Functional, but quality issues
UPDATE. With the mounting plate replaced, and the unit mounted, I can add a couple of stars to the rating. I bought the Arlo Pro 3 Floodlight Camera to upgrade the Arlo Pro camera guarding my driveway. I liked the idea of adding a floodlight to the driveway as an extra security measure. Around the house, have six Arlo Pro cameras powered by solar panels and six Arlo lights. On the front door, I have an Arlo Pro camera and an Arlo doorbell camera. Also, I have a couple of Arlo Qs inside the house. In other words, I'm a long-time Arlo user and have generally been an Arlo fan. I had to order a replacement for the mounting plate because I made the mistake of using the screws that came with the unit to mount the unit to wood. Even with pilot holes, the screw head stripped, and I damaged the cheap plastic mounting plate trying to get the screw out. My bad. I've worked with Arlo stuff long enough not to trust the cheap components that come with it. Arlo customer service was accommodating and sent a replacement mounting plate. I went to the hardware store to buy wood screws and used them to mount the replacement mounting plate. Using wood screws, the installation was simple, took a few minutes. A concern, the only thing holding the big unit against the wall is a tiny screw. Even when it is screwed in tightly, the unit still twists on the mount; so, we'll see how long the mounting lasts. Also, mounting the heavy unit on a plastic mount seems risky; the unit wobbles in the wind. I recommend that Arlo rethink the mounting plate option, replacing it with a deeper metal plate for--at least give the impression of--improving quality. The image quality is exceptional, and the floodlight brightly lights the entire front yard. The floodlight triggers almost instantly, about 1 second lag time from motion to light. I wish I could say the same for the camera. Even with the strongest Wi-Fi and fastest Internet connection money can buy, my Arlo Pro cameras have a 5-8 second lag. I was expecting a similar lag time with the Arlo Pro Floodlight Camera. I was disappointed to find that the lag time is usually worse, from 8 to 20 seconds. I know that Arlo might blame that on the Wi-Fi network or distance from the base. But, the lag time remains the same if I test it five feet from the router without any obstructions. That means someone can walk from one end of the view to the other, and the camera only captures them leaving the view. The motion detection is strong. Set at 80%, the light and camera capture movement up to 35 feet away, easily covering the entire driveway and sidewalk. I can't speak about the battery life yet. But, be prepared for a huge battery. The battery is 3 times longer than the standard Arlo battery, but it still fits with the same charger. I have a mount for an Arlo solar panel that I used for the Arlo Pro camera. However, Arlo Pro Floodlight Camera requires a different solar panel ($60) or a different outdoor cable ($50 for 25 ft.) for external charging. I'll wait for the first battery charge to wear out before buying the solar panel. The auto-tracking feature is kind of cool but seems experimental at best. It degrades the images. Also, it has difficulty tracking the motion. It gets confused if there are multiple moving objects in the frame. For example, if I'm walking in the driveway, it focuses on the flag waving on the edge of the view. PRIOR REVIEW I will update this once I have a working system mounted. Meanwhile, a tip: If you're mounting the Arlo Pro 3 Floodlight Camera on wood, toss the screws that come with it and get some real wood screws from the hardware store. The screws that come with the unit melted. The heads stripped as I screwed them in by hand. And, yes, I drilled pilot holes. Attempting to hack saw the screw, I damaged the cheap plastic mounting plate and had to call customer service for a replacement. I blame myself. As a long-time Arlo user with seven cameras, six lights, and five solar panels, I learned long ago that Arlo's functionality is solid. Still, Arlo components are cheap, especially the mounts and the mounting screws. I usually buy third-party components before mounting Arlo equipment; but, no third-party mounting components are available for the floodlight camera. Meanwhile, as an Arlo user and fan, a suggestion for Arlo: Sweat the small stuff! Improve the quality of the components. This heavy and long unit should include a wall mount made from metal and quality screws for wood.

Overall an ok purchase
I purchased and installed this camera for a relative. And, from what I can witness, it's a better camera than I thought. I was comparing this with the Arlo 4 Pro. I'm glad I got this one instead. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure the Arlo 4 Pro is good for a camera near the door. But, if you are looking for something to light up an entire area, for example a driveway, the Arlo 3 Pro Floodlight is the way to go. It is super bright! And with the magnetic plug (not included in package. separate purchase required), it gets even brighter. I can't tell you as far a battery life. But, unfortunately, my relatives aren't tech savvy like me. They need something that they don't have to keep maintaining, recharging, etc. Therefore, save yourself the trouble and get the magnetic cable charger for the camera. Saves yourself the trouble of constantly recharging and you get the bonus of a brighter light from it. You will get what typically comes with Arlo. Controlling areas of activity, instant notifications, security protocols, animal or person recognition, and all the typical software features that come with every camera. The 2k visibility is a nice bonus. Motion sensor is probably 3-5 feet away. Caught a cat running across the middle of the driveway! Now onto the things where the camera falls short. Unfortunately the range of the motion camera doesn't extend that far. The sidewalk leading up to the driveway doesn't detect on the motion sensor. Also, the product advertises that it is "colored night vision". This is not the case. Still black and white for night vision. The only way it becomes "colored" is when the motion sensor is activated and then it turns on the floodlight. At that point it switched from night vision to regular vision and then the video captured turns to color. This is misleading advertising. As I said, the 2k is a nice feature. When up close, you can see better facial features than the previous camera editions. But, by mid driveway or near the end of the driveway (closer to the street), you can't see facial features and good luck reading license plates. Software is occasionally buggy. Sometimes I'll instruct it to activate the floodlight and it won't. Sometimes the camera won't be active at all. Therefore, I'll need to reboot the camera every time this happens. Something else worth mentioning is the Arlo software still has issues as far a lag (it's not completely "Live" - having a 5 to 10 second delay. It also lags logging on). This has never improved since they first came out. If you hope to log in right away when you are on a trip or away from home, expect to be waiting for a while to log in and then a while to connect to the camera. It feels like an eternity sometimes! Talking from your phone and through the camera, expect it to be choppy, laggy, or non-existent. They should really work on this! It's also unclear about the service that the camera provides. It's unclear both on the site and instructions as far as the limited free service that it provides. Someone mentioned about this too in one of the comments. I purchased, for my relatives, an extensive and premium service and, now, I'm unsure if that is part of the service or it's something I have to pay more? Can someone help me with this?

Lots of issues updated
Starts to record when a vehicle is already half way through the Video. Cannot see a license plate clear enough to read at 20 feet. Lots of charging issues. Battery does not last long have to bring in house to charge every 3 days because charging cables do not work. Updated. Camera will not record now for 2 months. Light does not come on but shows as fully charged. Trial period has run out

You only pay, pay, pay
After buying the most expensive camera on the market, you still have to pay a monthly fee for them to save your videos. Yes, they give you 3 months free, For more 300 dls. And then you still have to pay if you want to save them

Dont buy!!
*** update *** After trial period it will not record at all Unlike other arlo cams And now its past the return period So either you have to pay a monthly subscription or its a super expensive flood light that still doesnt work properly. Stay away!!!!!!! I almost never write reviews I have several arlo q and like them a lot So after someone broke into my car in the driveway i bought the arlo floodlight Waste of money It misses event after event. Regularly What’s the point of having a camera off it’s going to miss the event you need it to record? Their customer service is horrible I had agents close an open case for no reason Then you have to start all over again. I have an open case now for 2 weeks. No contact They cant resolve the issue. Tired of being asked to reboot and reset over and over and over Go buy another brand You will regret buying this one

Not bad, not great!!
I’m a tech/gadgets enthusiast and I do have a lot of cameras and home devices, so let’s say I know a bit about the subject, I bought this camera because it’s the only option (floodlight) available that works with HomeKit, and that’s my smart home platform of choice, the camera works great but even though it’s expensive, I had to purchase a home base from Arlo to make it compatible with Apple HomeKit, and on top of that, it doesn’t support Apple secure Video, so Arlo wants you to pay a subscription fee if you want to have records of the footage, and as of many, I’m tired of so many subscriptions, so that’s why I’m not rating it higher.

*** Updated... Hint- It got worse*** Better Products Better Customer Service
*** Update *** I dropped this another star after my free subscription ended. I knew that part of the deal was that I was going to have to pay to keep recordings but the basic package doesn't give you any information about what the recording is, "vehicle, animal, person or other" are all just lumped in as "motion" which renders the app essentially useless. I just looked to see if I could return this and my other three cameras but the window has passed. I guess if I notice that the glass is smashed in the morning in my car I can spend an hour going over uncategorized clips to try to find which one caught the act.... IF it caught that one. Miserable product. I have a google hello doorbell that works flawlessly. The picture quality is superior and there is certainly something to be said for continuous recording when something happens. With Arlo, the range of the camera isn't as advertised. One obvious solution would be to move the hub closer to the cameras but unfortunately, their hubs require an ethernet cable to be plugged into the back which either limit where it can go or makes it so that you need to purchase wifi extenders or run a long cable around your house. The primary advantage of these is that they are wireless cameras but they simply do not perform anywhere near the same level as the Google products and their customer service essentially shrugs their shoulders when you try to engage in a solution to better your signal. Wouldn't recommend it.
