This new combination is super quiet! We love it (well
We purchased this along with the Liberty 1/3 hp sump pump. The check valve appears to be well-constructed with heavy gauge pvc and can be used on either a 1-1/2 or 2" pipe. They were used to replace our old sump pump which is in the basement. This new combination is super quiet! We love it (well, at least as much as you can love a sump pump). Our sons share a room downstairs, and my husband strategically built their room around the sump pit a few years ago. It's inside it's own closet which is inside the bedroom closet. The old one was so stinking loud and was worn out to the point I would have to get in the closet daily to shake the line to start the output, more often when it was raining. Ours is set up for excess ground water only, no sewage or bath water. The pump does, however, run often. We think their Mau be a spring under the house. Anyhow, the pump is heavy duty with a cast iron motor. My husband had to put a brick in the bottom of the pit because the Liberty pump us quite a bit shorter than the one it was replacing. If you want a nearly silent option, this along with the Liberty pump are the way to go.

forgot gaskets
very well made, but only came with 1 1/4" sleeve gaskets. Needed 1 1/2" gasket. Make sure all the parts are there. UPDATE shipped new one to me in day and a half. Piece works perfect, easy install in tight crawlspace.

Super quiet - easy to install
Super quiet - easy to install. I bought it with a liberty 257 pump and you cant hear the pump any more in the basement ! The flap and plastic looks nice an solid. Compression fitting are much easier to install than the big box stores compression metal rings on rubber. I dont see the downside of this this design - all positive. Even the connection is sturdier than the conventional rubbers with metal ring. Unless something comes up 2 years from now as far as reliability is concerned - this is the way to go. It is slightly shorter than a conventional rubber check valve - so you may have to extend you piping.

Not as pictured
The valve you will receive is not the style shown, the type shown has the trap at an angle to seal better when used horizontally, the style shipped is the more typical of a standard sump pump check, it will work but requires pressure to close where as the other type is preloaded by gravity.

Simple to install
I order 2 check valves one for my sump pump and the second one for my back up sump pump. I love this product very easy to install and very easy to dissemble if my sump pump need to be replace. I highly recommend this product to anyone with a sump pump system.

Highly recommended. It is an excellent check valve for the price. It is worth every penny!
I would highly recommend this check valve based on its performance history and reliability. You may pay about $10 more, but if you consider its extra cost, it is less than a dollar per year for your investment. When dealing with sump pump performance, corner cutting may cost you tens of thousands of dollars in basement flooding damages. Think smart and invest in quality pumps and check valves. BTW: I am a professional electronics engineer, but also a DIY homeowner for last 35+ years and find myself often saving thousands of dollars every year by taking care of my home sump pumps, well pump, general plumbing, HVAC, and other electrical systems. So, I ordered this check valve for my new sump pump to replace a 16+ years older sump pump system that was beginning to show some signs of degraded performance. (FYI: You should check once a year the water pressure on the sump pump to ensure the motor and the impeller performance are OK before heading towards the rainy season and end up with unexpected flooded basement). Anyway, after checking for a dozen models of check valve, I decided to buy the same check valve that was originally installed 16+ years ago, even tough it was about $10 more than the garden variety check valves available on eBay or Amazon, and it seems to be a wise decision. After the part arrived, I installed the new sump pump and the check valve, and I noticed that the old valve still had a very good tight seal, no sediments build up around the valve, and the rubber seals were still very tight and looked very clean and reusable. No rubber gasket distortion or deformity even after 16+ years of use. Consequently, I kept the old valve after soaking it in vinegar solution for two days to remove any minor red mud build up in the interior walls and have the old pump and the old valve assembly reassembled and sitting in my garage as a backup system to replaced it in 10 minutes if the new system fails. It pays to be be proactive than reactive to avoid emergencies and spend thousands of dollars during emergencies. I hope this is a helpful suggestion to some of you DIY folks.

Expensive but works well
This turned out to be an exact replacement for a check valve in a sump system that pumps water from our laundry room sink up to our main house drain. The old one came with the house and had lasted for I don't know how many years. It's a pretty nasty environment with hot soapy water from laundry, cleanup after painting, etc. It installed in a couple of minutes and works very well. They supply two pairs of O-rings, one for 1-1/4, the other for 1-1/2 inch pipe. The rubber flapper valve has a plastic disk mounted on it to make it stiffer. Other valves I've looked at don't have this. The end cap fittings are also a lot nicer than the hose clamps supplied on other valves. If it lasts anywhere near as long as the original, I will be very pleased. The downside is that it's two to three times more expensive than some other valves. But for my application it was worth it.
