Happy to have this
Where has this been all my life? Ok, the suction is not great and it moves around, so I'm not sure how much gets past it. But it makes cleaning off hair that gets stuck on it really easy. Plus - it's a starfish in the tub!

Excellent suction
This is the best hair catcher I have bought. It has excellent suction power, and the size is perfect to be used on the bathtub.

Arrived in Unsanitary Condition
I don't mean to sound like a snot, but this item is going into people's shower's and bathtubs. It should at least arrive in Sanitary Condition...?! I just received mine. Was tossed in a box along with another item. This Umbra item was simply zip-tied to a piece of marketing cardboard. NO protective cover at all. Just flopping around loose inside the delivery box so naturally, due to the nature of the material, it not only picked up box lint/fuzz but has several "scuff" marks in an orange/brown discoloration. Camera was very kind, looks far worse in person. The center and several points are much darker in person - it doesn't look like it from the pics but it looks awful. Not only is it covered in teeny pieces of lint/fuzz but the center is a much darker orange/brown in person and several "points" have dark orange/brown marks - as I stated it looks far worse in person, sorry the pics don't really show how awful it is. Pretty disappointed in the packaging for an item that should (I would think/hope?) be sanitary upon arrival. I had been excited for this item but am now feeling pretty icky about it. Joy lost. Umbra...You need to do better. *EDIT* It cleaned up nicely with a 3-minute soak in a little white vinegar and baking soda - not 100% , still some orange-ish discoloration around the edge of one point and along the center but better than when it arrived. Rinsed it off and stuck it the tub drain...It IS stuck there, so that's at least something good. Feeling a little better about it, but I guess for $5 you get what you pay for.

Works well and very easy to clean!
This works well. It does not suction very well but it might just be my tub. Cleaning it is very easy.

It drains water and catches hair at the same time!!!!
The media could not be loaded. Omg...a product that actually drains the water while it catches the hair/debris! No more tub water up to the ankles while taking a shower. When done, the water drains while the hair stays on the starfish. This was my defining factor in this purchase. As for the suction, it sticks okay for me. When my husband takes a shower, well, his size 15 feet are always stepping on it, so it does move but doesn't come unstuck. It just slides or gets bunched up. When I take it off to clean, it sticks right back on. Oh....and if your drain hole is close to the side of the tub, this product will still work! Just place the starfish on the center of the drain and you can fasten the "arms" up the sides of the tub and it will still catch the hair and drain the water!!

Will catch hair, but suction isn’t great
It’s great at catching hair and you don’t even need to take the drain cover off to take the hair out. The product was easy to install and the suction seemed to stay in place until I took it off for the first time. Before purchasing I read other reviews that said to take it out every so often because they had problems with mold growth. Just to be cautious, I took it off after about a month to see if there was mold. Luckily there was no mold, but just a bit of grime from shampoo and the permanent drain cover. But after I removed the drain cover for this first time, the suction wasn’t as great when it put it back into place. I think that’s a common problem with such products, so it’s not a big deal to me.

Works great and is a tasteful design
With a life-long battle with clogged drains from my hair loss, I'm finding this working as a charm. It does need to be lifted and cleaned occasionally so it doesn't get slimy, and that is to be expected. It's collecting hair well and saves digging and clogging problems. My drain currently cannot have any insertions for hair collection so I love that this fits over top of the fixture and drain.

Works in the kitchen sink too!
So, I am not a particularly anxious person, but I just HATE to stick my hand down the gaping hole to retrieve things that fall into the disposal. I have this lurking suspicion that just as I get it inside, the disposal will come alive and grind me up. One of my few irrational fears in life. Did I mention I also hate to clean the slimy crud out of the regular type sink stopper that comes with the sink? Gross. No matter how often you clean it. I think those begin producing slime every time I leave the kitchen. So, I have used a drain screen, similar to this one, but made of metal, for years. A simple disc that sits there covering the hole, but is easily cleaned. The problem is that this metal one is painted and in rather short order, it begins to chip. Then it rusts. Then it has to be replaced. I've gone through a half dozen of these so far. I was looking for a better solution and found this. I love it! Exactly the right size, cleans up easily. It works perfectly for catching anything that should not go down the drain, and has the added benefit of providing a little cushion on the sink bottom; no more scratching the sink or the pans as I scrub them. One aside, it does seem to pick up a little staining from foods that stain. Rinsing it, rather than letting food sit, seems to mitigate that. I have the white one and I think I would replace it (when needed) with black, for this reason. I know my silicone spatulas don't stain, so I think this could be an improvement I would suggest to make it more kitchen compatible. But then, they don't market it for kitchen use, so I can hardly complain. I can't imagine a design that would work better for this purpose, and I will be getting additional ones for other drains in the house as well. Nice job on this design!

Works great even without suction
Doesn't suction to my tile but works amazingly anyway. The way the star is shaped causes the hair to collect in a ring. It is so easy to clean up and throw away.

works well so far
I have kids with long hair, drains are a problem. Looking for a solution to avoid pouring so much drano down, so this was what I tried. I was skeptical, but we've used it for about 3 weeks now, and I'm happy to say it's working well so far. I am not sure how it'll hold up to a long period of time, but I have a backup. Happy so far.

Works perfectly!
Very happy with this product and can't believe I spent so long without one! We are a long haired household, so this has been a real time saver at a very reasonable price. This catches all the hair etc from blocking the plug hole. I don't have to unblock the drain half as much as I used to. Easy to clean, but I'd recommend waiting for any caught hair to dry before removing it from the catcher as for some reason this makes it easier. Cleans with cloth and bathroom spray, don't need anything special. Would recommend cleaning every time you clean the bath or shower. Good suction power - we've had ours for a few years now and have to remove and reattach it regularly as have a bath/shower combo and take it out if having a bath, and it is still strong and stays in place, but is also easy to remove - just pull it off.

Works if your bathroom floor is flat..
These are nice, but could be better. They don't work as well if your bathroom floor isn't completely flat. It makes it hard for the suction cups to create a tight seal. I find using one alone doesn't work well because the hair is still able to find its way into the holes where the ends dont have suction cups. I use both together and place them both in a way so that where there is a dip in the star shape, the other star shape suction cup with cover it on top. I find the two overlapping each other provides a better seal of the entire drain hole. This helps catch hair from every possible corner. Even with both drain covers over the drain, the water is still able to flow evenly. There is no backup or pooling of water. I water rinse/air dry these every day to prevent any soap scum buildup. The suction power is still pretty strong even after multiple uses for months and removing and reapplying it every day.
