Nice alternative for the Apple Watch payment feature but be advised it has limitations
You can find this out if you do your own research. Essentially this is a programmable RFID chip built into the watch strap. No batteries needed. The watch itself could be dead as a doornail and yet the strap will happily aid your purchase for the replacement battery. You can buy this RFID "Timexpay" straps separately as well. The function only works with certain banks at present (I happen to be a customer of the bank it currently works with), Chase, at the time of this writing. So you can use this to pay for things, much as with a Wear OS or Watch OS device, but only through one card vendor at a time, and changing the watch required reprogramming. In addition, this would be linked through Timex so they would have some insight into your purchases. The upside of that is that you can use the Timex app (IOS and Android compatible, though I had only tried the IOS version) to track your purchases as well, or even disable/suspend the payment function. Having said the watch has a nice chronographic function, even if the face seems a bit busy. Seconds hand in chrono function generally lined up with the markings on the dial, and the "indiglo" feature works marvelously. Love the color choices too. Timex does a good job at that.

Feels like a Gimmick
First and foremost, note that what you are paying for here is the Contactless Payment strap. It has what I assume is an RFID chip in it. Combine that chip with the USB device included with the watch (something you'll use once, and then need to store until the next time you need to re-register the chip), and with your Chase Visa (e.g. the Amazon Prime Visa), and you can use the strap for contactless payment. Hooray? Obviously, I have security concerns about walking around with an unshielded RFID chip linked to my credit card account on my wrist. Beyond that, though, this seems like an incredibly cumbersome approach to gaining a functionality that is already available: from my phone, from my contactless credit cards, and from any smartwatch. Also, the band is leather, which seems particularly unnecessary for a tech-oriented watchband. The watch itself felt cheaper than other Expeditions I've worn and reviewed. The chronograph buttons weren't always responsive, and the face was too busy to read easily and quickly. Overall, this is a miss for Timex, which was a surprise for me since I generally love their Expedition line.

A terrific watch with the added bonus of contactless payment.
Timex's Expedition watch is very nicely made. The case is not stainless steel but it is nicely done with a brushed matte finish in dark grey. The back of the case is stainless steel. The band is particularly nice. It's genuine leather and made by the Red Wing Company in Minnesota. It smells wonderful and is pliable and soft. The entire watch has a hefty and substantial feel to it. The face of the watch is quite busy, but the design is well done and has a lot of depth and nice detailing. The watch's hands have white tips with a hollow design. There are three sub-dials. The dial at 6 o'clock is for seconds. The dials at 10 and 2 are for the countdown timer. The large second hand is for the countdown timer as well. There is also a date window at 4 o'clock. As I said there is a lot going on, but the watch is still easy to read... especially at night when you activate Indiglo by pressing in the crown. Setting up Timex Pay is pretty easy, but not without hiccups. First you'll need to download the app and create an account. That's easy, and everything went smoothly on my iPhone 12 mini running iOS 14. The transponder connects to your phone via Bluetooth and needs to be plugged into a USB-A power source. Initially I plugged it into a wall based USB-A port, but it didn't work. Next I tried an iPhone adaptor. It didn't work. Lastly, I plugged it directly into my iMac's USB port. That finally did it. I was able to input the information on my Chase debit card in a few minutes. The tap to pay worked perfectly when I used it at the grocery store later that day. If you lose your watch you can deactivate the card remotely. The watch fits my petite wrist well as a 5'6" and 135 pound male. I wear it on the second to last hole where it fits snuggly, but not tight. It's not an overly large watch and while it feels heavy, it's easy to wear all day. The watch keeps great time, but setting it is a little odd. To set the date you pull the crown to the first stop where you'll move just the hour hand to change the date. All in all... a great watch with an extra touch.

Great watch! Hint: Timex pay is in the bracelet.
This Timex is really cool. It looks great, suitable for everyday, casual wear. The “smart” component of the watch is located in the bracelet and allows you to make payments just scanning your bracelet. Timex pay doesn’t work with all the banks just yet but they’re adding more and more options. The price is reasonable and definitely not inflated. I would get this watch any day.

Super Awesome Watch
This Timex Contactless Payment Men's Casual Watch is a really nice and very comfortable watch. It is a chrono watch and it looks really sharp on my arm. This watch has Timex Pay built into the watch band and you can use it for contactless payment. I did get the Timex Pay all setup and it was pretty easy to get all setup and I was able to use it once at a market. It works very well and it is super simple to use. I would highly recommend this Timex Watch with Contactless payment.

Understand What it is.
You have to understand what this watch is going into it. This is not a smart watch. This is a very nice standard battery operated watch. As a watch, it is worth the price. It looks great and feels like a nice watch which justifies the price point. The strap has an RFID chip in it that can be programed to be a contactless payment option but you have to have Chase or an Amazon credit card for it to work. It works well with Chase.
