Triumphant
I bought a Drill America wire gauge (1-60) drill bits set whose quality was so atrocious that I was forced to return. them. The metal box they came in wouldn't even open completely. These are not heavy duty bits(118 degree angle) but they are of reasonable, made in the U.S.A. quality, and help 4to get me exact sizing when driving difficult, stubborn screws.

The Best Made in USA Drill Bits
This drill bit set (made in USA) is excellent. The bits are finished as bright high speed steel, and have a single-facet 118 degree point. Triumph also makes a similar set in black oxide with a double-facet 135 degree point. (Actually, they make a wide variety of drill bits.) The HSS is hard, and capable, with correct speed, to cut most common steels with no problem. Having said that, I will probably grind these to a 118 degree double facet point, which tends to wander less, and cut with less friction. Recognize that the advantage of high speed steel (HSS) is that it can tolerate higher temperatures than carbon steel. Thus, if your bits might get hot, while grinding, or while using, HSS is, by far, the best steel for a drill bit. Carbon steels can be made quite hard, but do not tolerate heat well. The Triumph Twist Drill web site (http://triumphtwistdrill.com/) is a little unfriendly on searching, but has excellent information on their wide variety of bits and manufacturing techniques. While Amazon carries a small number of Triumph bit sets, Carbide Processors carries virtually all Triumph drill bits. You can buy cheap imported bits which won't last, or you can buy Triumph made-in-USA bits of top notch tool steel.

Not as pictured, accurately sized, missing one bit
The index is not at all like what is pictured (see my supplied images), and my set was missing the #79 (.0145) bit. When measured with my micrometer all bits were accurately sized. Are they actually from Triumph Twist Drill Co.? There is nothing on the packaging to indicate manufacturer, although the envelope the index came in indicates made in USA/FR and does say item: 090523. However, if you look at Triumph's web catalog, most of their indexes and sets appear to have either their logo or an American flag sticker. This doesn't mean the set I received doesn't contain Triumph bits, but it does make one wonder. I didn't actually use any of the bits since I am sending them back for a replacement set that contains all the bits, so I can't comment on the quality.

Worth every cent, these will last, you won't need to replace them.
Quality, USA made, I feel worth every cent compared to that imported stuff. I will make it clear though, these are your basic old school type bits. Regular tip, (so you may need to use a center punch), easy to sharpen, NO REDUCED SHANK, so you need to use a 1/2 inch drill. Very important - these bits WILL NOT screw themselves into what you are drilling - like many of the newer type. So many of the newer type are uncontrollable when using a cordless drill(like we all do) they screw into the material fast, twisting your wrist - and worse ! I'm very pleased with these bits.

Best bits I have ever bought
If you yearn for the "good old days", these bits are for you. Ultra high quality, made with pride in the good old USA. All tools should be made with such attention to detail. Sharp, durable, polished in a brushed steel case. Take care of them and your son (or daughter) will give them to their son (or daughter) :)

Sometimes you just need metric drill bits!
Needed to be slightly oversized for a 1/2" recommended hole for a brass threaded insert, where the hardwood leg (oak) was to resistant to driving into a 1/2" hole without breaking the insert. The increase from 12.7mm (1/2") to 3mm did the trick. Fits 1/2" chuck, but barely as it is not relieved to 1/2" but I figured most power tools are imported/exported, and the 13mm chuck size is too easy to accommodate for other markets.
