My built-in desk doubles as a work area for my model trains. I had a 27-watt (4-tube bulb) lamp that decided to break last week. I wanted another 27-watt fluorescent but did not see many offered. I was uncertain what LED type wattage I might need and they get pricey. My uncertainty about this one was the clearance height beneath the lamp (as shown) since I wanted it to clear my 17" high desktop PC screen. It turns out that the lamp housing top is about 19" as shown and (importantly) the bottom is about 18" above the desk. You might get another inch clearance if needed by bending it more severely vertically but keeping the bulb horizontal. So it seems it will fit my needs. It's not superbly built (nor particularly pretty, with little white polka dots) for example the vertical part of the base is plastic-y. But it's ok for the price. We'll see how the switch holds up with daily use. I may add a cord switch that would be less concerning. Hopefully it will perform over time.

Bulbs are a problem

The lamp gives very good reading light, but the bulbs do not last long, are a bit pricey, and difficult to unplug and replug. Screwing the lamp to the base is also a challenge.

Plenty of daylight for your handwork

The promised "like daylight" is TRUE. I do a lot of handwork at my art table - this product gives plenty of light without heat.

Great lamp!

Great desk lamp, the natural daylight bulbs are great for working on crafts and reading. I bought this as a gift for my son and daughter in law who are living in Alaska, they said it is a good quality lamp. They are currently not only using it for crafting, crocheting and reading but they are also using it to keep their indoor plants alive since they have very short daylight hours in the winter!

Be careful! Bulbs are expensive.... otherwise good lighting

Was very happy with this purchase, but the bulb burned out after about 500 hours --- totally unacceptable -- replace bulbs are $6.50 and up and who knows what the quality is of those -- supposed to last 10,000 hours..... buying replace bulb but feel like I hear the giant sucking sound. Will update if the replacement fails as well. Amazon needs to be a little more clear about warranties, life expectancy.... just saying.

Great lamp for working in a dark office

I bought this when we were sent home to work due to the Coronavirus outbreak. My office is in the basement so I don't get much natural light. This has helped me tremendously.
