Effective out of the box if mice may only approach the front
The traps are easy to set and very effective if the mouse is forced to approach the trap from the front only. I could imagine if the animal crawls over the back side of the trap that it is possible that the trap could snap without killing it so I pulled back from 5 stars because the design could be better to ensure that the mice can only approach the front. I made this hallway of death to force mice to walk to the front of any trap and got 3 in the first night. Time will tell how durable the plastic parts are and how long it will hold up.

Mousetraps for people with fingers.
The only downside to this trap is that if you consider mousetraps a single-use item, it's single-use plastic with attached metal and kinda difficult to recycle therefore. The rest is positive. Deep bait well under an oversize paddle, making it difficult for mice to clean it out without tripping it. One-hand setting. Red indicator on kill bar (which seems to be an oddly violent term but here we are) lets you know at a glance whether or not the trap is set. If it's pointing straight up, yes it is. Red indicator also serves to make it less likely to hurt you if you screw up. I say less, because it's gonna hurt, but if your child or larger pet gets into it, the likelihood of a doctor/vet bill is lower. If you have rodents as pets, all bets are off, as the spring tension is pretty robust. Will kill most mice. Some are just sneaky and crazy nimble and require multiple strategies. Some wear full body armor. Some will only die after all the immortal mice engage in battle as there can be only one. Plan accordingly, and if your mouse is named Duncan McLeod, sell the house. The biggest upshot is the big paddle and the fact the bail only has half the distance of a regular trap to travel, so it's quick. All in all, an excellent mousetrap for people who hate the wood ones or need a less dangerous option for the non-mice that live in the house.

They work! Better than those white Tomcat ones
I had the white Tomcat brand traps previously and while they caught a few mice all of them (6 in total) stopped working after only 2 or 3 mice. The issues seems to be with the latch mechanism that actually latches too tightly after a few triggers meaning I am giving the local mice a free meal. These ones, however do not suffer from that problem and I have caught more mice with the these two than with all 6 of the others combined and they are still gong strong. Catch rate has gone down but I think I am winning the war since nothe bate is still there and the traps are still primed. If you have had disappointment before give these a try. Tip: I use chocolate chips and melt them with a lighter before sticking them on the trap so the mice can't just run off with them (did that too with the tomcats btw)

Not disappointed
So easy to use. Spring back and sensitivity are just as strong as old timey traps but these are so much easier to use. I'm afraid of the old kind so I won't mess with em. I don't even need help setting these. You won't be disappointed in 5hese. I was very satisfied with this purchase.

These work well
These were great. Old wooden traps miss often or the mouse hauls them away. This trap snaps and they don’t get out. Easy to bait, easy to set, easy to empty.

This IS The Better Mouse Trap
They say build a better mouse trap and the world will beat a path to your door. If this is true, Victor should have at least half the global population knocking on their door, because they really have built a better mousetrap. Every year before the monsoon season hits here in AZ, I have a mouse problem. I have used sticky traps, the old style spring traps, some nights I was even ready to sit by the bait and crack them in the head with a baseball bat. This year I was in need of new traps as the old spring ones were pulling apart. I accidentally ordered these, meaning to be buying another product. Am I glad I made that mistake! Baiting these is a piece of cake. Setting these is a snap - and the best part is you don't GET snapped! There is no adjustment of the trigger wire, just pull it down until the bar catches. The BEST part is no premature snapping! I have one spot I have to set that is really difficult to get to and with this trap I can easily position it with no smashed fingers! It kills the little critters - first time, every time. And when it does, it pops the one part of the bar mechanism up so you can EASILY pick up the trap without getting close to the dead rodent. Disposal is quick, clean and easy. It's made out of easily washed plastic so if one of them does somehow manage to dirty it up, it's easily cleaned. And not having a wood base means there are no staples to work their way loose over time rendering the trap useless. I know it's a little weird to be so enthralled by a mouse trap, but this one is really really really good! Easy to use, easy to set, VERY effective, and looks to be long lasting. One of the three caught 14 mice in three weeks and it's STILL going strong. I can't recommend these strongly enough. If you have unwelcome furry little visitors, you really need these traps! Update: I gave two of the three I originally purchased to a neighbor with a mouse problem. The past two weeks I had little creatures making my home their home again. I set several of the older style traps and one of these. They made off with one of the old traps - I still haven't found that sucker! And tripped several of them. This style caught two on different nights. Soooo I declared war! Got six of these delivered yesterday and set them up last night. This morning I had FIVE out of the six holding very dead mice of varying sizes. And the bait was still in the trap -all I had to do was pull back the bar and put them back in position after disposing of the dead mice. I LOVE these traps! They kill cleanly, quickly, efficiently and are a breeze to set and "unload" the dead bodies.
