watch for burrs in plastic

I had a persistent slow leak causing water to run every 50 minutes or so. water would drain only to bottom of drain hole in flush valve. so, I tried 3 iterations of new Kohler flaps. Leak continued. So I changed the flush valve with this one from Amazon. Still leaked. Called Kohler customer service and after trying a couple of things they suggested, they sent a new flush valve which I installed and it still leaked. I carefully examined the valve I had removed and discovered small burrs on edge of drain hole. they scraped off. then I felt around the drain hole of the newly installed valve and sure enough, it had the same type of burrs. after scraping them off, leak was gone. Wish I had been a little more vigilant earlier in the process. so valve is fine, installed easily, but minor imperfections got in the way of The Fix.

Works if your Rialto K3402 has a TRIANGULAR hole in the tank

Ordered this Kohler 83095 flush valve with flapper for my Rialto 3402-PB toilet. I had read that it only works with Rialto toilets that have a triangular hole in the tank (rather than a round hole). Separately I ordered the Kohler 84499 conversion kit from Amazon, because the fill valve on my toilet was leaking and needed to be replaced. That kit comes with a Kohler 83650 flush valve, which has metal lugs to fasten it in place. When the old flush valve was removed from the toilet, I saw that it fit in a triangular hole in the tank. So used this flush valve on the toilet. This flush valve does not require metal lugs and screws to install. Kohler Flapper GP83064 is included with this flush valve.

Unpredictable hole shape

The Kohler Santa Whatever elongated comes with two different openings, and you will not know which one you have until you take the assembly one off, at which point you have to go the distance, scrape off the accumulated insulation, and replace. This assembly had plastic prongs that were designed to lock into place upon twisting, into a triangular hole, but my toilet had the circular hole. So I put the new insulator ring on the old flush body and used the screws and retaining clips from the old assembly. The insulator ring and flapper are the parts that wear out, so maybe you should just buy those two items or an American Standard. Also, be forewarned, the top edge of this assembly is at the lowest adjustable waterline for the most popular float valve replacement. I thought abut, and may still, use epoxy glue to make it .5 inches higher.

Works but difficult to snap inplace

You need quite a bit of pressure and strength to install this item because it must compress the rubber seal then twist in-place. Although normally this would not be a problem, the location in my tank made it difficult for me to wrap my hands around the valve and get a good grip on it. I suppose that if I had something to press straight down on the seal, it would have been easier. Maybe a block of wood or something might make things easier without marring the plastic. It works and I should get a number of additional years out of the toilet.

Great kit

If you have a rialto toilet, there is a good chance that it is leaking. This kit is a cheap tune up. The tank to bowl gasket gets bad and the flappers are NOT standard. It is deceiving but these kohler flappers are a fraction of an inch bigger/smaller than a 'standard' flapper, so a standard flapper will leak. When install the flush valve make sure that all three tabs are beneath the tank bowl and are seated properly. Stick your fingers beneath the tank bowl through the flush valve to feel that the tabs are seated properly and gently rock the plastic flush valve verify. It took me a few attempts to get this right. Also, my plumber (master) strongly recommends that I buy OEM Kohler parts for Kohler products. I am not fond of kohler products...

Does what it’s supposed to!

A little clumsy to get twisted in right, but some elbow grease got it in and it’s been working perfectly.

I installed the item in less than 5 minutes and it has worked perfectly for months now. glad to have so many reviewers guide me to the correct part, thanks guys and gals. make sure your toilet has the triangle at the bottom of the bowl. it was not difficult to push into place and required none of the tricks others have had to use.

Koehler flush valve

I have a Kohler toilet x 30 years old. The valve assembly is like no others. This replacement valve assembly works perfectly. No water leaking, flushes perfectly, etc. This was my previous review for a similar toilet in all respects.
