Excellent value -- light works well and can be modified

This review is of the 7" version, which we purchased to light up a very small watercolor under glass. In my picture, you can see light reflected on the painting's glass -- those are windows and a chandelier across from the picture. There is no reflection from the Westinghouse picture light onto the picture, and the LED color is a very nice warm temperature which illuminates the colors of the picture very well. We did put it on a Kasa smart switch (also purchased on Amazon) so we could dim it, and that works well -- we set it at about 25%. Also, like another reviewer who used electrical tape as a mini shade, because this picture and lamp is right over our couch, I used double-stick tape and theatrical black wrap (black aluminum foil) to fully hide the lamp part of the light from view. And I've ordered a paintable cord cover to hide the cord coming out from beneath the picture. Before this, I tried a much more expensive light, but their smallest option turned out to be much too big, and it also really jutted out from the wall -- not what this little gem of a painting needed. I will probably purchase another of these Westinghouse LED picture lights for a larger glass-covered oil pastel painting.

A really nice touch of ambient light

I'm not an art collector living in a mansion or anything, but I do have a couple nice limited edition photos that I like to draw attention to. I also like my home to have a nice chill, ambient vibe, which means absolutely NO overhead (ceiling mounted) lighting, so these fit the bill nicely. I knocked off one star because they are a bit too bright sometimes, and I wish they were dimmable. Sadly, all you get is an ON / OFF switch.

Easy installation & great lighting

This worked great for my 20x30 canvas print. Installation and adjustment of the light were easy. Screws and anchors included. The only thing I wish this light could do is have a dimmer setting.

Didn't work for me

I couldn't attach this to the frame because my frame slopes inward toward the painting (as do most traditional frames) Also - it would damage the frame (it's an antique). We returned and will search for other options. Fine for a flat, modern frame though.

Good for the price

We find the light is just right, not too bright and not too dim. The best light is about two feet wide and goes down about 18" and then it gets darker toward the bottom of the pictures. When you extend the telescoping arm, it is not the same color as the rest of the light (we ordered the oil rubbed bronze/black and the inside of the telescoping arm is silver) but it's not terribly noticeable unless you are standing up against the wall right next to the picture. It's flexible enough to bend into the position you want. We bent it down a little so the light wouldn't shine in our eyes, but it still did so we added a strip of black electrical tape to the bottom so that you can sit near the light and it no longer shines in our eyes but still lights the painting well. We only stuck the top half of the strip of tape to the light so that the bottom half of the tape hangs down like a curtain. It sounds like it would look cheap and sloppy but you don't even notice the tape on it. The actual light bulb is covered by a clear plastic diffuser, and the light is LED anyway, so we don't think heat will be a problem with the tape. We also got one in brushed nickel for use on a nickel frame and we just ordered a roll of gray electrical tape to make a curtain so that it doesn't shine in our eyes, but I don't know if the tape will not be noticeable on the lighter color light. When you compare this to the MUCH pricier picture lights, this is a pretty good value for the money. Lighting a painting REALLY brings it to life...I don't know how we lived without these for so long.

Needs more flexibility in pointing

The lamp needs to rotate down and towards the painting more than it does. The light shines into the room and is distracting and the lower part of the painting is not lit well at all.

Warm Glow

Its warm and from what I can tell you cant see the individual LEDs like other say. It is bright though.

Disappointing performance

Light flux is low for mid-sized paintings. We installed two lights side-by-side and still found it wanting a higher lumen rating. Use only for tiny works with lots of light reflective colors.

Inexpensive and Perfect for What I Wanted

Some reviews mentioned this item seemed cheap - I don’t feel that at all. Super easy to install, works perfectly for what I wanted - installed over a piece of custom art. I bought the smaller size in brass - my painting is a 1.5 ft by 1.5 ft square. The light is even lovely in the room when it’s the only thing on. The painting is oil and I worried it would get hot - it never does. My only issue is the cord hangs down behind a sideboard and the switch is really low, close to the plug in part so you have to be able to access it easily to turn it off and on. The on /off switch could have been more in the middle of the length of the chord. Other than that I’m super happy with this purchase !

Very Good Quality

These lights are relatively bright, they're well built and actually dimmable. We're using them affixed to a headboard, and they suit that purpose well. The light cover is frosted white so the LED light is dispersed evenly without glare that could bother people with sensitive eyes.

Works Pretty Well

Bought this to use as a light over our darts scoreboard chalk board. The light works well. The biggest complaint I saw before buying was that people said you couldn't adjust the downward angle. You can adjust the angle and it shows you how in the included instructions. However, this is done by bending the metal neck downward, not by adjusting the light head itself. So, there is a limit to how far you can adjust. For our use, it worked fine and I bent it to an angle that worked.

Light is Not Designed to Properly

The light works but throws an image of the light on the Painting, my other Art lights do not project in that way!
