Great Style... Easy Installation... Terrific Quiet Operation.
UPDATE#2: After emailing Westinghouse and explaining my issues, they're sending a replacement. (it's actually running now, but doesn't sound quite right, a slight scraping sound on medium and high speeds) It was all taken care of in 2 emails. (the first asked for pertinent information, invoice, model number, etc.) VERY Satisfied with the customer service. Of the four ceiling fans in my home, this is my favorite and most used, so I'm glad that I'm able to replace it. I would give it 5 stars if it weren't for having to replace it so often. UPDATE: I'm on the third replacement fan and now the motor quit. Each of them has lasted less than 2 years. Amazon replaced the first two but this time told me to go through the manufacturer for a warranty replacement or repair. From an earlier conversation with Westinghouse, there will be a charge plus shipping. I'm still waiting for a call back from them. The first 2 went out because of the bulb mechanism failing (they've changed that on the last one, but bulbs still don't seem to last long), this time the motor just came to a grinding halt and quit working. I already replaced the remote mechanism at my own expense rather than go through the hassle of a return and less than a month later I'm replacing the entire unit. VERY DISAPPOINTED. Not only will I have the hassle of returning it AGAIN, but I'll be without a fan and light for however long it takes to repair or replace, not to mention the expense. I started out loving this fan (five stars) but now I'm hating it. I just put up this fan in about an hour. Installation is pretty easy and straight forward.... after I found the installation instructions online. Mine came WITHOUT instructions. Pretty daunting when you open the package and see all the parts and no installation instructions, but after a brief search for Westinghouse and Solana, I found the instructions on pdf., which actually made it easier because I was able to enlarge the images. The light isn't quite as bright as I'd like, but I love the ability to dim it. I'd definitely recommend this fan and in fact wish I'd put it up in all my rooms.

The Fan Looks Great
It took a couple of hours to install (I work slowly, especially when working with wires) but finished product looks great. It's the quietest fan I've had. I can understand others complaints about the light being a little dim, but it suits my needs. The problem I'm having, and reason for the lower star rating, is that the light and fan occasionally turn themselves on. The light will wake me up in the middle of the night when it comes on, and I'll often find one or the other on when I come home from work. I checked the wiring several times but I can't see how that would be the problem with no wires exposed or touching. It seems like it could be a problem with the remote receiver, but I don't have a good way of testing it. The fan and light respond perfectly every time when I use the remote. I may have to just unscrew the light bulbs so I can sleep at night and just deal with the fan turning itself on and off from time to time. ****** Update ******* I took the time to read the instructions more carefully, and it does mention that you can change the frequency of the signal being sent from the remote control to the receiver if there is interference. There are four very small switches on the receiver and four very small switches inside the battery case of the remote control. If you are having the same issue I had where the fan and/or light turn on or off at random times, I suggest changing the switches to a different frequency. It worked when I tried it. The fan now works great. I'm upping the rating from 2 stars to 4 stars.

Hmmmmm!
I like this fan.......looks good. Now the gotcha. It works flawlessly, is quiet, has a neat remote, it also stinks. Not an electrical, fixing to Burn your house down kind of smell, but an odor produced by something overheating. I think the problem emanates from the bulbs in the fixture. I cannot place my hand on that globe with the light on the fullest setting. I have taken to dimming the light and that helps considerably, except for keeping my kitchen dimly lit. I have seen this stated before on the reviews for this particular fan, however I would like someone with a similar problem, that has resolved it, to post back on here. Maybe over time the smell will dissipate, time will tell. For now I am giving it four stars, if I solve this smell problem I will upgrade it to five stars, however if it does not go away I will downgrade it to two or three. Otherwise I love the fan. 11-04-13 I have had this fan for a few days now, and did manage to correct the smell problem. As I previously mentioned I attributed the acrid smell to heat emanating off of the globe bulbs. Apparently a 60 W incandescent bulb generates too much heat for the fixture. Dimming the fixture, as I mentioned, does help the heating problem but then again you could probably also run 40 W bulbs, or less, and eliminate the problem. This light does not put off enough light to where I care to do that. What I did do is change the bulbs to 60 W mini spiral candelabra bulbs from GE. They are 13 W, which is the equivalent of the old 60 W incandescent. it's tight fitting but no problem so far. And the best part is there is only a minute fraction of the heat dissipated while still retaining the output. Add to that they have a seven year life span and saves on your electric bill. As you may have noticed I upgraded my rating to five stars.

Nice ceiling fan
Nice ceiling fan, but I was surprised it was able to cross the border as it is not certified for the Canadian market. Item was returned.
