WORKS GREAT!

I wanted to get a bit comparable to a Myler bit that we have that is over $100 used. This bit works just as great and a fraction of the cost!

It's a great bit for a gaited horse that needs something outside-the-box, but keep in mind it's on the smaller side.

I recently bought a 13.1 hand 15-year-old Rocky Mountain pony who racks. She came in a standard pony curb that the owners said she's always been ridden in. However, I noticed that she doesn't know how to neck rein, and that she was ridden with a tie-down because she tended to be flippy with her head, and she liked to put her tongue over the bit - so I headed to my bit bucket to find something better. She already gaits without issue, but does have a lot of go and needs the brakes that come with a short-shank curb, so switching to a snaffle would not have been beneficial. Now this bit had been sitting around for about a year with humidity and it was quite squeaky in the joints and also very rusty on the shanks, but the mouthpiece was not rusty at all. I sprayed cooking spray on all of the joints and used a scouring pad on the shanks and that got most of the rust off, not all. It looks great anyway because of the antique brown finish on the shanks, especially on our pony because she is chocolate. Believe it or not this bit fits our pony well. I don't have to use a tie-down with her anymore, her head is just relaxed down most of the time, and she has become much easier for my kids to turn. She used to make 90-degree turns but now they are nice arcs. It's a great bit for a gaited horse that needs something outside-the-box, but keep in mind it's on the smaller side. Gaited horses tend to have wide mouths and thick cheeks and thick tongues and low palates and sensitive lips and are generally tricky to bit correctly. Love the mouthpiece!

I was looking for a cheap short shank bit with a myler style mouthpiece without the price tag and this is perfect. The shanks are very short and the bit has a nice weight to it. Well made for how cheap this bit is. Completely recommend.
