Classic Tool
The only way IMHO to pinpoint shorts in trucks and busses where you have a lot of area to cover. I've used these types of detectors for many years and couldn't even begin to calculate how much time they have saved. The thing I like is the audio signal. You can hook the tool up to the fuse panel (I normally make ends that fit into the panel fuse slots for the plastic blade type fuses by breaking a plastic fuse apart and using the metal ends to plug into each side of the circuit in the fuse panel I'm testing, this allows you to hook the alligator clips up. When there is a short the buzzer will cut on and off as the circuit breaker in the tool opens and closes. This allows you to hunt for the area where the short is located by moving wires and harnesses or unhooking switches and components throughout the vehicle. When the buzzing stops you know you have located the area where the short is. Then it's just a process of elimination.

Nice for finding Shorts
It does what you would expect it to do. It makes the job a lot easier having this tool. If you have to find a short I would recommend having this tool

Did the job.
Did the job tracking down a short in a 1937 classic car. Short was a wire pinched under the license plate trim to the license plate light. Would have taken a long time to find and a lot of fuses with out this tool.

Good product for finding shorts
This product works well at finding shorts. However you must have significant knowledge of electrical systems in order to use it. It is not for a novice.

Not totally happy with it at the moment
I have given this rating because I can't seem to get a clear reading of were the short is or what direction. The needle moves some places and not others , from different places in the car. THe buzzer is constantly sounding to say there is a short. The car I am truing to find short in is a Au Falcon, the parker lights has a short in it some were. About 15 yrs ago I watched an auto electrician find a short in the truck I was driving and it work just fine but that did not have a computer system in it. That is were I got the idea to buy the same thing and try to find the short in the car.
