A great option for active winter wear!
I wore the Gen 3 Lvl. 1 ECWCS bottom and top recently when I went snowboarding from 10 am until after 5 pm. All I wore was the Lvl 1 bottom and top, jeans and a flannel shirt, and Obermeyer Ultimate ski jacket and Process pants. I haven't boarded in over 5 years so, naturally, I had a lot of falls throughout the day and worked up a good sweat getting up and down trying to remember my balance points. Despite working up a sweat I was never, not once, cold throughout the day. We were boarding a mountain and the ambient temp hovered between 30-40 degrees all day. Not cold but definately not a warm day! Especially since every trip up involved a 30 Minute ride on the lift while snow is falling!

Good shirt
This shirt is pretty good. It fits well and is great for colder weather -- it kept me nice and warm. I've also used it in the summer, actually, to keep my skin out of the sun. And I didn't get too hot in it at all. All in all great shirt. My only complaint is that the thumb holes are a tad on the small side, but not too bad.

Neither True nor Spec
These shirts suck, frankly. Being retired military, I have worn (and cherished) my authentic ECWCS base layer shirt (and the trousers too, though worn less often here in Texas). The authentic ones are soft (glide easily under clothing), have a stretchable neck / arms (through reinforced and don't tear), and have lasted me nearly a decade. But all good things must come to an end, at least sartorially. I ordered two of these shirts a as replacements. They are everything the originals are not (in a bad way). Made with some sort of material that is nearly as rough as fine grit sandpaper. Neck is TIGHT in proportion to the shirt, and can NOT be stretched. They also are lousy as a base layer. Definitely NOT recommended.

Dissappointing
the shirt itself fit as expected, it's comfortable and after a year of no issues, seems durable. one fairly annoying thing is the thumb cuffs seem designed either for your pinky finger or for toddlers. I literally had to cut the seem to fit my thumb through and then sew it to keep from fraying/splitting up the sleeve. The thumb cuff actually hurts if you use it for more than 30 seconds. I would not buy this shirt again....

Was first issued for deployment. Comfortable and lightweight. Thin but will still keep you warm

True to size,these are a true silk weight,and are very lightweight.
True to size for me,I wear XL for most things. No issues. I will report if these fail at all.
