First helmet since childhood.
Older guy, starting to skateboard, so, this is my first helmet since childhood bmx. I'm really impressed by how comfortable and lighter weight this is. I bought this specifically for the crank in the back, much like a construction hard hat. You can dial most the fit with this and the straps are just extra. Straps could be a better grade of material for comfort. When they rub, it's like shaving with a dull blade. The overall design looks goofy, much like you're a living bobblehead, but if it does its job well, whatever.

Size up!
I got the regular size after following the guidelines and measuring my head. I was toward the top of the regular range, but not on the border by any means. When I got thr helmet it was way too tight, even completely loosened up. Needed to exchange for a bigger model. Aside from that super comfy and I have no doubt it would save my life if it came down to it. I hope that helps!

2,000 mile review
Background for review: From mid September to early December my now fiancé and I rode from Greece to Portugal, taking a train partly through Italy and Spain. I'm pretty cheap and bought two 1980s schwinn which is what we did our trip on. I was looking for that middle of the road quality and price with a helmet. We rode our bicycles just over 2,000 miles. We rode through all weather conditions except snow, with temps between 40-90 degrees on our trip. I had a Bern helmet for years (model: Berkeley) but left it in our van because look there's a dog. What a good boy. You get it. I bought this one because it was $10 cheaper and had less airflow vents which I felt would be good for our trip going in the cooler months. It fit well. I dropped it multiple times and once dropped it while walking alongside a cliff when it was resting on my seat and forget I didn't fasten it to the frame. The third picture you can see where it landed on the beach. I paired this with a Patagonia running hat that I wore in town which was a nice combo for eye shade, although the bill was flimsy and when wet didn't hold as well as the thicker brim of Bern's included bill. One thing to consider if you plan on going that route. Likes: A good helmet overall. Medium quality airflow for warm weather (you can't have it all). The adjustment feature to snug it on your head is nice for added safety/fit. Dislikes: maybe a little pricey at $50 which is what I paid. I think Bern's build quality is superior imo for $10 more Summary: good helmet for the price. I'd recommend buying the Bern helmet as well and seeing which is a better fit and feel, and then return one. For me it's pretty close between the two and when I get back to my van maybe I'll add a little more detail comparing them, probably not though. Hope this helps!

A perfect fit for this child sized noggin
Yet to test it on the road because it's so rainy and cold this time of year but happy to have found a hat that will protect my kid sized head! The XS/S was a perfect fit for my head (which is about 50cm). It does look a lil bulky BUT IT AINT NO FASHION SHOW PROTECTING YA BRAIN!!! I'm just pleased it fits well and the colour is cute!

Works great for me, but poor design elements may make it a poor choice for some
This helmet is difficult to review. For the price, I cannot complain...I like it better than 2 other 100 dollar helmets that I had. What I like about the Gotham helmet is that it looks like it would offer real protection in a crash, and I like the way it looks, too. It is a great cold weather helmet, as all the foam, combined with little ventilation keeps the head warm. Frankly, I won't be wearing this helmet when the temp climbs above 70 degrees or so. Really, there is not much ventilation. Great in Oregon's cold rainy winter, but not so much in summer. Also, the twist tensioner adjustment in the back is cheap and poorly designed. It is bulky and will rub on the collar of a jacket. Every time I turned my head to the right, it would actually turn the knob and loosen up. I pulled the whole system out (pops out with little plastic grommets and can be replaced) then I used the thicker foam pads that came with the helmet...now the helmet fits my large head perfectly. But this will not work for everyone. I would give the helmet 4 stars as it is now, for myself. But I can only give it 3 stars overall, taking into the consideration the poor execution of the rear tension knob. pros looks great, the cream color is classy, understated, and still very visible at night good thick foam protection comfortable (if you can make it fit your head) I like the little details like the brown leather on the chin strap, and the red buckle. good price cons too hot in summer almost useless rear tension knob (better to take the whole thing out and just use the thick pads and tighten chin strap) UPDATE: (1-24-18) upped my rating to 4 stars despite its flaws. This is the only helmet I have ever had that I don't hate wearing... and any helmet that i hate wearing is a danger, because it distracts and annoys while I am riding, and eventually I will stop wearing it altogether. But this Triple Eight Gotham I don't mind putting on religiously before each and every ride. Again, I see this as a cool weather helmet, but it is keeping my head warm and dry in the cold Oregon rain. Might have to find something else for summer.

Tight fit for me
I had measured my head as 57cm per the guide and selected the medium size based on this, which was at its upper limit. Technically the helmet still fits me with the adjustment dial set to its largest setting, but the fit is more tight than i would prefer, though not headache-inducing. I suppose this is not a fault of the helmet, beware if your head measurement is on the extremes of the guide ranges. Not sure if i would recommend going a size up as i haven't tried it.

Best helmet - Safe & Well Fitted
I bought this helmet for both my young boys so that they had a proper scooter helmet. This product stood out from the others (a lot of helmets I see children wearing just don't fit or sit correctly) which I'd research last year when buying skateboards but at that point I couldn't find them in the UK. As another reviewer pointed out the adjustment at the back of this helmet provides a nice and customed fitting for each user. It also includes additional padding, which I haven't had to use for my boys (ages 5 and 7) given the adjustment mechanism. Great helmet - and most important, its a safe well fitted helmet which has already been used (and tested) for scooting, skateboarding and cycling.

Fits as expected. Looks great actually. I thought the stormtrooper look was waiting for me but it’s actually cute. I wear it with a low ponytail or hair down and the adjustment wheel in the back clicked once in all these months which did nothing to affect my protection. My jackets with high or low collars never touched it so I feel comfortable wearing it on my e-bike. As for the summer months ahead I can’t see it being breathable but that is not the helmets fault. I would rather sweat than be in a hospital or die without it. This helmet does fit the Canadian regulation for e-bikes also as an officer stated to me. He was grateful I had anything on my head to be honest. Highly recommend.
