Strongly built
Works much, much better than a similar plastic damper, which I was replacing. The rubber seals and split flaps make a secure closure; recommend good quality hose clamps be used.

Great quality but very strong spring
This thing is built well! I did return it though. I am using an inline fan and it is not strong enough to open this. The spring is surprisingly strong. It does not have a gasket to seal the doors shut but with how hard that spring keeps it closed I don't think it matters. I can open it by blowing on it really hard, I just thing that a furnace or something like that that draws more air its fine but for me it does not work.

Perfect for 4" thin wall PVC drain pipe (dust collection).
I haven't implemented these suckers yet, but I can tell any prospective buyer that they are solidly built, have a good double flanged rubber gasket on each side, and a 4 inch sewer drain pipe (the thin 4 inch stuff from HD or L's) fits on this snugly. The spring appears to be easily activated, and the back plate seems very solid. I think any decent amount of vacuum this will work fine for. If you have a weak blower such as a PC fan or equivalent, you should rethink your application. But for me, these are perfect. Great value for the money. This will be great for my dust collector system.

A nice damper that didn't work for me
I tried to use this damper to prevent hot back flow air from my attic. I installed it on a flexible 4" duct from my 110 cfm bath exhaust fan. There was not enough air flow to open the flaps thoroughly and the air resistance noise made the 1 scone fan very noisy. I had to duct tape the flaps open thereby defeating it's purpose. This damper would be excellent in the correct installation. Just be sure of where you're putting it. Well made to be sure.

Mixed review. This thing is heavy duty, which I love. Unfortunately I used it for a residential application. The spring is too strong and will not open when the furnace blower is on. The spring holds the butterfly shut. I can open it by hand and it will stay open about a 10th of the way. Also there is no seal inside when butterfly shuts which description states there is. I did not find this out until after I installed it and now its in a sheetrock ceiling fml

Springs can be removed for vertical installation.
Fine quality, but Springs were a little strong. If you are installing as a vertically blowing ceiling vent, you can remove one or both springs. Firmly grasp straight end of spring with needle nose and pull straight up while holding axle in place so it does not bend. Do so at own risk. Probably best to leave one spring in place to reduce rattling that might occur due to external wind.

Spring is Very strong... cannot use in ...
Spring is Very strong...cannot use in AC system for Supply line...possibly for strong bathroom fan...but its gotta be a strong airflow...over 35 cfms.
