VERY COOL TACTICAL HAT

The hat looks tactical. The material seems durable. It is extremely comfortable. I have no complain. The only downside is that the head size of the hat is not adjustable. Overall, it is a well made hat. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

well worth $12. The hat is very well made. It helps if the hat fit loose is to have the chin strap (whatever you call it) on the back of your head and tighten it up by sliding the plastic piece on the chin strap until it tightens on the back of the head. The excess can be tuck under the hat if it gets in the way. That is how I wear it. It gets a good secure fit instead of having to keep the strap under your chin & it stays on better. It is 100% cotton which I like, it is hard to find bonnie hats that are 100% most of the time it is a blend.of poly and cotton This is very similar to the Vietnam Boonie hats that were 100% cotton. This has a inside pocket for keeping maps or for me my fishing license . The Vietnam bonnie's did not have this. Made me laugh to have the inside tag say" Made in Honduras from USA material" I guess the cotton came from the US and the hat was made in Honduras .,,, ;-) It is well made and I would buy again. I got olive drab , the picture from Amazon looks more like a Tan color but what I got is a military olive green This may help others to pick out their correct size. Mine turned out to be X large SMALL Size 6 3/4 - 6 7/8 21 1/8 " - 21 1/2 " MEDIUM Size 7 - 7 1/8 21 7/8 " - 22 1/4 " LARGE Size 7 1/4 - 7 3/8 22 5/8 " - 23 " X-LARGE Size 7 1/2 - 7 5/8 23 1/2 " - 23 7/8 Place measuring tape around your head about 1/8" above your ear, across the mid-forehead, completely circling your head. Hold the tape firmly, but not too tightly. Basically you need to measure your head exactly where the hat will sit. If your measurement falls between sizes, choose the next largest size.

Has one particular advantage

I purchased this boonie along with an R&B boonie and an authentic Marine Corps-issued boonie (from another site). I was surprised to find the R&B hat is by far the best constructed and uses the best materials. You can see the difference, and you can feel it. Where the Tru Spec boonie has an advantage for me, though, is with the map pocket. A lot of boonie makers do this strange thing: they use a single layer of fabric for the crown of the hat, which means light can penetrate the hat at the exact point where light exposure is greatest. For a bald guy with Irish skin, having the sun shine through the crown of your hat defeats the purpose. It makes a hat worthless unless I modify it, which introduces other issues. The Tru Spec boonie has less of an issue there, because they have a "map pocket" that gives an extra layer of fabric and therefore full protection to 70% of the scalp. At 70% it's not perfect, but it's better than R&B and most other boonies in this regard. If you've got a full head of hair, I would seriously consider buying R&B. It really is a sturdier, higher-quality hat. However, if you're bald like me, you might want to go with Tru Spec. For the record, I gave R&B a four-star review as well. They're both good hats with their own strengths and weaknesses. I wish someone would figure it out and combine them, but you can't always get what you want.

Not bad, but not the best.

My wife and kids decided that I didn't need to wear my actual OCP (Multicam) or UCP (digital camo) Army issued boonie hats to their soccer games in the summer. I also wanted a civilian boonie to wear outside the US. So I ordered the Propper Tactical Boonie Hat and the Tru-Spec boonie. The Propper is 65/35 nylon/cotton, the Tru-Spec (TS) is 100% cotton (although the TS does come in other blends). Both are sewn fairly well outside of the US with US fabric. I ordered both in khaki. Here's where the Propper is better: it is a true British tan khaki. The TS has the loop band for attaching foliage that is khaki, but the rest of the hat is more of a Flat Dark Earth (FDE) than khaki. Maybe this is to allow for the cotton fabric to fade? For some reason, the "Tactical" Propper boonie does not have the band to attach foliage. I knew that, and wanted it that way since it is more "civie" in appearance, but it makes no sense to call the less tactical hat the "Tactical" model. The Propper has the correct leather piece to adjust the neck string, the TS has a piece of plastic that is too big. The TS fits like my issued boonie hats, the Propper 7 1/4 is huge compared to my issued headgear. Neither of these hats is as well made as an actual US Army issued R&B boonie hat. The R&B (that's the company's actual name, not rhythm and blues) has a brim that is noticeably thicker than the commercial models and is made completely in the US. The R&B also costs more if you can find them on the internet. I rank them thusly: 1. R&B (best fit and construction) 2. Propper (sizing is a little off but the color is correct/uniform and they use the specified leather keeper on the neck string 3. Tru-Spec (fit is good but the color is off).

Great Quality

I ordered up a size to allow for shrinkage when it gets wet. Still fit fine even slightly larger than I normally wear. Rather have it a bit large than two small especially if it shrinks after getting wet. Color was great and quality was excellent. Purchased for hunting and camping to keep the sun off my head, and keep it dry during the rain.

Práctico y resistente boonie

Esta hecho de algodón, NO es como la foto que parecería poliéster y hasta se ve como una apariencia de brillo, ES color verde MATE como uniforme antiguo del ejército (1960), tiene buenos acabados, la marca es de calidad, y en si esta bien terminado, pero la tela no es algo fuera de lo común. Soy talla 7.25, uso el cabello corto y me quedó un poco flojo pero como tiene un forro resistente, igual y le acondiciono una agujeta para ajustarlo más a la cabeza. Le di 3 estrellas porque en la foto publicada se ve de un material brilloso

Ligero y fresco que cubre bien los rayos del sol

Siempre he comprado sombreros militares porque son muy útiles y prácticos y está marca en especial ofrece buena calidad, Durán mucho y no se deforman, solo que note que esta vez la cinta que forma los bukles donde se pone la hierva para el camuflaje venía colocada un poco más arriba de lo normal no se si ya los modificaron o si es un defecto de fabrica, pero es pasable al final deja más espacio para poder poner alguna botellita como aceite para lubricar el fusil o unas gotas para los ojos.

Great Cover- Good Price

Tru-Spec builds a nice product for the price point. "Boonie" hats are my favourite, and this one did not disappoint. Holds shape and colour, if one takes care of it. Very pleased with purchase. Hope this helps
