JRT Ready: This center-ring collar, which I bought for my JRTs–working terriers (field and sport)—is so far exceeding my expectations. It's a nice, well made safety collar (strong, weather-resistant bridle leather) and, after testing (pull/wiggle test), I have every confidence that it will keep them safe (in the event a dog catches his/her collar on a fence, tree limb or branch the center ring allows the collar to flex in such a way that it otherwise wouldn't, and s/he can back out if loosely fitted), and it should last with proper care. Pros: Strong, Thick, Naturally Weather-Resistant Bridle Leather, well stitched (Durable) Fantastic Size Range, Excellent Fit, Flexes as Intended (Safe) Bonus: Made in the U.S.A. Cons Aluminum Buckle (Lightweight, Yes. Does it properly secure? Yes. Long-Term? We’ll See). Combined with a leash and harness this collar also makes for an every-day, all-weather walking kit, and it could if necessary or desired be used on its own with a leash attached to the center ring of the collar like a “regular” collar if worn higher up on his/her neck where it's narrower (tight enough that s/he can’t back out, but comfortable). This collar is ruggedly handsome, perfect for the hunting/working dog, and appreciate the Jack Russell Terrier Size. Due to the nature of the design (safety collar, intentional flex), not recommended for tie-outs.
