great for De Quervain's tenosynovitis
I had been using several over-the-counter splint that I bought at a local pharmacy to try to help with my De Quervain's tenosynovitis. They helped a little, but I was still having quite a bit of pain. This was the last unsuccessful splint I bought:(Futuro Thumb Stabilizer Small Med -- 1 Support I went to my doctor and he gave me this splint - it was made by another manufacturer in Mexico (this one is made in China) - but the two splints are identical except for the sizing - and the splint my doctor gave me said it was available by prescription only - but this is the same same splint but by a different manufacturer. This splint has made my pain decrease to just about zero. I am a nurse so I can't wear this splint at work - by the end of my shift my wrist and thumb are painful again, but within an hour or two after putting this splint back on the pain is gone. Yes, as another reviewer said, it is big and bulky, and not too lightweight - but it is more lightweight than other splints designed for this problem according to my doctor. This is the best splint I have tried. Wearing a splint is much better than surgery. The doctor seems to think that after a couple of months I should be able to stop wearing this splint all together. The doctor also gave me a Modabber thumb splintModabber Thumb Orthosis Size Standard Wrist Cir. 5"- 9-1/2" Thumb Orthosis - Model 55987902 which does not offer as much support, but it is good for things requiring more mobility, like typing on a keyboard. The Modabber splint does not provide enough support for all the time usage, but it is a lot more lightweight, and when it is too hot, I tend to wear that one. The splint I got from my doctor was a size medium. My wrist is 6 and 9/16 inches in circumference so I bought a medium splint from Amazon as well. (remember the splint I got from doctor was a different manufacturer) This splint from this manufacturer runs a bit large and the medium is a little too big for me. (I wear ladies large gloves, men's medium gloves, and size 7 surgical/sterile gloves) If you look at the picture, the splint should come below the thumb joint so you can move the upper thumb joint. This splint, in medium, is too big so I cannot move my thumb joint. As a result I wear this one at night when sleeping and the one my doctor gave me during the day. (you should wear a splint at night when sleeping if you have De Quervain's tenosynovitis) Just keep the larger sizing in mind when you order it. It still amazes me that my splint from one manufacturer says available by prescription only and from another manufacturer it is available over the counter.

Works wonderfully
We had purchase one of these to use a second splint we received from the ER, so the splint could breath. This one was sooooo much better than what we received from the ER we purchased another one. My husband switches between the two to let them breath. He has stretched his arthritic left thumb badly and this one holds the thumb securely and the rest of it does very nicely. Would highly recommend.

Kept my wrist and thumb still, but made the swelling worse.
I needed a brace with a thumb splint, for De Quervain's Tendonitis (otherwise known as mommy thumb/gamer thumb). At first, I was excited with this one because it seemed pretty well made, it fit, and once I strapped myself in, it kept both my wrist and my thumb in place. But after some wear, I had to have my husband adjust the metal splint inside because with the way it was shaped it was pushing into the area where my thumb and wrist meet. The adjustment helped relieve that painful pushing. However, I think in general the position it holds the thumb/wrist/hand in is not good for wrist tendonitis involving the thumb. I do still give it 4 stars for being well put together, sized correctly, and being comfortable (it is nicely cushioned inside). I can't get past the thumb placement though. I had been healing slowly by just not using my hand much, until this brace, and it made it swell right back up and I feel like I've added to my recovery time. It may be good for something like carpal tunnel, where healing isnt so focused around the thumb.

Poor padding and runs small
I like that it was basically the same as the Rx one I had - style wise. The padding inside was crap compared to the Rx one. Super thin, could feel every bit of each metal & plastic immobilizer pieces. Got an XL for 8.5+”-9+” and following their measurements it fit tightly & I went with the men’s sizing (for use by a female). Can’t add enough extra padding bc there’s just no room.

Wish I found this sooner
My doctor's office said I had Tendonitis and gave me a wrist splint and put me on anti-inflammatory medication for 15 days. I was also having a problem with my thumb and the joint that joins it with the wrist. The standard splint was not immobilizing my thumb or supporting my wrist enough and I kept hurting it more. After a couple of weeks and not getting better I decided to try this item. What a difference! A regular splint only has the metal under the wrist. This has the metal under the wrist and on the side going up to the thumb. It has so much more support and does immobilize the thumb and immobilizes the wrist more. It also has a soft mesh sleeve on the inside that you slide your hand and arm through and an elastic loop to put your thumb through. After I first put it on my hand hurt more but that stopped in a few minutes. My thumb and wrist were finally in the proper alignment. The splint does go further up your arm than a standard splint but I do not mind. You don't realize how much you use your thumb until you can't use it. I did not expect this splint to be so helpful. Since the medication did not help, my Doctor has ordered an MRI as he thinks there may be a problem with a bone. My appointment is not for another ten days and this splint will at least keep me more comfortable until he sees me again. I wish I had not waited so long before purchasing this splint.

Get it!!
I was suffering for 13 months. So much pain I felt like I was going to drop my baby. I couldn't even hold a bottle. Physiotherapy was extremely expensive for her to tell me to do the same stretches I did from YouTube. Then I got this because it keeps my THUMB in place. That's the most important thing is that the thumb is locked right in there. I wore this for 3 weeks to BED only and what a different. I haven't had the pain since. My wrists are no longer inflamed. You must stretch atleast once. Don't expect a brace to solve all your problems. This was definitely a huge help as well as stretching my hand before putting it on. For 60 seconds minimum. I love that you can loosen and tighten the thumb , wrist , arm. For any size hand.

Great for de quervain's tenosynovitis
I bought a wrist splint for my de quervain's tenosynovitis, that didn’t work, then I bought a thumb splint, that was better but I felt I needed a wrist splint as well. No one tells you there is a splint for de quervain's tenosynovitis in any articles that talk about it. So if you’re here because of de quervain's tenosynovitis and this is the first splint you looked at, good for you, I spend $50+ before finding this gem. Enough of my life/back-story This splint has been on my arm/wrist/thumb for the 2 weeks and it’s been such a great help. Little to no pain while it’s on, very comfortable and the metal wrist splint part is thick and well bent, 4 of them in total Small con: the thumb has the rough Velcro patch Instead of the strap and the patch is bigger than the strap so if you wear gloves or accidentally wipe your face with your thumb it’s going to be an issue lol

Updated: Excellent for healing issues like De Quervain's Tenosynovitis
The media could not be loaded. Updated after 2 weeks of use full time: Simply amazing! Other than the annoying Velcros this splint totally healed my de quervain's tenosynovitis with the first 3 days of constant use. I strongly recommened! _______________________________________________________________________________ Original review: I ordered the Large size for my right wrist. My doctor told me I have De Quervain's tendinosis, He recommended me to buy a splint. This OTC wrist/thumb splint is one of the most robust on Amazon that I could find at a fair price (video and pictures attached): Pros: -Quality for price: Fabric used is solid and robust. -Looks good: No branding on the splint. Doesn't stand out. -Velcros are sturdy and stays on -Immobilization at it's best: The thumb and wrist a stays completely immobilized. Does stop slip. Cons: -Warm: A bit big, tends to make me sweat a bit. -Takes forever to dry once washed in the water. -Cumbersome: No the best splint if you still want to do sports while wearing it. Texting/gaming is also impossible. -Big: Doesn't fit under a log sleeve t-shirt. Conclusion: If you are in pain and can absolutely not move your thumb this splint is definitely for you; Very effective and maximum restraint. But if you still can deal with the pain without the splint or if you want a splint which you can wear during activities I do not recommend this splint and I would recommend a "medium hold" instead. The sizing chart is accurate; if you wear size small/medium winter gloves order the small, if you usually wear Large winter glove or higher order Large/XLarge. The Large size as alot of room for size change.

Great brace for de Quervain issues!
This is a fantastic brace. I am using it to help my de Quervain syndrome pain. There is a nice sleeve inside the brace. It helps keep the brace comfortable but also makes it easier to put on. There are 4 metal splints in the brace. Two are removable. Wrist and thumb are both supported very well in the brace. The metal splits are nicely contoured to fit the curvature of the wrist and thumb. I was on the smaller end of the size recommended for me and it does up fine for me. If I was on the larger end of the range, I think I’d size up. I’d recommend this brace to anyone having wrist or thumb issues and needs some good support.

Well engineered
This is a excellent splint and holds the wrist in a neutral position and the thumb abducted. Adjustable thumb strap for different sizes. Thumb spica provides contoured support. Three independent hook and loop fasteners make it easy to adjust. Durable lightweight urethane foam glove laminated to Lycra for comfort and long term wear. Made of soft interior foam breathable material. Easy to apply and fits perfectly centered over the palm. Easy to adjust for comfort. Metal splints can be removed to hand wash the splint. Make sure you measure around the break of the wrist for a perfect fit. My left large fit like a glove. Excellent splint.
