Could use more instructions for distinguishing hot and neutral.
I’m so happy I found this! I originally ordered a hemp rope looking plug in wire for a vintage lamp shade I bought, not thinking about how small the opening to the lamp cage would be. I struggled so much with the other cord- some reviewers claimed the socket could be unscrewed, when it just could not. I ended up cutting the wires and reattaching them, but all the fiddling I had done had damaged it too much. Suffice it to say I’m glad I had a surge protector. This product is perhaps a bit less sexy, but does the job perfectly. I bought a vintage socket to go with it, and am happy with how straightforward it was! For the other amateurs out there: the manufacturer’s instructions tell you to look for the ribbed wire, as that is the neutral. I couldn’t tell which was which; it took me a while to read articles online to figure out that they mean this very thin line on the edge. You can feel it on the neutral, the hot wire is smooth. Another way you can tell which is which: the polarized plug; the larger, more rounded ends where the neutral wire terminates. It also had small print on it. 10/10 would recommend!

Does what it is supposed to do
We "inherited" a vintage floor lamp and then discovered the plug had been cut off near the wall and simply spliced back together and wrapped in electrical tape. Since the lamp is more than 5 feet tall, I searched for a longer replacement cord. This on fit the bill on that account and was easily pulled through the tube to the fixture using the old cord, though a fish tape could have been used if needed. Cord secured easily to the screw terminals on the lamp fixture. We now feel better about leaving the old lamp plugged in around the clock and the safety of our pets if they get near the plugin.

Pictures misleading
Bought this because all the cords at Home Depot/Lowes were a putrid yellow color. This is the same sickly yellow, not gold as the photos would have you believe. It’s a power cord and works as such but regardless, if you need it browner than the submit button on these review, steer clear.

I loved that these came in a two pack, perfect for restoring a pair of vintage swag lamps
We used these to refurbish a pair of vintage swag lamps. The cord is quite a bright gold/yellow color, but thankfully the bronze chain mutes the color down a bit. It would be nice if these were offered in a bronze color, but that's my only complaint. These were 15 feet, which matched the chain length perfectly of my swag lamps. I appreciate that because the only ones sold at the hardware store were 9 or 12 feet.

Wire labels would be nice
There's not much that can be said about a replacement wire like this. It arrived exactly as described. The only thing I can say is that I wish the cables were marked. It would have been nice to not have to trace the cable back to figure out which side was neutral and which was hot.

Yup!
I fixed my old lamp and feel pretty cool right now. The cord is long and matches my old brass reading lamp pretty good! I'm not worried about my house burning down anymore! Good stuff.
