally disregard Prop 65 warnings since they'd be on almost every manufactured product if they weren't a California-only requirement, but it's interesting in this case since any risk is likely increased when the material is emitting fumes. I'll replace it with a non-coated handle version and *maybe* Plastidip it myself, and let it cure properly.

Cheap and not worth it
The stainless steel started cracking within 2 weeks of use. Soup ladles are in the soup all day and they need to withstand high heat. This is not it. Look elsewhere if you’re going to use this for your restaurant if you have a buffet.
