Beautiful! Easy assembly, slim, sturdy
I have very limited space and this fits fine in my hallway. I have a small space between a bedroom and bathroom is great right there. It really doesn't take up much space at all and least plenty of room for even my wide self to walk through. It's got two main compartments - the bottom one closes with a door and the top one has adjustable shelves. It's great for storing sheets or towels, but it's sturdy enough to accommodate books on the upper shelves. It looks like a good quality piece of furniture and I'm quite pleased with it.

Very pretty but does feel inexpensive | Elegant Home Fashions Russel Bathroom Wall Cabinet, Salt Oak
I love the look of this cabinet. It's simple, it's chic, it's understated. I ordered several of this style for my salon and I really do like them - this one sits in my back bar area with supplies and color bowls and it does hold a lot. Unfortunately the salon isn't even complete/open yet and the cabinet door is already starting to dip when opened causing the door to make a thud-thud sound when it's opened or closed. We can't really figure out where it's coming from or how it happened since it seems to have installed fine, but my husband says this is often the case with cheaper cabinetry and there's just not much you can do. Personally I'm surprised $179 for a single cabinet is considered cheap cabinetry, but either way it definitely could be a little bit better made. The instructions were also less than perfect and my husband, my assistant and I struggled to get it assembled until we did the steps out of order, then it came together just fine. My overall impression of the Russel Salt Oak cabinet series is that they are pretty and some are made better than others. They LOOK expensive, but some - like this cabinet - just aren't holding up as well as they should for the price. I'd recommend this for an area that perhaps didn't get a ton of traffic - a guest bathroom, perhaps. For me, opening and closing this cabinet 300x a day is probably a recipe for disaster in a short amount of time, so for an application like that it may be best to check out some of the other cabinets in this series if you really like the look.

Surprisingly solid and heavy-duty despite easy do-it-yourself construction
As a self-proclaimed "fake furniture" expert who has 5 boxed kit cabinets and/or storage pieces in my home, I was impressed with how solid this unit was. The wood is heavy and dense as opposed to the flimsy manufactured particle board that makes up the majority of the other home-assembled cabinets in my place. It's not that I LIKE fake furniture, it's that it's easy for those of us with little to no carpenter or home improvement experience and who need quick but good looking storage space.....and who don't have the resources or funds to go shopping in a real store. It's convenient to buy a cabinet in a box that you can put together yourself with a basic screwdriver. That said, you make sacrifices for this convenience and usually, durability is the first sacrifice made. With this kit, it's surprisingly durable and sturdy because the wood is so thick and solid. I haven't had the issue with this unit that I've had with my other cabinet kits: doors becoming separated or uneven and not closing securely because they're held together with just a peg or pushpin. So far, this looks and feels like you actually built it from scratch rather than put together like a Lego set.

Handy for storage but mixed reviews on quality.
This is a great option for storage! It arrived well packaged, with no damage to thd wood pieces, but styrofoam pieces were broke and those were everywhere. Each shelf needed to be vacuumed because of the styrofoam. Every part was well labeled and easy to follow directions. It came with an Allen key for the base but needed our own philip’s screwdrivers in both large and small to put the frame together. One of the channel locks snapped with very little pressure during the building which is disappointing. Should be easy to find a replace at the hardware store but it’s disappointing it broke and there were no extras included. Solid boards for frame but very thin cardboard for the back, although it is painted so it will not look unfinished. Sturdy magnet lock on the lever. Shelves are adjustable which is a nice feature. Our cat immediately jumped on the top of this and it didn’t wobble so it is pretty sturdy but should be strapped to a wall for stability. It annoys my husband that the inset of the cabinet door design looks dirty but it’s actually paint. My husband was skeptical of this item when I ordered it as he’s annoyed by cheap materials in put together furniture but he was surprised and impressed at how heavy the wood for the sides, top and bottom of this turned out to be. He put this together at a leisurely pace while watching tv and finished it in about 45 minutes. He had no problem moving it from one side of the house to another but this could be something that is a two person job if not used to lifting such heavy items.

So the truer rating is a 3.5 from me
I know half star rating comments is so ten years ago, but I felt the desire to bring it back. I like it more than 3 stars would imply and yet... For one thing, it is a lovely cabinet, certainly an upgrade from the who-knows-how-old one with the peeling paint that it replaced. I love the shelves, the small size is good for my small bathroom, and I think it has a great rustic look. But dang, there was some weird stuff while assembling this. I would stay it wasn't hard to assemble, but there were a few things that just didn't make sense and required some alternate work-arounds. I'll say it, I think there was an engineering flaw in attaching the door. I also want to say it's not nearly as quality as the price would imply. Again, it's lovely, I like the look, but for nearing $200 I must say you can better quality for the same price point. So, looks nice and functions nice once you have it up, but I'm still not sure about the construction or why it costs as much as it does.
