Nicely designed non-stick cake pan w/wide EZ to grip embossed handles + non-stick...

This is a well-made cake pan. It has a non-stick finish, so it needs a little more TLC than most of my cake pans. I'm familiar with Chicago Metallic and have a lot of bakeware that I have purchased from the brand over the years and almost everything is still in use. I've been very happy with the quality of the materials and workmanship. I mostly own aluminized steel and carbon steel pans from their original commercial line, as I prefer pans that do not have the non-stick coating. I just haven't had very good luck with non-stick baking pans, even when I buy rather pricey name brands. But affordable pans that do not have a non-stick coating are not so easy to find anymore. Plus, I have a lot of holiday baking coming up so I thought I would give this one a try. I do like that it is made of carbon steel and the interior finish is silicone based so I'm hoping it will hold up better than my old non-stick pans. This cake pan is well-designed with wide, easy to grip embossed handles. None of my other cake pans have such generously sized handles (or any handles at all, in some cases), and it really does make it very easy to effortlessly remove the pan from the oven or carry it to and from the table. The handles make the pan look nice, tooI. I like to bake, and I have a variety of cake pans in various shapes and sizes. But a 9" round pan is a true work-horse in my kitchen; it is the most versatile of all of my cake pans, and the one I reach for most often when I am making a cake, biscuits or rolls. This cake pan is fairly thick, and I would characterize it as a mid-weight pan. Apparently it is part of a new Everyday line and isn't quite as heavy-duty as the brand's professional or commercial lines. It is light enough for even heating and baking but heavy enough to feel durable and ensure that my cake will not be over-baked (or burned! I've done that a few times). The cake pan is easy to clean and after baking a coffee cake and a batch of cinnamon rolls, the finish still looks new. The brand's logo is embossed into the bottom of the pan, which I wasn't able to see in the pictures accompanying the product description. I also found the sticker on the bottom of the pan to be a real pain in the neck to remove. This pan is not dishwasher safe, but I always hand-wash all of my baking pans anyway, not just the non-stick ones. I do like this cake pan and I will buy a second for baking layer cakes. It is a nice addition to my collection, but I have to admit that I still prefer a heavier cake pan without a non-stick finish. The current price of $9.99 seems reasonable.

Good weight and sturdy feel

Very nice! Thick gage steel, heavy and sturdy feeling. Handles are large enough to easily grip with pot holders. Non-stick finish is good and without flaws. Practice cake turned out without any sticking with light coating of baking spray. Cleaned easily and drain holes in the underside of the rolled steel edges to deter rust. I appreciate the additional depth compared to my old cake pans and will make using them for other dishes possible. The negatives- despite being "Chicago Metallic", it is made in China and it's "Hand wash only".

Heavy duty, well-made, convenient & nice sized handles; great value

The Chicago non-stick round cake pan (it's not just for cakes) is well-made and heavy duty. It has large sized handles which are convenient to help take it in and out of the oven. This is not my first piece of Chicago kitchenware, and this piece is just as well-made as my first piece, and I expect it to last a long time. Food cooks evenly in the pan and it easy to clean, although it should be washed by hand. Definitely recommend!

Nice heavyweight pan

This feels like a very nice pan. It’s heavy, not one of those thin, flimsy ones you usually see at this price point. Finish looks smooth and even. I’ll update later if I have any issues after repeated use but it looks and feels great. Only complaint is the sticker on the back with the barcode. It took way too much effort to get the residual glue off. I know it was on the back but it was so sticky it stuck to the counter when I was trying to figure out how to get the residue off. Letting it soak with cooking oil finally did the trick. There were two spots of glue holding the cardboard label inside the pan. They were a little hard to get off, but not too bad.

Heavy Duty Cake Pan

This is a very nice, heavy-duty cake pan. It's nice and large, 9 inches by 2 inches high. It is thick and the metal is strong, so it seems like it will be durable. The handle edges have a basket weave texture so you can more easily grip them. The non-stick surface is smooth. It's a very nice pan for cakes and also, I'm planning on using it for small deep dish pizzas.

Good for brownies and cakes

I made brownies with this pan the first time I used it. Came out fantastic. Easy to clean. It's pretty heavy though. Never had a pan with weight to it like this, but it's useful and cleans very easy

Non stick.

This is a nice cake pan. The cake didn't stick and it cleaned up nicely afterwards. It's nice to have the handles on the side to make flipping the cake out easier. The pan is an excellent quality.
