The best. Hands down.
I love coffee. My wife loves coffee. And over the years we’ve tried to love many, perhaps dozens of coffee makers. The cuisinart grind n’ brew, the oxo smart pour over. Mr coffee, Hamilton beech more cuisinart. Vac pots, French presses the list goes on. We didn’t discriminate. Some were ok for a while. Some awful right away. None lasted very long (and 3 weeks in the longevity jury is out on the Moca master too) the last 4 or 5 machines, I already had my eye on the moccamaster, but couldn’t bring myself to cross the 300USD rubicon on a coffee machine. How good could it be really right? After our last machine died at the beginning of April (the entirely mediocre Cuisineart pour over) we went for it. An orange Mocamaster KVBG. There’s no going back. It’s the best coffee machine I’ve ever had. By a wide margin. 1) the coffee is hot. Like really hot. Our last machine didn’t break 180F when brewing. This machine is consistently 201F (we are around 200ft above sea level if that matters to you), it’s also relatedly strong and flavorful. 2) it brews quickly and quietly. The machine brews 10 cups in under 4 minutes it’s less than half the time our prior machine took. 3) the coffee stays really hot: the heating plate is running on its a separate heating element and circuit from the brewer heating element and both are very powerful. Coffee is held around 180 for 2 hours 4) this is one I wouldn’t have thought much about but it’s not unimportant. There is a very limited amount of plastic contacting the hot water or coffee. The heater body is metal. Heating elements are copper, the hoses are silicone and the brew head is stainless steel. The only meaningful contact with plastic is when the hot coffee enters the carafe (the cover is plastic). This is a major improvement over every other machine I’ve ever used. Which had aluminum heating coils inside plastic heater tanks, plastic spray heads etc. 5) the aesthetic. It’s not retro. It never changed. It’s unreformed. It is a big Orange middle finger from the 1970s sitting on your kitchen counter. There is no WiFi. There is no app. There’s not a clock. Simply an on off switch (and a pot size adjuster which may or may not really do anything). I find it refreshing: last year when our washing machine broke it was a struggle to find one that wasn’t internet enabled. Why do I want an internet enable washing machine? So far I couldn’t be happier. Somehow it feels like a good value for the 350USD (as of April 23). If you’re on the fence. I’d go for it. You won’t look back.

Stop overthinking — buy it
I love coffee - let’s start with that. In college I had a Keurig. Sure, fairly convenient for those bustling mornings to class. But let’s face it - the coffee product *sucks*. So I switched back to filter coffee with a Chemex, which I love, but sometimes I just don’t have the times in the morning to sit there and measure out the grams of water I’m pouring. I bought a Ninja Duelbrew pro. And honestly, made solid drip coffee for all of the features it had. That is, until the computer died *15 months* after purchase. Reminder - their warranty is 12 months. When I contacted them, they could not sell me parts, and sent me a “limited time offer” to buy a new one at the low low price of $159.99 + $25 shipping. Ha! Went to Reddit, realized this machine was legit, and bought it. It’s simple. It makes coffee. Good coffee. Really, really good coffee. And it looks gorgeous. It’s a simple machine that perfects brewing drip coffee. Two mechanical switches, and a bunch of copper heating elements. That’s it. No computers to break, no fancy gizmos. As an engineer, sometimes gizmos are fun, but what’s more fun is something engineered to near perfection. That’s what this coffee maker is. Pro tip — if you want this machine but think you’ll miss having one that you can set up at night to brew in the morning, just buy a $12 smart plug. I use a smart plug with this, and am able to get everything laid out the morning before. Using apple home, I have it turn on at whatever time I want, with the coffee and water already filled. And boom - great coffee, at the time I need it. Sure, it’s not as *fancy* to grind your beans the night before. But hey, it still tastes delicious, and is the best tasting coffee I’ve been able to produce from home. So just buy it. It’s a coffee machine with a 5 year warranty, where else can you find that? Most catchy name machines are designed to last 1-2 years and be thrown away. Do yourself, and the environment, a favor and buy a machine that could last years and years to come. It’s worth every penny

So worth the bucks
Honestly I was sceptical but man does this make a consistently good cup of coffee. Do not regret my decision in any way.

Consistently the best coffee everyday
Our grind and brew machine died on us and so we started using a French press and/or Areo press. Both options worked fine, but I like to make a pot in the morning so my wife can have a cup, and I can take the rest to work in a thermos. I started watching reviews on drip coffee makers and came across this unit. Everything about it was appealing. -THE LOOK- Aesthetically, it's stunning. Timeless, classic look. It's very clean, the textured finish looks very durable, doesn't finger print, and the color choices are excellent. (I wanted the pistachio color but once I pulled the trigger couldn't wait for it to be shipped so opted for my second choice). While brewing it looks neat as the water bubbles up the center column and into the outlet. -THE BREWING OPTIONS- Very basic controls, but the half pot select allows you to not only brew a half pot, but modifies blooming duration. From there the sky is the limit with grind options and strength without all the buttons and programming. It's also pretty fast- full pot in 6 minutes. -THE TASTE- I've had it 5 days and have made 7-8 pots... It's the best tasting coffee (obviously the beans, grind and everything can make the difference... but when I have a Tim Hortons or Starbucks it's just not the same) and I drink black coffee. -THE DESIGN- If it ain't broke... this design has been around for 50 years and is hand made in the Netherlands and comes with a 5 year warranty. It's not ground breaking but that's the point. Keep it simple. Quality parts, copper heating element, and separate elements for water heating and the carafe. The removable water outlet arm is a nice touch if it gets a fingerprint on it or if your need to clean- simply pop off. -THE PRICE- Ok, so this is super expensive for "just a coffee brewer" but personally I'd rather spend big money on a quality piece that has service able parts, rather than a machine 1/3 the price that may only last 2-4 years. This is a lifetime machine if cared for. Personally I drink at least 3 large black coffees/ day. Starbucks dark roast black is $4.00 CAD. It'll pay for itself in no time. -THE ONLY NEGATIVE- The glass carafe seems really fragile and thin. I'm paranoid it will break. I do not allow anyone to operate my machine as I'm scared they wouldn't be as careful as I when I rinse it. So if you buy pre ground coffee and want an easy pot of coffee, or like to grind fresh and experiment in grams per liter, ground size etc... but must have the best- buy this.

THE Moccamaster to buy for pretty much everyone
I had an older model Moccamaster for several years which I loved for making 6-10 cups but when I wanted to make one or two cups the taste wasn't up to the same level. My work schedule changed in 2021 and now weekdays I have time for one cup, maybe one and a half. So I wasn' t using my Moccamaster much. Something had to change. I considered the One Cup but that's limitating. Thankfully Technivorm made the Select and now you don't have to choose between small batch performance an full pot performance. The Select does both beautifully by adjusting the water flow according to quantity. My coffee is now great wether I make 2 or 12 cups. If I have a con, it's that the platewarmer is perhaps a little on the hot side. I'll get a thermal carafe and switch the coffee I think at some point. And the glass carafe is only washable by hand and seems a little flimsy to me. Over the past 6-7 years I've tried the Oxo Barista Brain, the Breville Precision and Ninja CM401. They come close (especially the Breville) but nothing quite beats the Moccamaster for coffee taste, simplicity and reliability (there's a reason they're the only ones with a 5 year warranty). It's not gadgety, it's not programmable, it's just a great coffee-making machine. Oh and it looks grea!

Bonne cafetière
Superbe machine. Bien emballée, faite à la main. Le seul reproche c’est la couleur. J’aurais aimé qu’elle soit plus blanche alors qu’elle est plutôt jaunâtre. Moins blanche que sur leur photo. Mais je ne regrette pas. Excellent achat. Merci

Best coffee machine out there
Back story- beloved Krupps coffee maker died after years and years of faithful service. Result- Researched coffee machines like it was my day job, for weeks. Bought a Br**n coffee server contraption and it was junk (husbands choice) and then was almost convinced to purchase a brevi**e precision brewer or whatever it is- at this point I’m familiar with every coffee machine on the market and my algorithm is fairly confused as to what to try to sell me. End result- we (I) decided to pull the trigger, spend good money once and just order the Technivorm. It took a few you tube vids for us to figure out how to get the most out of it and my findings are that this machine makes the best coffee we have ever had. It rivals the Saeco machines our friends have and doesn’t take up much real estate on the counter. We buy small batch roasted, ethical, organic fancy beans and I hate to say it but even the Costco beans can be brewed to offer a decent cup of caffeine with the Moccamaster. There are zero flaws, coffee is hot, shipping was quick to Canada, price was right, and we love our new machine. You can stop searching now and purchase this bad boy- don’t let the partner talk you into anything less- this brewer sets the standard.
