Perfect to turn on a garage fan

Bought to "automate" a garage attic fan following a damp winter. The 'settings' tabs are opposite of all the other's I'v owned before & the hour markings are a bit odd.... All in all, it was a great value and they perform the function as they should. The Override switch is a nice addition.

You need to have a working ground in your outlet in order for these to work.

They will not even rotate if your outlet has a bad/missing ground. I believe this is why so many people send these back. There is also a 2 prong version which does NOT rely on the ground.

Easy to set up

Very easy to set time and set when to come on/off. Instructions were not all that clear, but intuitive. I wish it had another socket (this one only has one).

Does what it's supposed to do- I've included more specific instructions...

It took me a few minutes to figure it out, but it works great. I'm using it to time my aquarium light. It only takes up one space on the wall outlet and it's grounded, which is great. It's also much cheaper than the timers that are marketed for use with aquariums. I've read some reviews where this timer makes noise. I've only had mine for about 2 weeks, but it's totally silent. I'll update if that changes. Since the instructions are kinda vague, I'm including how I set mine up. Note: it comes with all the tabs already pressed down. To set up the timer, you first have to pop all the tabs up, then plug the timer in (I also plugged in my light at this point, but I'm not sure if that's necessary). Press down the tabs that represent the times you want your device to be turned on. The sun icon represents noon and the moon represents midnight. The daytime section goes from 7am to 6pm, the nighttime section goes from 7pm to 6am. You won't be able to press down a tab if the current-time arrow is pointing to it. If that's the case, just turn the time dial away from that tab, then you can press it down. Once you have your tabs set the way you want them, set the current time by turning the dial. Make sure the switch at the top of the timer is turned to the timer on position and that whatever device you're plugging into it is also turned on. If you want to turn the device on when it's scheduled to be off, turn the switch the other way. Just make sure to flip it back so the timer can run again.

Upside down plug?

No idea what the designers were thinking but the plug is upside down. It's not that big of a deal but if you have right angled three prong plugs, the cord will be directed straight up. Extremely undesirable and stupid looking. The higher end GE model actually got the orientation correct but that one ended up being super noisy while this one was noiseless. Go figure.

Great Timer

Single plug per timer. It does not get hot with a standard lamp. Safety is a concern and I am happy with this timer.

This is a great timer. Easy to set up and works perfectly. Not recommended to use in a bedroom as it has its own little sound it makes as it goes along. If you want quiet, go for a digital one for a bedroom. But for a garage, living room, or whatever, its perfect.

So SIMPLE to Use

I have to say this is one of the easiest timers to use. It would of worked better with 2 outlets to use, but just used a multi adapter. Just went on a trip and could only hope the power doesn't go out messing up the current time. Definitely would buy again,
