Large too big for 14HH horse
I bought a large for my 14HH Arabian. It was too big BUT it still did the job and didn't fall off. It does not stand up against any rubbing. My horse rubbed on a tree to scratch an itch and tore it up pretty badly. It lasted 14 or 15 days worth of wearing before the zipper broke, which I half expected from the reviews, I just hoped I'd have a better experience. Helps keep a horse clean for a show, not much else. Don't expect it to hold up for long term use.

Decent for the Price - Runs Small
I needed a fast shipping, not too expensive hood for a sick horse, and this fit the bill. It runs very small - an XL just fits around my 15.2 TB gelding's belly and nose. It does stretch, but there's not much flex at the nose opening and the belly band has a fairly small maximum length. The material otherwise is stretchy and, so far, has kept it's shape. It stays put on the horse - he wore it for 48hrs without it moving significantly out of place. It came through the wash fine, but did bleed so be aware of that. The thread used for the stitching and/or the way the seams are done make them a bit rough - my horse is okay so far, but I'd prefer they be softer. There were a few long threads which were easy enough to trim. Compared to similar hoods, I find this slightly easier to put on due to the arrangement of the zipper (sewn in, zips up towards face). Overall this was worth the $35 I paid, but I wouldn't want to pay more than that.

Problematic features make this hit or miss
I bought this neck hood in a size Large for my 14.3, thickly built half-Gypsy mare. I appreciated that it had a snap in the girth to keep it secure, but then discovered that that security was rendered useless by the weak velcro meant to keep the noseband in place. I put this on my mare one afternoon, she went out in a small paddock where she basically just stood around a bit, and the next morning I came to the barn to find the hood hung over my horse's blanket rail - the velcro at the nose had apparently quickly come undone, leaving it to flap in the breeze and begin to pull apart at the zipper seam, after which the zipper unzipped and my horse was free of it entirely... Effectively, the entire hood just gave up and decided to go home. Additionally, while the Large generally fit my mare, it was way too tight in throatlatch, which seems to be a common problem among several of the lower-end slinky brands.

So far so good, using for a wound cover
I read the reviews before buying and most said it runs small so I got an XL. My horse is 15.2 about 1200lbs, maybe slightly above average chest size and it fit. The only spot that was iffy was the girth area, I don’t think he would have fit in a L as he is maxed out in the girth with the XL and it’s still snug (I would like it a little bigger). The color is more of a lilac. I got the hood as my horse got a pretty good cut/wound on his neck and needed something to keep it covered and bugs away (live in central Texas so needed something that wont make him sweat too much either). So far working well for it. Some dirt is able to get thru but keeps most of it out. I do like that it has a zipper under the chin and goes halfway down the neck; makes it easy to pull back to clean his wound without taking the hood off all the way. I’ve only had it a few days but so far like it. Could use it in the winter time too for under his blankets.

Poor Zipper
I bought one and the zipper popped within a day. Bought a second one, sized up and it is doing okay but the material doesnt hold up well. Previous hood I had for my stallion of a different brand that I cannot remember lasted well over a year before he outgrew it with zero holes or zipper issues. These last a couple weeks at best. Would say it is fine for pre-show wear but nothing long term (I keep one on my horse to help protect his mane, he likes to rub)

Fantastic product, bought to keep a dressing on a wound and it has washed nicely Great value compared to my local tack store which has these for more than twice what I spent here. I bought a large for a very stout 16.3 gelding and it fit quite a bit smaller than I would have liked so I should have ordered him an x large but its my fault as I did not measure him.

Good sleazy
This is a very nice sleazy. It happened to run a little small but that was okay for me as I ordered one size too large. I do have to say that it didn't hold up as well as I would have liked but my horse was only able to do minimal damage to it.

Fits well
Medium fits our 13.2 chunky pony well. A bit snug on his wide neck, but head and chest are perfect
