preseason skillet

I gave this skillet a 4star because even though it is preseason, it tends to rust if you don't make sure all the moisture is off the skillet before storing. I usually dry it well, but it still will have rust markings on it. Probably will be fine after several uses.

Nice Sizzling Plate!

Me and my wife likes to eat chicken fajitas and we decided to bought this sizzling plate to try to cook at our home. The quality of the is great and durable.My only comment is that I need to wash it couple of times and season it again to remove the carbon before we use it.

Half Good Half Bad

The cast iron plate is very good. The problem lies with the wooden board...it doesn't lay flat and is badly warped. I bought these to use for steak and the plates keep the steak hot though the entire meal. Because the board is warped, everytime you cut the meat it wobbles badly. The plates get 5 stars and the boards get one star. This isn't rocket science. The manufacturer sees it's wrong, but still sends it to Amazon. Amazon sees it's wrong, but sends it to customers. Customers see it's wrong and send them back or like me, find the effort it takes to send them back just isn't worth a 2 hour drive round trip to the nearest UPS Store.

NOT 17 inches! Do NOT waste your money or time.

I just ordered a 12 inch skillet for the stove but then I saw this one for 17 inches so I ordered it too so I could use it for taco, fajita, or pizza nights or cook on the grill. I was so disappointed to pull it out the box & see that it is NOT 17inches of cook space, they included the long a$$ handle as apart of the 17inches but REALLY it is only about 8inches long & 4 inches wide. You could not even fit a personal size pizza on this.

Buy this only for the iron platter, because.....

the wood platter is a comical piece of garbage. Check out my pics. I just opened the package. The wood is splitting, across the complete platter, in two places. It would be very dangerous to use, as the hot iron platter will make it fall apart, in short order. The iron platter may be terrible, too, but, at this point, it seems OK, but not cast iron. I'll update after a couple uses. UPDATE, 4/21: The iron platter is fine. What you need to do about the wooden one: Buy a circular, wooden platter with a metal hoop perimeter that has solid handles, opposite each other. Cut the terrible, included platter so that it fits snugly inside the new platter you just bought. Then, you put the terrible platter on the new one, the Iron platter on the terrible one. Problem solved!

Misleading

Works well however i can only give it 2 stars because it was advertised as 17 inches, to me that meant the useable surface area was 17 inches but that figure includes the handle. The useable surface area is really 10 inches long and not the 17 i was expecting. This should have be noted in the products description.
