Correct part
Finally found the correct mulch plug for my 2003 Troy built 42" lawn tractor! It would have been nice if they would have included the bolt to attach it.

Easy & effective
I have a 2003 MTD lawn tractor 42" deck it works well just finished cutting I should have purchase this long ago easy to install just tapped it in with the hammer it stayed in place at least for the first cut that's why three stars for sturdiness

What sorcery is this?
I removed the discharge chute from my 42in Troy Built and secured it with one of the bolts from the chute (there was no hardware included.) I put on a set of new mulching blades and went out to my horribly overgrown yard. The grass was over a foot high, and there's no sign of any clippings anywhere. I've used mulching blades before without plugging the chute and never got results like this. Buy this thing and never worry about bagging clippings again!

Extensively Damaged
I purchased this as USED in Excellent Condition.. What a WASTE OF MY TIME... I planned on mowing yesterday after getting this.. To at least make it fit, I would have had to heat up the plastic where the plug bolts to the chute and reform to where it was flat and maybe back to shape.. Who ever had this and used it on a machine, really should learn to read instructions. This thing was chopped to hell from lawnmower blades.. To Sell as Excellent Condition is a Crock of Camel Dung..Now I have to wait until the grass dries up today to be able to mow.. Hopefully when the Seller gets this back, they toss it in the trash.. It's worth $5 if anything, since a person has to repair it just to fit into the chute. I expected a used part that was dirtied by grass, if anything. Not someones goof up and them trying to recoup on their mistake. This was clearly installed on the wrong machine at one point and even after forcing it to fit, they started up their machine which chopped the crap out of this.

It's plastic, so don't expect forever
On the International mower deck, there is only one point of attachment. Mow close to a solid barrier on the exhaust side and the blade will make its impression. That creates the wear point which will lead to replacement

Too small.
It was far too short to fit my 42” cut TroyBilt ride on mower. Sent it back. Customer service was excellent and tried to find a unit that fit my model. I bought the one that was suggested and it fit fine. No problem with returning the original piece.
